Favourite Holiday Project CTC209

Welcome back to another week of CASE-ing The Catty. This week the design team are focusing on our favourite Holiday project. I'm sure if you love Stampin' Up! products, you will have a favourite project too.

So Santa was a last-minute purchase for me. In the end I couldn't resist, because he suits our Australian Christmas so well. I made a quick little decoration for the ever-handy Pizza Box, which has Christmas tea light candles inside. I based the colours on the decoration I found at my local supermarket - isn't he fun? 

My next task was to make 23 Christmas cards for the children in the classroom I work in at school. I began with stamping notecards. This is #simplestamping at its best. The sentiment is stamped below the image, to make simple one-layer cards.

Probably, I could have left them as they were, so the kids could colour them in, but I decided some minimal colour was called for. The watercolour pencils were handy to use, as I did it in odd moments between other chores this week. 

Then just because I couldn't leave them alone, I've stamped 'clouds' using a stamp from an upcoming stamp set called Geared Up Garage. Check your Occasions catalogue for that one and place your order from January 3rd.

The image on the Pizza Box was coloured using Stampin' Blends, but no matter what your favourite way to colour is, this So Santa stamp set is a good one to try. AWH Colour Creations Lovely Lipstick

This week the featured colour for Colour Creations is Lovely Lipstick, and I had some fun trying it out with a couple of  different shades from the Stampin' Up! range, and a new stamp from the Occasions catalogue - Incredible Like You. Incredible Like You was an "all attendee" gift at the Stampin' Up!® Onstage Convention. I've already received a lovely birthday card made with this stamp set from the lovely Kelly Kent in West Australia, so I was keen to have a little play too.

My first colour choice was Lovely Lipstick, Call Me Clover and Gray Granite. The lines are easily stamped using the Stamparatus 'step' method. The flowers are also easy to fill with colour, using a stamp which lines up perfectly. For the second, Pool Party was substituted for the Gray Granite and the orientation changed.

Happy Birthday Logie!

Over the next 3 weeks, two of my grandsons, my only granddaughter and my eldest son all celebrate birthdays. Obviously that involves a lot of card-making, and shopping.

 Logan was 8 on Valentine's Day and I chose the dragon from Magical Day for this card. His parents asked me how I knew he was into dragons, and then answered their own question with, "Oh, you went online at #whatare8yearoldboysinto

Not really guys, I might not be quite THAT switched on......!

Maybe I just need to give credit to Stampin' Up!® for being onto trends. It's quite a useful stamp set for not only children, but teens and older who are into wizards or Harry Potter. Currently Magical Day is available in the Occasions Catalogue until May 31st, but there is no guarantee that it will carryover into the next Annual Catalogue.

I thought the idea of the dragon lighting the candles was amusing, and inlaid 'wish' in the lovely Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. The candles are borrowed from Picture Perfect Birthday, also in the Occasions catalogue. Logan was thrilled with his card, and that makes my heart sing!!!

Team Meetings

I really enjoy the team gatherings when we sit and chat without any pressure to "get it right." You can see with the cards from the 'Lots Of Happy' kit that we all used random colours for colouring and I even forgot to place my gold banner under the tag! We've decided that this is a great kit, with everything you need (maybe add some Tombow or snail) to make the set of cards up. The base set would give 4 participants 5 cards each to make, take home and send out. An enjoyable way to practise colouring. There are even 4 pencils included, so you can complete these cards in Old Olive and Lemon-Lime Twist for the leaves and Rich Razzleberry and Flirty Flamingo for the petals.

After we'd completed and admired those cards, I shared the challenge I had set for them. I felt like You're So Sweet hadn't been getting much inky love lately, so I printed off some pages from Pinterest and asked the ladies to CASE a card. I was actually surprised and very happy with the way they rose to the challenge with enthusiasm even!

Leanne knew exactly who she was making her card for and used splatters from Timeless Textures as well as a sentiment from a retired stamp, and the Mini Treat Bag Thinlet dies which go with this stamp set.

Angela decided she'd use mainly washi tape and has made such a nice clean card, perfect to send a note to anyone.

Mine wasn't too far different with the same star and 'hello' die cut and 'my friend' another stamp from You're So Sweet and the new washi tape from the Myths and Magic suite in the Occasions catalogue.

Hopefully next time even more of the team will be able to gather for a fun few hours. Picture Perfect Party for CTC#160

You've been able to order from the new Stampin' Up!® Occasions catalogue for a few days now, I wonder if you have yet? We are CASE-ing pages 4-9 this week, which takes in Picture Perfect Party Suite as well as some other summery stamp sets.

