Hello Friend CTS #85

Sometimes you need a simple little card to pop a quick little hello, or thank you into. Something you can whip up in minutes and get off in the post. When I saw this sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch, this is the design I thought of immediately.
I wanted a clean, simple card and was thinking a single flower initially, but flicking through my stamp sets I came across Peachy Keen from the Occasions Catalogue which recently ended. I didn't use that stamp set half enough while it was current, so I was glad to give it an airing today.
I selected some jazzy colours: Bermuda Bay, Tangelo Twist and Rich Razzleberry.
There are flowers on it, they are just smaller than I'd thought at first, from Something For Baby, with little contrasting Candy Dots in the centres. Apart from that the Whisper White has been mounted onto Tangelo Twist which is a ¼ inch bigger all round, and then onto Bermuda Bay.
Cheers...Rachel

You & Me RS #107

My poor hubby has been in hospital this week for a shoulder reconstruction. It gave us both a bit of a scare when the surgery took almost 5 hours instead of the estimated 1½-2 hours. Just goes to show that he really does have a very high tolerance to pain. I finally was able to bring him home today, and it is a really good feeling to have him safely tucked up at home.

I knew I wanted to use the Ampersand  Embossing Folder for this sketch, and that naturally then proceeded to using 'You & Me' from Perfect Pennants. Those two just fit together so beautifully, and I used my 1¾" circle punch to notch out a spot for the greeting to show. After I trimmed the Strawberry Slush card around the curve of the ampersand, I mounted it on a square of the Silver Foil sheet, and then onto another square, this time Coastal Cabana.

Another greeting which goes really well with this sort of card is 'Never Underestimate the Power of Two' from Yippee Skippee! I used that on the inside with two hearts from the Peachy Keen stamp set and a single flower from Oh Hello. The inspiration sketch is another terrific one from Retro Sketches, I haven't had time lately to enter their weekly challenge, and didn't think I would this week either, even though I have had some time off work. However, the patient is co-operating at the moment, so all is good in the craft cave!!! There's a day or two left on this challenge, why not try your hand at the sketch too? Click on the name to link over to Retro Sketches.

Hope you have some time  this week for what you love...
Rachel

Camera, Action, Smile -RS #99

I was 'in the mood' for a sketch challenge this afternoon, so popped over to RetroSketches to see what the sketch looked like and I sure did like what I found!
The half-circle cut out really appealed to me, and it didn't take too long before this idea came to me. I'm a sucker for camera stamps, so best I get on and ink up Peachy Keen! It has matching dies too and can be bought as a bundle at 15% off if you like cameras too. I used the Circles Collection Framelits for cutting my half-circle from the Sale-A-Bration DSP Sweet Sorbet. Most of the papers in this set of design series are sweet pastels, as the name might suggest, but I really like this bold pattern and mounted it on a mat of black card. The circle of Silver Glimmer Paper with the middle missing is from my scraps, I liked the way the central circle cut-out is off-centre! Some scattered rhinestones add a bit more gleam, and the bold smile greeting is from Happy Day.
Here is another close-up of the card, don't forget to leave a comment if you like my card, I really do get a thrill reading what you say.
Catch you soon,
Rachel
