Happy Happy Birthday Balloons CMCC#94

There's a card making class at my house tomorrow night and I needed to make another sample using Celebrate Today and those gorgeous Balloon Framelits. This combo. is good for all ages, little and big kids, significant birthdays, new arrivals, graduations and so on....... I was ready to make it up in primary colours but when I saw this colour challenge at Colour me! I thought it might make for a lively combination. I had to hunt around for some DSP to suit this and took a sheet from Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack for the base, and another from Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack for the top flaps.

I stamped out a number of balloons in Elegant Eggplant,Watermelon Wonder and one in Pumpkin Pie and then could pick and choose which to use. There are some sweet little banners in both stamps and framelits and I inked up with Stampin' Write Markers. The last little touch was a label from Day Of Celebration, it says Happy Birthday {All Day}, within another balloon.

On the long rear panel, there is room to write a personal message, but it had to be decorated with Celebrate and a couple more balloons, this time from Balloon Bash. It's a lot of balloons, but no doubt one of the children in my life will enjoy it.

Blue Dinosaur Birthday CMCC#79

Blue is my favourite colour....any shade of blue! This makes the challenge at Colour Me..! this week,
impossible to resist. Bermuda Bay and Marina Mist are a couple of lovely blues, and only need a dash of white and a touch of black for contrast.
I had avoided making a dinosaur card when I was CASE-ing The Catty this week, even though I was itching to ink up No Bones About It. Everyone needs a dinosaur stamp at some stage, and this one is an absolute gem, with skeletons and party hats - perfect for those "older person" celebrations, but only if they have a sense of humour!!!!

You might say I've CASE-d the catty (page 47) case-d myself case-ing the catty yesterday, and cased my design team pal, Jess at the Paper Caper. If you're ever stuck for inspiration, it's surprising how studying the catalogue can get the creativity happening again. This card is probably aimed at the junior end of the birthday market. It looks like one dinosaur is wishing the other a great birthday.Don't you love the contrast of those skeletons against the bodies. It's two-step stamping at its best with see through photopolymer stamps.

Playful Birthday CCMC#77

After an extra-early night, I've woken up at my normal workday time, and jumped out of bed, keen to get some crafting happening. My emails alerted me to a new challenge at Colour Me...! and I was happy to get playful with them.

Build A Birthday was lying on my table, and I've kept it simple with a pair of candles, in Melon Mambo and Perfect Plum with the flame stamped in Tangerine Tango. The paper lanterns in the inspiration picture 'spoke to me' and using sponge daubers and the rubber on the end of a pencil I've dotted Pink Pirouette as well as the other shades. Sassy Salutations has been a very neglected stamp set lately, but that's been remedied now 'cos I've whipped up a masculine version too, in readiness for a July class. My ladies like a choice of masculine and feminine and I like to accommodate them where possible.

Unfortunately, there has been an accident with my good camera and I'm using the good old point-and-shoot version. It doesn't really come up to scratch. but better than nothing in an emergency. Hope to remedy the sitution soon.

Tap, Tap Tap - It's Your Birthday!

When tidying my shelves, I'm reminded of stamps I loved a year ago, but neglect in the rush to use new ones. Repeating part of the formula from yesterday, there is a carryover stamp paired with a new one. If you count the inside, there's a long-retired stamp there too - 'wishing you' from Wacky Wishes combines so beautifully with the latest release Birthday Blossoms. Colour Me! came up with an inspiring colour scheme and I thought the sketch By Jen T at Freshly Made Sketches gave me lots of space to work with. However, keeping in mind that FMS like clean cards, I haven't cluttered it up too much.

Tap, Tap. Tap is the carryover stamp set, and I've used the typewriter and some of the letters on the Coastal Cabana background. Endless Birthday Wishes have some small typed-style words and two of them were added to the sheet of paper in the typewriter. Birthday wasn't one of the sentiments included in Tap, Tap, Tap.

The tiny flower from Something To Say seems to blend with the other blossoms quite well and adds a bit more pizzazz, along with the rhinestones. Having mentioned the inside, I s'pose I should share it! Sorry, I'm having camera issues with the flash not firing at the same time as the shutter releases. Hope its not serious as I head to Europe shortly.

Framed Floral

I felt enthused to create today (that just means I didn't really want to do housework!!!) and turned to a couple of favourite inspiration spots.
Freshly Made Sketches have a lovely sketch, as usual and I could see that I might get to use my Fun Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
After I'd chosen the strip of DSP from my pile of now-retired patterned papers, I decided it wouldn't be too hard to conform to Colour Me! colour challenge of Night of Navy, Real Red and a neutral.

Pictogram Punches is a favourite stamp set of mine, and it might just be the cute little Itty Bitty Accents Punches that go with it, but I also really like the vase, and it fitted beautifully inside the frame. The sentiment is from the recently retired From The Herd, cut with a banner from the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlet. Quite quick and easy to put together once the decisions were made.

Love You Always - Colour Me ..!

This crochet blanket is so pretty, I almost feel like pulling some yarn out to see if I can still crochet!

I think I'm feeling a little sentimental tonight, as things like this remind me of my childhood, my dear mother and all things warm and fuzzy. Tucked up in my spare room tonight are three small people, who have run me ragged all day and are now blissfully sleeping, before it all begins again in the morning! I've had most of this card completed earlier, and just needed a little bit of crafting before I too, get off to bed.

I really want to go back and re-stamp the tag as it has a two part greeting. The first part says 'big ways, small ways' and then the 'love you always' follows on so smoothly.

