Springtime Birthday CTS#122

It has been a hectic weekend at my house with our youngest grandson turning one on Saturday and my out-of-town son travelling up to the party separately from his wife and children, as he had to leave early to work night shift back in his town. Because of that, my dear D-I-L and grandchildren stayed on here to celebrate Mother's Day together. Of course, they're quite young children, so our day began soon after 6am!!! My husband cooked a lovely breakfast for us all, and he has volunteered to do a light dinner tonight too. That's a win-win for me. Feeling tired, but happy.

I've had this panel stamped and colored for some time now, and it seemed like a sweet background for the sketch at Case This Sketch. Although this stamp set, So Very Grateful, is one of last years from the Occasions catalogue, I have hung onto it, because its fun to colour. Although lots of demonstrators feel they need to cull their collections the minute they retire, I usually use them for a few more years if I've liked them.

The greeting is one I picked up for a bargain in the retiring list, it has the 'Happy Birthday', 'thank you' and a 'congrats' and was less than $18 for the three woodmount stamps. Hey You is its name if you plan on getting it before they run out.
I've scattered some buttons to 'pin' the banners. The Tempting Turquoise, Hello Honey and Old Olive look good together, don't they? Very fresh.

I hope your day has been a happy one,
Rachel

Happy Blooming Birthday FMS#166

Today, I took delivery of my BBB (big brown box) full of new things for the new year so, in between my weekly cleaning, catching up on Project Life and writing Christmas cards, I
decided to put together a card for Freshly Made Sketches using a stamp set from this year's Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalogue.

So Very Grateful is no longer available, not every stamp set in the mini catalogues makes it into an annual. It is such a fun stamp to colour with Blendabilities (there are new colours in Blendabilities in the Occasions Catalogue) but you could substitute and use the I Like You Hostess stamp or another open-style flower stamp. Its a shame that the 'happy' from the sentiment has been slightly lost in the floral image. Party Pennants Bigz die makes an interesting shape to stamp on and underlined with one of the Boutique Borders strips is a perfect finishing touch. Simple, understated, modern.

I'm very excited by the new stamps and project kits in the upcoming Occasions Catalogue, and can hardly wait to share some of the loveliness with you!
Bye for now

Flowers On The Fence RS#119 CTD#297

This old fence is just a touch wonky, and a little quaint with flowers rambling over.

I think this is one of my favourite colour combinations, mainly because I love Bermuda Bay and those other hues set it off so nicely. I 'built' my fence with Hardwood, stamped on Smokey Slate with Smokey Slate, and then sliced into 'planks' with some 'nails' here and there. I've seen someone else (maybe a demo friend?) use those same 'nails', which are actually tiny button-brads, Vintage Trinkets (118764) and on the retirement list.

I stamped with So Very Grateful, a stamp set we say goodbye to at the end of June also, and the 'Hello" is part of a stamp from Six-sided Sampler. The inspiration picture with its cascade of flowers helped in designing this card. There are flowers from Petite Petals (that set carries over into the new catalogue), the NEW (available 1st July) Something To Say flowers and both of those have matching punches, plus tiny Daffodil Delight flowers punched with the 4-petal punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punches, which is also retiring.
Many thanks to RetroSketches for another great sketch and Color Throwdown for a inspirational color palette.

The weekend looms......YAY!

So Softly Birthday PP189

I decided last night to play another line in Nance's Tic-Tac-Toe challenge at The Paper Players. This time I picked the top line across: Birthday, any punch or die and ribbon or twine. The colours featuring are Pool Party and Coastal Cabana. There's a touch of Crisp Cantaloupe, So Saffron and Pistachio Pudding in the water coloring of a floral image from So Very Grateful, stamped in Stazon. The second size of Deco Labels Collection was used to cut the image out. Originally I cut the size larger in Coastal Cabana too, but it was too large and overwhelming, so I tried the Ruffled Ribbon in the same shade - perfect. The Pool Party embossed layer has used the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder, so classy!

Even the bow, tied with Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon turned out well. Finally, three Basic Jewels pearls in flower centres and a 'happy birthday' from Sketched Birthday.

Have a fantastic Friday!
