Beautiful Birthday and Product Club

I keep a tub of partly finished cards, and from time to time, set myself a challenge to get them finished. In addition to holding home classes to allow others to create with Stampin' Up!® inks, stamps and card, I also sell completed cards. Sometimes it is hard to keep up with demand, hence the need to finish partly made items.

This card uses a flower:- one of 11 stamps belonging to a hostess set, Bloom With Hope, from the previous Stampin' Up!® catalogue. The newer You've Got This would probably make a lovely substitute for this flower. I had coloured some of the white embossed DSP that was available during SALE-A-BRATION but hadn't been used. Luckily, we have something similar to this in the Annual Catalogue, look for Color Me Irresistible on page 142. This seemed to suit the flower, placed on a circle of Bermuda Bay with some white baker's twine to dress it up. The sentiment is from Birthday Blossoms, a recent addition to the range, but snapped up by me quickly for the sentiments in beautiful fonts. Check it out on the product list at the end.

Product Club

You can order Hostess stamps if you are Hostess of a party selling at least $250, or you could also participate in a Product Club. Briefly, you would be part of a 'virtual party' as you would not be obliged to attend an event, and would order online. You commit to place an order of minimum $50 for 5 months, and for one of the months you will be the 'Hostess'. So you do spend the qualifying amount, but it is spread out over several months. Might not be too hard with the Mini Catalogue out in September!!!
In the month that you are Hostess, you get to spend 10% of the total for the month (at least $25). I arrive home from my holiday today, so you might need to allow for a day or two of jet lag, but I will contact you!

Bloom In Hope And Sympathy

Its never fun to make a condolence card, and yet this is a time when the thought that has gone into making a handmade card can be most appreciated. The comfort gained from holding a loving note sent by a friend or even an acquaintance, was something I hadn't realised until my husband and I lost our parents. I remember a card from my mother's doctor made such an impression because he mentioned how much he admired her feisty character and get-up-and-go attitude to life - all so true! Although it is often painful to try to find words of comfort, it is very important to try, so I always have a half dozen condolence cards ready to send, so I can choose a suitable card to write a personal note into. Perhaps this is something you like to do also.

This Hostess stamp set, Bloom With Hope, in the last Stampin' Up!® Annual catalogue was so perfect for these occasions, including an appropriate verse, for a bereavement.

There are some more great Hostess sets in this year's Annual catalogue too, but you need to host a party (or virtual party) to purchase Hostess only stamp sets. This means a minimum order of $250, before shipping, would earn you 10% of your order so $25 hostess dollars, and $30 for a $300 party. With Hostess stamp sets starting at $14 for clear mount, you could even get two!

Sympathetic Hope FMS#165

The sketch by Cindy L. at Freshly Made Sketches gives a very soft feel, and so it made me think of some of my favourite 'soft' colour combinations. Crumb Cake, Lost Lagoon and Night of Navy is the combo here and several Stampin' Up! stamp sets provided the images.
The Crumb Cake splatters are Gorgeous Grunge. Those leaves are from Kinda Eclectic, the frame is a Project Life stamp December Wonder, (136562) which was released in a Christmas supplement. To finish off, the 'with sympathy' is part of the Bloom With Hope Hostess stamp set.

Hopefully, this card is suitably soothing for a sad event.

Stripes and Flowers FMS#161

What a busy weekend! I've had a heap of birthday shopping to do for my November/December grandchildren and my husband's birthday (tomorrow). Sunday I went out with a group of friends and family to see Les Miserables. I hadn't ever seen it before, so I had no idea about the storyline, nor any expectations. It was held at Her Majesty's Theatre in Melbourne, a very fine old theatre, and my daughter-in-law had booked us wonderful seats. The cast were magnificent, the costumes and scenery amazing, which ensured we had several delightful hours of entertainment. Later, we slipped into Chinatown for some yummy dumplings!

Enough about the social life! I wasn't sure that I would be able to complete this challenge for Freshly Made Sketches, but I have. I was determined to get away from the 'pink and pretty' birthday card and settled for Black, White and Daffodil Delight Blendabilities. It's always so relaxing colouring a flower with Blendabilities and you can hardly go wrong. If you love flowers, the hostess set Bloom With Hope is perfect, so many to choose from. I layered and masked just a little and fussy cut them after colouring. I like the fact that it has sentiments and verses for birthdays and bereavements.

However, because of the striped DSP, I felt the birthday label from Tag Talk was better suited here. This card has already made its way into a friend's hand for her birthday. I didn't tell her this morning that it was hot off the press!
