CTC406– Case a Love/Valentine project

The CASE-ing The Catty Crew are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand who take inspiration weekly from the catalogues. The catalogues are a fantastic resource, and we love to inspire you to seek inspiration there too. I have been missing from CASE-ing the Catty since before Christmas and feel so happy to finally be back crafting again.

Favored Flowers DSP is on page 10/11 of the SAB catty with big, bold flowers on one side and slightly more muted patterns on the reverse. It's ideal for fussy-cutting the flowers as a focal point and laying them onto the muted patterns.

Designer series paper was substituted for the Crumb Cake layer and just like the sample, a little background stamping was added. There was an oval from the Framed Florets bundle ready on my craft desk which was a good base to ground the flowers.

The Crumb Cake card at the bottom left is the one I chose to CASE this week. Since I have lots of lovely SALE-A-Bration DSP on hand, I have been on a mission to use it in different ways. There is no point in hanging onto it, because the next lot of pretty papers will be upon us before too long. #loveitchopit.

The layout is very much the same as the catalogue sample but what a difference it makes by making a few changes.

The stamps for the background and the inside of the card are from a mini catalogue bundle, Queen Bee which received its first inking for this project.

Daisies Galore FMS#426

It's been quite a while since I've participated in a Freshly Made Sketches challenge, and I can thank the corona virus shutdown on some extra enforced crafting time. I'm not actually complaining ...yet. So long as Stampin' Up! can continue to ship supplies, I'll be fine. (Actually, I ended up missing the cut-off to link - oops!)

This lovely sketch is one to file for frequent use. It is perfect for #loveitchopit, or whenever you want to let the pretty paper be the star. I'm in possesion of some beautiful NEW paper, coming next month, and featuring in the next Stampin' Up! Annual catalogue.

Ornate Garden Specialty designer series paper is a range of gorgeous floral and foil papers, part of a magnificent suite to be previewed next month, and I've shared 3 of the papers here, using the sketch rotated 90 degrees.

You can put anything in the circle, including a sentiment and I have some more ideas brewing for the strip tucked under the DSP on the left as well. Thanks so much Karren for your wonderful sketch!

Sweet Cup Cakes #loveitchopit

In a matter of days the end of March will be here, and SALE-A-Bration will be over for another year! Can you resist a cupcake? At least these paper & ink confections won't be adding any calories!!!

I always pop this type of stamp in my basket, mainly for birthday cards of course, the type of card I'm sure we all make the most. When it was one of the first choices released for SALE-A-Bration, I selected it straight off, never guessing that there would be a surprise release of matching framelits - woohoo!!! The framelits do need to be purchased but count toward your bonus.

I challenged myself to a stamping session using this stamp, along with a later release co-ordinating one, More Than Words. The sentiment above came from that set, and is made up from 3 separate stamps, believe it or not.

The other self-challenge was to #loveitchopit. You may or may not be aware of this Facebook group, started by Australian Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Kylie Bertucci. It seems that many of us have issues with using our pretty patterned papers, more commonly referred to at Stampin' Up! as DSP. Her suggestion is to cut the paper to a card front size, but I have actually changed the base size to a more even 14.5cm by the width of the card, score at 10.6cm. That makes the layers much easier to calculate by reducing each layer by .5cm.

My first layer measures 14cm by 10cm, the 2nd layer 13.5cm by 9.5cm and so on. It does leave me strips from the base card, but there are ways to use them up too.

Garden Impressions is the paper I am trying to make a dent in here, a really lovely 6 inch square pack of 48 sheets of precious paper. It was my mission to chop it to show it love.

These pieces were cut to 13.5 by 9.5cm and with the one above, it has been cut diagonally, and another contrasting card has been cut to match. Of course, the other half of this paper is ready to use on another card too, and I could easily turn it over and use the reverse of the paper for more variety.

This piece is one of my favourites in the pack with those large, loose flowers. Again, it has been diagonally cut, but both pieces are used on this card. To get the gap in the middle, you shorten the length, and have a perfectly sized strip for finishing the inside layer of the card.
