Stampin' Pals: Corner Garden

Congratulations to CAS(E) This Sketch on 100 sketches! That's an amazing number of sketches, and I hope it proves they're here to stay.

Corner Garden provided a way to recreate this week's sketch, quite easily, while Blendabilities gave a shot of colour to the blossoms. It was quite easy really, to ink up just the corner section, centre the corner, and stamp down. After I'd coloured it and added in a pale blue background, I realised it reminded me of loose, summery blouses and sundresses. We are heading into summer, so I'm looking forward to wearing cool, cotton garments again soon.

I wanted a sentiment that would be about the same length as the stamped image, and Four You has Birthday Wishes, which suited. I finished it off by stamping a streak of Pool Party using a stamp from Work Of Art and mounted it onto a Pool Party base.

Feeling Blue In The Corner Garden.

When I saw Corner Garden, it reminded me of red work embroidery. I love the look, but have attempted it only once. Embroidery takes a lot of time and patience, but I do enjoy it, so perhaps, with luck, my eye sight will still be up to the task when I retire.

My first attempt at this card hasn't worked out, so how about I try blue as the main colour? There used to be blue work too, my mother was pretty good at embroidery in her younger days, and I have some lovely supper cloths and doileys made by her, and my grandmother.

When I saw the sketch this week at Case This Sketch I immediately thought of this two-part stamping technique. The design team have some amazing cards up, and the gallery is fast filling with more terrific inspiration.

A few years ago it was all the range to have three layers all stacked up, stamped at one time, but I found the measurements quite confusing. This is much easier, and still looks good.
I inked up Corner Garden with Lost Lagoon and layered with Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral. Those colours were suggested at Colour Me! for their subtle challenge. Don't forget to pop on over to see the cards in the gallery. It certainly is an interesting colour combination, so just for fun I used Stampin' Write Markers to colour the sentiment from Sketched Birthday in a variegated fashion.

We've had a first promise of spring over the weekend in Melbourne, with warm temperatures and sunshine.
