CASE-ing The Catty #2 Memory Keeping

Welcome back! This week at CASE-ing The Catty, we are casing Memory Keeping (pages 24-41). You can view the catalogue

Like most scrapbookers, I am w-a-y behind. I've decided to use mainly Project Life for my newest grandchild's photos, and that is going really well, but I am hopelessly behind with the grandchild before him. Alice is the only girl in our huge brood, so her photos really should be up-to-date! Anyway, ever since I made some progress, thanks to Project Life, I have had renewed enthusiasm for traditional scrapbooking too, and have managed to get a number of pages done recently. I see no reason at all why the two systems cannot be used in the same album either, as the Project Life Album is a very sturdy ring binder, and traditional 12" X  12" inserts fit quite easily.

I CASE-d page 30 of the Australia/NZ catalogue and I haven't deviated too far from the plan. I'd have loved to have been able to use Smokey Slate but I didn't have a large piece of card in that colour, so made-do with Sahara Sand. I also wished I had the new Little Letters Thinlets so I could make a title like the catalogue sample, but you can't always have everything straight away! The Pictogram Punches stamp set supplied my title, cut with the small Label from the Label Card Thinlet.

I loved the banner on the left side of the catalogue sample, and copied that, putting a calendar and month stamps from the new photopolymer stamp set Project Life Day to Day. I circled the 10 in red, because I've had a visit from Alice (and her mother & brothers) on two consecutive 10ths of July. I have a feeling that it is because it is school holidays, and I am home from work!!!! The ampersand comes from another Project Life stamp set, Remember This. I bought both of them for a couple of reasons. Firstly, they come in handy for scrap booking and card making and secondly, in photopolymer they are so reasonably priced.
I've used photopolymer stamps before and not been so impressed, but these adhere to the blocks really firmly, and I like being able to see where they are going to stamp. I was able to actually line up the dates on the lines.

I also copied the journaling on strips pasted underneath the photos. Some of the Moonlight DSP, was put through the printer before cutting it up. Instead of using a doiley, I stamped  Daydream Medallion onto the background and then smaller medallions on to white card before cutting with Floral Frames Collection and topping with a Baked Brown embellishment. This is a very pink layout, maybe when you don't have many girls in a family, you can go a bit overboard. There's a token piece of  Soft Sky in the frame around the more recent photo of Alice. It has been cut using On Film Framelits. I was glad that those Framelits made it into the catalogue, but also sad, as it appears I have lost/thrown out the tiny camera which is part of that set. Unfortunately, it is so easy to do, when you're having a clean-up!

Happy 60th Carol!

My friend turned 60 last Saturday and I needed to make a pretty card for her. I seem to go to Daydream Medallion every year for Carol, well the last 3 anyway!
As she loves pink, they're usually pink, and this year I added in my favourite, Coastal Cabana. Memorable Moments is my 'go to stamp' for the 'Happy 60th Birthday" and leaves came from the Bird Builder Punch. There are a scattering of Itty Bitty Blossoms punched in various pinks and rhinestones trim the flowers and points on the Raspberry Ripple medallion. The embossing folder is Decorative Dots, available from the SALE-A-BRATION goodies.
Fortunately, the cards always look quite different from the previous years and Carol was thrilled.

Get Well Two Ways For FMS# 106

Do you buy Designer Series Paper (DSP) and then never use it because its too nice and you might run out? I have to confess it is a problem I suffer from, but I'm trying to 'cure' myself!! LOL.  I have forced myself to cut all the NEW DSP I ordered, and have been trying to get it on to cards and scrapbook layouts, after all - I can always order some more - right? 

I really like Birthday Basics DSP and surprise, surprise, on the reverse of some lovely birthday candles is this fresh green flower-sprigged paper, which made me think, "Get Well" card. I Used the sketch by Amy this week, at Freshly Made Sketches for inspiration. Pop over and see what the team did with the sketch. Anyway, partway through my creating I began to have some doubts, and made a second card, using the same sketch, but less of the DSP. I cut two white doilies using the Large Delicate Doilies die and stamped two different  get well messages, but both out of the Express Yourself Hostess stamp set, which has twelve different greetings in a lower case script. I've stamped a blossom, or three, from Flower Shop and punched them out with the Pansy punch, finishing with In Color Dahlias, perfect for flower centres or stand-alone blooms. The lower card has also been stamped with the largest stamp from Daydream Medallion. Ink Colours: Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple.

Now that both of them are finished, I THINK I still prefer the original at the top of the page, but nevertheless, I now have two Get Well Cards for my stash!

Congratulations Medallion PP155 & DD62

Its been a busy day for me, but I had the pieces of this card stamped and cut this morning before I left, and I've assembled it and photographed since I've been home this afternoon. At least I'm not cooking dinner tonight, one of our boys has had a birthday and we are eating out tonight with his wife and him, plus her family and some other friends. Just a casual dinner, so it will be lovely.

I love this large stamp set  Daydream Medallion. It was a gift to attendees at the 2012 Convention, and I have used it a few times, but not as often as I'd like. It's stamped in Calypso Coral onto Whisper White and is so easily cut out with the Floral Frames Collection Framelits.
The base is Calypso Coral card, then Basic Black topped with a piece of DSP from the This and That Epic Day DSP- its very fiery.

I received an order from Stampin' Up! yesterday too, with my Sassy Salutations stamp set. I'd been wanting it for a long time, it has such a gorgeous, flamboyant font, but I put it off because I really do have so many Greeting stamps sets. My resolve melted when Stampin' Up! offered an extra 25% off, but only till July 31st - and that's next Wednesday! I didn't wait long to ink up the 'Congratulations' to add to this card.

You might be wondering what it is in the flower centre. Well, I coloured some large Basic pearls with my black permanent marker. I love the way they still have that pearly sheen. I'm not quite sure if I have the right number though- do I need more, or less?

Birthday Bling PP152

You can't ever have too much bling can you?  Yes, that's what I thought too, so this is what I came up with!

We are so lucky to have so many shades of blue in the Stampin' Up! range but I chose three for my ink and added in another for the card base.

I broke out Daydream Medallion for a change of pace, and overlapped the two large ones. The biggest is stamped with Midnight Muse, the medium one is Bermuda Bay and for the tiny layered ones I used Soft Sky. Maybe it is a little light in colour , it looks quite pretty IRL tho'.
I found that the little, fancy medallion punched out quite nicely with the 1¼ inch scalloped punch and the smallest stamp in the set, with the ¾inch circle punch. The card front has been de-bossed with the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder and mounted onto a card cut from Coastal Cabana.And then I went crazy with rhinestones, placing them on the fancy ends of the larger medallions, the large ones in the centres of the small medallions. and a row to emphasise the greeting.

It's funny when I do these Tic-Tac-Toe challenges - I always get confused! I ended up not being sure if I was working on the centre line down Blue-Bling-Friendship or the diagonal one Birthday- Bling- Embossing and I've used the rather neutral greeting 'to my friend' but the good thing with that is I have two greetings for inside which could suit and are in the same font: 'happy day to you' or 'Thanks so much'!

The latter doesn't belong in Friendly Phrases, but since all are retired now, I have grouped them. I'm not ready just yet to let this old favourite go!
