Colour Creations - Week #45 - Shaded Spruce

The participants in AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop are all Stampin' Up! demonstrators and members of Art With Heart. We love to Blog Hop sharing all the Stampin' Up! Colours alphabetically. This is week #45 and Shaded Spruce is our colour.

When I hear "shaded spruce' I immediately think of trees - well you would too I expect. For that reason, I was determined not to use a tree for this week's challenge. Teen boys have been on my radar lately and Conversation Bubbles seems a good one for them. My only complaint is that there is no birthday greeting in that set, so I grabbed one from Irresistible Blooms which fitted the big bubble.

Rays of Light is the big background stamp which I placed on the Stamparatus for easy multiple stamping.

My class ladies are wanting masculine cards, they must have families like mine with men and boys outnumbering the ladies. They all enjoyed making this card at our March Craft & Chat and although there was a feminine version, this was the one they all chose.

On the inside is an offcut from the Rays Of Light panel, the outline of a Conversation Bubble and stamping from Party Puffin.

It's hard to believe that we have nearly reached the end of our colours, with only a few weeks to go until the new Annual catalogue is in our eager hands! I hope you check in next week to see what the team have made with Smoky Slate.

Colour Creations -Week #40 - Poppy Parade

Sometimes, even when you like the colour, and I do like Poppy Parade, it can be hard to think of a new way to feature it. Inspiration can be sought from designer series paper quite often, but this time I've taken a leaf out of my friend Tina's book and had a look to see what Brian King had combined.

Tahitian Tide and Poppy Parade are very happy companions, I wasn't so sure about the Highland Heather! The answer to that is to use only a tiny amount and it seems to have worked.

In fact, the colours in the finished project remind me so much of Dr Zeus's Cat in the Hat!

I had some fun stamping sentiments on the background in a organised-random way. Yes, that does sound a bit contradictory, but I wanted the words to be straight, while scattered. The Stamparatus helped me achieve that with a combination of step-stamping and moving the white card stock.

There are several sentiments in Best Day so a different one was stamped inside.

Colour Creations - Week #27 - Mango Melody

The participants in AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop are all Stampin' Up! demonstrators and members of Art With Heart. We love to Blog Hop sharing all the Stampin' Up! Colours. This week we are sharing Mango Melody.

Brights are my favourite colour range, so I was more than happy to add Parakeet Party, Melon Mambo, Orchid Oasis and Starry Sky to the mix.

Simply Fabulous is a stand-alone stamp set from the annual catalogue. It features bold sentiments and flowers & leaves calling out for bright colours. Initially I was making just the card above, but it was so much fun I kept going.

After using the Basic Borders Dies, it seemed economical to decorate the inside with the other piece. It even has the stitching.

Cards 2 & 3 were a bit more random. Well, as random as you can be using the Stamparatus for some step-stamping!

That was for the card with 'let's celebrate'. First that was stamped down the card front in Orchid Oasis, before 'hooray' was added in our star colour, Mango Melody.

The other card had the 'thank you' stamped around the big flowers, before filling in with leaves and smaller flowers.

Lovely & Lasting

This afternoon I stamped parts of this card on Facebook using the Stamparatus. I wouldn't have been able to match up those tiles without it. After stamping the flower all-over in Daffodil Delight, I used markers to repeatedly stamp and colour the leaves in Soft Succulent and the flower centre in Starry Sky.

To finish the card, I selected an Orchid Oasis card from the Tea Boutique pack. The tile matt has been fussy-cut, as have the flowers. 2 sheets of the Tea Boutique DSP were torn into strips to adhere behind the tiled piece. A large double bow tied in Orchid Oasis glitter ribbon completes the card.

The sentiments, designed to fit inside the label, are in a variety of clear fonts. I advise to stamp the words first, followed by the label outline, then punch out with the punch upside down and facing you, so you can clearly see what is being punched.

In my video I shared how to step-stamp (or hinge-stamp) the tiled stamp with a stamparatus. The other stamparatus technique shared was repeat stamping, to enable me to colour over Daffodil delight and get a dark centre and green leaves.

Using a Stamparatus For Background Stamps

Wild Roses is a wonderful "all-over" background stamp, which actually stamps an area larger than a standard card base.

Gorgeous Grape was my choice because that's the colour I was wearing, but stamped in a background stamp it is quite overpowering! White was added, including the die cut flowers using Artistic dies, to tone things down.

There is quite a large panel of these pretty roses to work with. The stamp is quite an awkward size to use on a block, and I prefer to put it on the Stamparatus. The image doesn't always ink up evenly, and it is easier to repeat stamp on the Stamparatus.

I also tried out the Spiral Dye background stamp as seen on page 118 of the Annual catalogue.

There is a technique where you turn it 180 degrees and stamp in a second colour.

Using Gorgeous Grape and Mango Melody may have been a poor choice, as it ended up looking like Halloween to me. Anyway, stamping in pastel shades seems a pleasing alternative. Fresh Freesia and Pale Papaya are the subdued pair, next to my card.
