Framed Floral

I felt enthused to create today (that just means I didn't really want to do housework!!!) and turned to a couple of favourite inspiration spots.
 Freshly Made Sketches have a lovely sketch, as usual and I could see that I might get to use my Fun Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
After I'd chosen the strip of DSP from my pile of now-retired patterned papers, I decided it wouldn't be too hard to conform to Colour Me! colour challenge of Night of Navy, Real Red and a neutral.


Pictogram Punches is a favourite stamp set of mine, and it might just be the cute little Itty Bitty Accents Punches that go with it, but I also really like the vase, and it fitted beautifully inside the frame. The sentiment is from the recently retired From The Herd, cut with a banner from the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlet. Quite quick and easy to put together once the decisions were made.

Big Day Celebration - The Card Concept #33

My card came about as a default design, after I failed to centre the Big Day greeting in the middle of the Chalkboard Paper banner. I wasn't about to waste it, so once the ink dried, I ran washi tape down the left side to balance it all. I have to admit that I do rather like that feature! Also, love these little flowers punched out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. I'm using these punches all the time as these small accents are perfect finishing touches on cards.
 Melon Mambo is a favourite of mine, it's so girlie, and with all the black & grey, there was a need for a bright colour accent. Flowers, glimmer paper and rhinestones all help the party mood!

The Card Concept have given us a stimulus picture with these splashes of hot pink, and geometric shapes on the walls and ottoman, I hope there is an echo of that in my Clean & Layered work. Card Giving CTC #8

Friday has rolled around again, so it must be time for another challenge at CASE-ing The Catty! This week it's all about card giving.

If you like to make hand-made cards, Stampin' Up!® is your "go to" place since stamps, paper and  ink  are the staples of this business.

Of course, there is the scrapbooking, gift packaging and home decor to name a few of the other items offered in the catalogue, but the core of this business will always be  stamps, paper and ink and to me that means card giving

I can remember when I first joined Stampin' Up!® and I was invited by my upline, Sue Madex to a team meeting at her home. It's no understatement to say I had product envy!


I began my Stampin' Up!® journey by buying the In-color package of five assorted shades of card and the five matching ink pads. That is always available and its discounted too.

Of course you also need a paper trimmer, and then with a Designer Series Paper Stack and a good greeting stamp set, you're ready to launch into card-making and therefore card giving. I've pictured the basic ingredients to make this set of cards.

  • Something To Say stamp set 
  • Cards and Envelopes Note Whisper White
  • All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack
  • Bright Candy Dots

 I've CASE-ed the cards on page 104 of the Australian catalogue. As often happens when CASE-ing, my own creativity began to kick in and I had to remind myself that I was trying to stick to the supplies pictured.
The catalogue used the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack, but I substituted All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack.  I did use matching card (last year's In Colors Strawberry Slush and Pistachio Pudding) on three of the cards.
I should have included the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack with my supplies, as there are three stamps matching them in the Something To Say stamp set, and they do add a lot of interest as you'll see in this baby card.


These were such a lot of fun to make, with the notecards already cut and scored they can be made very quickly. The envelopes come with them and it is also available in Crumb Cake. It wouldn't be difficult to make up a set of cards to give as a gift to someone either. No doubt you'll find plenty more inspiration in your catalogue. By the way, it hasn't taken me long to get to the same place as Sue was!  I do have every colour of cardstock, and ink, but I do not own EVERY stamp set or piece of ribbon!!! *wink.

Celebrate Spring

In my last post I made a passing reference to spring's arrival , but to continue this tale, my husband and I drove out of the city last weekend. We have a holiday cottage about 2 hours drive out of town. Friday night  it was too dark to see anything, but Sunday afternoon coming home was lovely. The fields are so green and lush, and the first of the lambs are with their mothers. They look so tiny, white and cuddly. One Mamma even had the cutest little twins, such a sweet scene. We had enjoyed some sunshine and fresh air while we were away, and then a lovely fire to keep us warm at night. Everything seems so much better with some sunshine, don't you think? Hey, I hope you realise I live downunder, in Australia, and our seasons are totally opposite to the Northern Hemisphere!

I've picked a huge bunch of white (Erlicheer) daffodils and brought them home to enjoy too, they were growing everywhere, even spilling onto the lawn. At least they can remind me that Spring is on its way even though the rain has returned.
On the subject of Spring, do these colours at Colour Q challenge make you think 'spring flowers'? They do me, so I pulled out my brand-spankin'-new Wondrous Wreath, thinking a floral wreath would be perfect. There are some gorgeous cards to see at Colour Q, be sure to take a look.

The Hardwood panel was cut into four pieces, but it hardly shows unfortunately. The wreath is stamped in two parts, and since this stamp is photopolymer, its quite straightforward to line the images up. There is a third stamp with clusters of berries too. Then there are the matching Wonderful Wreath Framelit Dies to cut it all out, and even better, if you decide to buy them at the same time, you'll get a 15% discount on the bundle.


The cute bow comes with this set too, in both stamp and die and I stamped in Wisteria Wonder and die cut, and another die cut from Rich Razzleberry as a shadow. The flowers were easy too. There are flowers in Pictogram Punches and also in Something To Say, which can be punched out with the flower punch in Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. I wish I could lay my hands on a stamp which says 'Spring' to add to 'Celebrate'. Surely I have one among my huge stash of stamps. I'm very glad that Stampin' Up decided this year to list stamp sets with words in an extra section of the index, it makes it so much easier when you're looking for a particular sentiment. Celebrate comes from Sketched Birthday, with Bitty Banners Framelit Dies to cut it out cleanly.
I thought the sketch at CASE This Sketch was pretty neat, so I used it for a second time. The gallery there is filling up with inspiring cards too.

Case-ing The Catty #6 Kids


I am really enjoying CASE-ing The Catty because it pushes my creativity a little bit further. The card I've CASE-ed is on page 86 of the Australian catalogue, using Boys Will Be Boys stamp set. I liked the way they'd used the Chevron Border Punch, an arrow and star to draw the eye to the sentiment.

I wouldn't have thought to use washi tape at the bottom of the panel, but I'm glad I did as it ties the colours together beautifully. I expect I'm not the only one who buy pretty things, and then just hoards them!
I've added a lot more punched pieces than I'd have normally done AND I'm very pleased with the result.

I make a lot of cards for kids, but I haven't many current 'kid-type' stamp sets. This time I pulled out a great 'any occasion' stamp set,  Pictogram Punches. I bought this set as soon as we were allowed to, because I love the versatility. I like having more stars, hearts and flowers to punch out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, I like the moon to go with stars (makes a super-cute baby card) and I love the vase of flower stems, even though I haven't used that stamp yet.I used Stampin' Write Markers to ink up the  star sentiment, Momento black ink for the birthday greeting. 
Something To Say is another stamp set I ordered very quickly and I have used quite a lot already. It also has the stars, hearts and flowers that match the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, and the Happy Birthday sentiment I used here. There isn't a lot of stamping on my card, it was a good opportunity to use punches and frramelits. I actually used the August Stampin' Up! promotion for Big Shot and Bundles topurchase my Star Framelits and a NEW Bright and Beautiful stamp set from the Holiday Catalogue.
