Stampin' In The Round

The Stamparatus has been the greatest tool introduced to the crafting market since the Big Shot and I say that, depite being the owner of one of the stamp placement tools by "that other company". The size of the Stamparatus is more compact and it stacks very nicely on a handy shelf in my craft room, so I often pull it out to stamp even fairly straight forward projects. Perhaps one of its strongest selling points are the two hinged plates, so multiple stamps can be mounted and in use at the same time. 

I had been hanging to try the Stamparatus "stamping in the round" technique, or you may have also 

heard it referred to as "wreath stamping". It requires you to make a template and then by placing the same-size square of card in it and rotating, you create a wreath. To make it a bit more fun, I've used some flowers from a favourite stamp set of mine, Bike Ride. This involves two-step stamping, which is so much easier with the Stamparatus anyway, but for consistent repeat stamping like this, an absolute essential. The black outline is one stamp, the flowers are another and the leaves are a third stamp.(I have noticed that the leaves aren't perfectly aligned, I'll keep on trying!)

For some additional fun, I've stamped the background with stamps from Stitched All Round and the 'lovely friend' is also part of that stamp set. I'm dying to keep on experimenting and I'll share with you how it goes.

Favourite Occasions Big Shot Project CTC175

Welcome back to another week of CASE-ing The Catty. You'll have probably realised by now that a Big Shot is an essential tool for paper crafting. In the time that I have been a demonstrator the number of dies and Textured Impressions Embossing folders has grown and grown. Petal Palette has been a stand out in the Occasions catalogue and with relief I can tell you that it will also be in the Annual Catalogue.

Essentially, I have CASE-d an entirely different Occasions sample, using the colour palette from the Hold On To Hope Bundle and transferring it to my Petal Palette project. Its the card on the top right of the title picture in Bermuda Bay and Lemon-Lime Twist.

I water coloured a piece of paper with Tranquil Tide and Lemon-Lime Twist and used it to back the negative space left after cutting a black sprig of foliage out of a card front. A bird has perched on it and the roses below are blooming beautifully.

This card is sentiment-free at present, but once I find a suitable recipient, I'll know what to add.

Petal Palette in Navy

I CASEd my friend Kelly Kent to make this card. Her card is much more detailed and does use the Framelits, but I have shown a simpler version. You can check that out by clicking on her name.

This card was made to share how it is still possible to make a beautiful card using Petal Palette, even if you don't have the Petals & More Thinlets dies. The only reason you wouldn't buy both is if you don't have a Big Shot. This is a simple technique where you use your aqua painter to spred the ink before it is totally dry. I chose to leave the leaves as is. Don't you love the Myths and magic washi tape? I think these will be the first rolls I use completely to the end.

I have my fingers crossed the Petal Palette carries over into the next Annual Catalogue. Sweet Sayings For your Birthday CTC 162

Welcome back to another week of CASE-ing The Catty. The crew is made up of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all parts of Australia and New Zealand.You are at the blog of Rachel Palmieri, Independent Stampin' Up!® demonstrator. I run classes at my home studio in South Morang, Victoria, share Stampin' Up!® products and tools at parties for my customers, coach my lovely team and create cards and the occasional 3D project.

It's a shame I couldn't justify racing out to the shops to buy a cake stand to use like my inspiration picture. It's a small picture on page 11, of a Powder Pink card with a large circle cut from the centre.

Kind of close so far, although my circle is off to the right. I displayed Sweet Soiree DSP behind the circle, and then I pulled Sunshine Sayings from the shelf and cut Congrats in silver foil, stamped 'on one more year' for the banner crossing the circle.

Finally I turned to my new Petal Palette supplies and embossed with one of the pair of TIEF in that suite, and diecut the leafy branch from the glimmer paper in the Myths & Magic Suite.

The other side of that gorgeous piece of paper is equally lovely, in a different way, so I continued on to make a quick birthday card using a special quick and easy technique. This card was more exclusively using Petal Palette with the embossing folder, the sprig of leaves and the label die all coming from that suite.

 I've inked up one side of the embossing folder before rolling a piece of thick Whisper White through the Big Shot. The uneven inking is what you should expect, but look how it has shown up those small spots surrounding the flowers on the embossing folder. Now you can do this in reverse too, and you'll have coloured flowers and a white background.

 The sentiment on the outer of the card is Sunshine Sayings, as is the splash of paint both inside and out, while the longer greeting inside is a favourite of mine from the fabulous Picture Perfect Birthday!

Lovin' Bouquet

Embossing using metal dies usually used for die cutting is surprisingly easy. Using the Big Shot, a 'sandwich' is made using the usual Big Shot platform and one cutting plate. Next comes the card, the die and a silicone craft sheet, found on page 203 of the Annual Catalogue. You will also need a piece of thick cardboard, such as that found in the packs with Foil sheets or Glimmer paper.