The stamp set is Something To Say, it really does have some lovely sentiments included and I haven't used it half enough yet.

Overdue Postage! CMCC#61

Yesterday I was challenged to use a stamp that I just HAD to have, but haven't used yet, with my most disliked colour. Tangelo Twist, one of the current in-colors, is the shade that appeals to me the least. Funny co-incidence, it is one of the challenge colours at Colour Me...! this week too.

In fact, I have difficulty using most of those colours in the orange family, even the corals. So there is only a hint of the Tangelo Twist. Teamed with Crumb Cake and Natural White card stock it becomes a necessary accent along with the cork accents (treasures from last SALE-A-BRATION,discovered while I was hunting for wooden accents)which add to the 'earthy' feel. This card pleases me, despite featuring my least favourite hue.

Now for the Postage Due stamp. I bought it to use with my scrapbooking of a trip to Paris which took place 18 months ago. Unfortunately, I haven't caught up with my travel scrapbooking, and it remained on the shelf unmounted. I had transferred it from the oyster pack it came in, to the new type of case, but last night is when the rubber finally made it onto the blocks.

At least when I inked it up, I was inspired to make a second card in colours I prefer and I may share that one soon.

Happy Birthday - Yay! FMS171 CMCC56

I like to work on something in my craft room every day, but I've had too much else happening to do that recently. After a while, I start to go a little nutty. I took an hour today to put together a card using the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #171 and colour inspiration from Colour Me: Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry, Tangelo Twist and Daffodil Delight.

I have several family birthdays coming in the next few weeks, and a couple of friends too, so this card is for a 7 year-old boy. Not too sure if it is quite 'right' for him, but it's a start if I don't think of something else.

I used older Designer Specialty Paper and some lovely new stamps and Framelits from the Occasions Catalogue and SALE-A-BRATION. The tail of the balloon had to be handcut but that was quite easy and there are Framelits and punches for everything else.

I wonder how you clear your head when you have "stamper's block"?

Hello Baby Boy CMCC#52

So glad to see colour me! back in business for the new year and celebrating their first birthday too! Its a great challenge because we can choose any colour scheme we like from the last 51. I only went as far as Challenge #8 - Baked Brown Sugar, Soft Sky and Pistachio Pudding. Perfect for a baby card I think, and I can show one of the new stamp sets from the Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalogue. Cheerful Critters is a photopolymer stamp set with three cute, cheerful critters holding up blank signs. There are words to place on those signs but I turned to another new stamp set with matching thinlets.

What do you think of the lovely script for 'Hello'? There are four words in the Hello You Thinlets - happy, you, thanks and hello. The stamp set is Crazy About You and there are 33 stamps in the set, 30 of them are words to start or finish the phrase. The combinations are endless. Oh, and there is a leaf and two flower stamps too.

My neighbour is due to have her first baby at the weekend. We don't know if it is a boy or a girl yet, but there's a very cute bunny in Cheerful Critters which would be perfect for a baby girl.

I have a handy hint to share also. Do you get magnetic calendars from retailers or Real Estate Agents?
I decided to recycle last years calendar by using Fast Fuse on the printed side to glue it into the lid of the stamp set and it is the correct size and perfect for holding these thinlets. I still have the 2015 calendar for my filing cabinet too.

Some of the icons below won't show until the catalogue goes 'live' to the public on 6th January.

Happy Age Awareness CMCC#40 HSS#195

It wasn't hard to get motivated to make another card using Regarding Dahlias. The stamps were still out on my work table, and I just grabbed some Whisper White and a different retired DSP, Everyday Enchantment, to make version 2. Colour Me set a monochromatic colour challenge, Calypso Coral, same as my last card. The sketch is from Hand Stamped Sentiments.

The elaborate 'happy' and 'birthday' sentiments from Age Awareness are big favourites of mine, Especially the 'filled-in' parts, which seem rather similar to the shaded sections on the dahlia. The flag has been cut using the Banner Framelits, but they are longer than intended. You do that by using strips a little narrower than the framelit and threading it through so only the flag end is cut.

What you think of the sentiment? Happy Age Awareness Day may not be seen as amusing by some people, do you think it is okay?

Delightful Dahlia FMS#156 CMCC#40

I've surprised myself today, by using the monochrome colours at Colour Me! for this sketch by Narelle at Freshly Made Sketches. Strangely, I find Calypso Coral (really any of the orange shades) a little bit overwhelming on cards, and yet I wear a LOT of orange and coral??! Doesn't really make much sense, does it?

Tea For Two was a BIG favourite from the mini catalogue nearly two years ago because of the 'tea' theme and the lovely patchwork patterns it incorporated. It also has a number of pieces featuring Calypso Coral, like the sweet spot here. It's a bargain in the Clearance Rack at the moment.

Lately, because I have so many new stamps, I have neglected old favourites like Regarding Dahlias. This flower is always stunning, I love cutting it out, and imagine how gorgeous it would look coloured with Blendabilities!

I didn't want a greeting to overwhelm the big blossom and an outline from Mosaic Madness, punched was about the right size. I was happy to find the Banner Banter greetings were quite a good fit, and obviously I could have just punched with a banner punch too.

The Mosaic Madness Embossing Folder was an easy choice after using the punched shape for the sentiment. I love the way either side of the paper looks fabulous after embossing.
Lastly,some leaves cut with Flower Fair Framelits, which might have been nice to stamp with the matching stamp in Flower Patch to give some more definition. With all these ifs and maybes, I can almost feel another card coming on!!!!