My daughter-in-law starts off the Palmieri family birthday year on January 5th, and one of her gifts is a pendant necklace. It has a black and white floral print, quite similar to the paper, with the odd flower coloured pink, just like I have done using a Stampin' Marker.

 The layout of the centre card from the Catalogue pic is the one I chose to CASE here.The Petal Passion designer series paper (DSP) in black and white, is similar to the design on the pendant. Also, this floral has a stripe on the reverse, and the card I CASE-d used a strip of stripe at the bottom of the DSP. You can probably see that I've used the same greeting too.

The sentiment inside is from Picture Perfect Birthday, and the words are perfect for this lovely lady. You can check out this stamp set on page 5 of the Occasions Catalogue, it might just suit the birthday cards you need to make too.

This card is also CASE-d from page 4 but it's a smaller picture at the bottom of the page where two donuts sit on a pair of banners. I've struggled with this card, and ended up with two ice creams (Cool Treats) and two bottles from the NEW Bubble Over (page 32 Occasions). I used the 'treat yourself' from Bubble Over too, while 'Happiest Birthday' is from Cool Treats. I'm not sure if it's all too much, what do you think?

See those sweet little bottle caps? You get 4 in the die set, so you can cut multiples with each pass of the Big Shot. That seems like a good idea.

8th Bird-day

The Occasions catalogue has gone live today and inside you'll find Bird Banter. One of the things I love about this set is that the budgie and cockatoo are Australian native animals, and its fun to feature something that is truly everyday Aussie.

I made this card for my grandson, and then decided to use Magical Day instead. Reason for that was, it was actually his dad (my son) who was mad for birds, and so far none of his boys have gone down that path. I wrote a post about the Magical Day card, but I've had a few computer issues the last few weeks and managed to totally lose that post, and the only photos left were the ones I shared on my Facebook page. So sad.

Number Of Years & Large Number Framelits always come in handy for these kids birthdays, and it helps me keep on top of what age they are!!! I purposely skewed the card layers, and repeated it on the inside.

I wasn't concerned about being too realistic with the colours, used the Stampin' Blends and was very happy with the range of colours.

Love the bold greeting inside, it comes with Picture Perfect Birthday. I'm making very good use of the full range of sentiments in that particular stamp set.

CTC #157 CASE A Colour Combination

In my very humble opinion, CASE-ing The Catty for a colour combination is the easiest challenge of the lot! Any catalogue, any colour combination. You might like to take a photo of your card or 3-D item sitting on top of the page you cased, just like I have here, and enter our challenge via Facebook. W'ed love you to join us.

For my card, I've CASE-d the main colour, Island Indigo, chosen a different woodgrain and added hints of yellow & green (from the sunflowers & fruit). I could also say that I also echoed a container holding something, like the barrel of sunflowers.

It has been quite a while since I have inked up Crafting Forever, but I am making some teacher gifts and thought it appropriate. Not only does it have some fun images in it, there is a Stampin' Up!® logo stamp for any of you happy crafters out there who'd love to sell some of your creations. Angel Policy requires you to add the ©Stampin' Up! to any work sold, containing Stampin' Up!® stamped images.

Three pens is another of the images in this stamp set, and I couldn't resist adding a couple to the pot of brushes. I have another stamp set, Pieces & Patterns which matches with a current DSP (pattern paper) and the loose pencil lying on the table is from that set. Stampin' Up!® prides itself on being a company with co-ordinating products, and this is a prime example of stamp set themes matching, and one of those matching with a paper, Pick A Pattern DSP, which then lists all the colours it co-ordinates with. How easy does that make crafting?

I'm sneaking in a new box framelit which is in the Occasions Catalogue. Let me know if you want me to get one out to you, as I am ordering catalogues this week. Last night I went shopping for chocolate, to see what little treat I could sneak in there, but unfortunately the packet of the delicious Lindt chocolate I bought was too long, but the right width, and I had to eat it!!!!

On the same page as the Lots To Love Framelits Dies (page 19) are narrow notecards and envelopes. I will add them to my pre-order too and make some little cards for the box next week. Lovely Words Thinlets and Stitched Shapes Thinlets helped me add a window, and let me used some of the Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate to dress it up.

These are some bonus cards using Crafting Forever. This one with pens above is a super-easy repeat pattern which looks good left plain black & white, or easy to colour too.

Another Fun! Fun! Fun! card using repeat stampings of the scissors in primary shades, and one of the Crafting Forever sentiments, I can see this card being perfect for a younger child's birthday card too.