This sandwich is enough to create an impression, but not enough to cut. I used the Bloomin' Heart Thinlet and stamped and diecut some flowers from the matching Bloomin' Love stamp set. The sentiment is from Beautiful Bouquet.

Beautiful Bouquet

This simple birthday card was put together after the medallion embossing paste dried using some pieces stamped and diecut with Beautiful Bouquet Stamps and Bouquet Bunch Framelits. This stamp set has 37 stamps, 15 of which are the loveliest sentiments.

Favourite Big Shot Project CTC #150

Welcome back to another week of CASE-ing The Catty. The crew is made up of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all parts of Australia and New Zealand. This week we are featuring our favourite Big Shot projects from the Holiday catalogue.


There are just so many to choose from and I can't wait to do the blog hop and see what the rest of the crew like. I know there are a lot of people out there who aren't as keen on Santa for their Christmas cards, but I have decided that this is suitable for my non-Christian-gift-giving friends. Even they take an opportunity at the end of the year to say thank you, and kids like gifts no matter what the family philosophy is. So, my choice to share for this log are two fairly simple cards featuring Santa's Suit!

There aren't too many versions on Pinterest of Santa face-on, using Santa's Suit. I've come to the conclusion that there might be two reasons for this. The first probably is that it involves many more staeps to add the face, beard etc. The second reason might be that it seems to change the shape of Santa, into a somewhat taller and thinner version.

 The card still 'needed' something so I stamped presents from Happiest of Days and scattered some Metallic Enamel Shapes about - they're very suited to Christmas!

It was such fun to make this card! A few days ago I had a session stamping and diecutting these shapes so there actually is a handy little container of the pieces for me to choose from. The set has the outline of the garments, and then separate stamps to put the colour on, and what's more, they were super easy to line up. I found that 2 stampings of red gave a more intense colour, which I prefer. I used some texture paste on his hair but it is tricky to see. The clothes line was stamped across the white circle & card base, before the red stitched circle was added. Washie tape held it in place as I stamped, and the red circle hides any bump in the line.

Stampin' Up!® are hoping/planning to add alcohol markers called Stampin' Blends to the range before the end of the year, and demonstrators are trialling them, and providing feedback at the moment. Old olive in light and dark coloured Santa's underwear, and I'm thinking of making some more of this card with underwear in different colours! We have Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight to name a few - won't that be gorgeous?

Saturday's Daisies

Lemon-Lime Twist was a bit of a shock when we first saw the new colour palette for 2017-2019 but it wasn't long before it's freshness won most of us over. It has a real 'zing' about it which gives more life to any other colour it is paired with. In this case, the main daisy is in Fresh Fig, another In Color.

Seventy Birthday Wishes CTC #137

Welcome back to another blog hop with the crew from CASE-ing The Catty. Do keep on hopping along, to see what else the crew are sharing. Our challenge this week is to CASE from the NEW Annual Stampin' Up!® catalogue, Artistic Expressions pages 132 - 181. I have a lot of stamps from this section, but so far not this one right at the start of the pages. You may have arrived here from Kelly Kent, do make sure you hop around to see what all the crew are sharing from the Stampin' Up!® Annual Catalogue.

I've CASEd the bottom left card, the one with the Stampin' Up! insignia partly covering it. I've taken artistic liscence with it, as we are inclined to do, but some basic design similarities are echoed. The new Ruffled 3D Dynamic TIEF was my choice for the back ground. The birthday sentiment, from Happiest Of Days was stamped toward the bottom of the white card, which was trimmed to size. I wanted maximum exposure of the gorgeous textured background. The sample also had a smaller panel to show off more background.

Since the sentiment says 'birthday wishes' I could see no reason not to simply place the copper foil '70' above it, and there you have '70 birthday wishes'. If you own a Big Shot, an essential purchase is the Large Number Framelits. The leafy swirl and small flower are all part of the sentiment, and I coloured them lightly with an aqua painter and some ink in the lid of my ink pads. The tiny leaves were coloured with a quick stroke of the Stampin' Writer - so easy! The larger flower stamp is a single stamp, which seemed to balance the composition. Instead of the folded ribbon behind the art piece, a copper foil piece from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlets was cut, again on the Big Shot.

Inside has been finished with a layer of Blackberry Bliss (retired) card, a layer .5cm smaller of Petal Garden DSPS, one of the packs with 48 6" X 6" squares of pattern paper. Then another smaller square of Whisper White with another sentiment from Happiest Of Days.

Another quick look at the inside to see how the Rich Razzleberry flowers tie in with the base of the card. I love the 'pop' of Pool Party, to give it a lift. This card will be needed next weekend, but I'm pretty certain that it is safe to share it here.
