Sunflowers To HollyCTC#286

CASE the Annual catalogue and give it a mini catalogue twist? Mmmmm....

For a while now, I've wanted to try this technique used on the Sunflower card on page 15 of the Annual catalogue. I'm not sure how successful it is on Just Jade, but it certainly helped my creativity kick-start into quite a session of card-making! The holly leaves from Christmas Gleaming (P19 Mini Catty) are beautiful and the open design lends itself to so many techniques.

I'm sure that this particular technique has some snazzy name, but it escapes me!!! Not every leaf is highlighted with white, but all the berries were painted. When the white ink dried I used Real Red re-inker to add colour to them. You can see that some are quite pink where the ink has disturbed the white and mixed with it. They also seemed very dull, so I've painted some with the fine tip glue which gives that glossy look.

This is how the craft session developed, from left to right.
  1.  Technique using white craft ink to highlight
  2. Light colour wash using water
  3.  Water colouring with added ink and a stepped up greeting.

For my second card, I stamped in Just Jade onto white. Using a waterpainter, I've spread the ink as much as I can, before colouring the berries with Stampin' Blends Real Red. The 'Merry Christmas'
has been stamped, cut out and added to the red strip.

Finally, this version was stamped in Just Jade onto Whisper White. Drops from my Jade re-inker were placed on an acrylic block and I watercoloured the leaves, with a light touch. added a red mat behind the stamped piece, and a simple strip to the front. The 'Bright'  die cut from the Joy dies (see them and the Peace & Joy stamp on page 18) really lifts this card. I think this is my favourite, but it was a fun trip to get here!

There is so much to CASE in the Annual catalogue and give a mini catalogue twist. When you've decided, and made your project, share it on our Facebook challenge page please.

Peta Stephen is following me this week, I wonder what her cat Marvi is up to this week?

Holiday Twist CTC#256

Welcome back to another week of CASE-ing The Catty. The crew is made up of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all parts of Australia and New Zealand. You are at the blog of Rachel Palmieri, Independent Stampin' Up!® demonstrator. I run classes at my home studio in South Morang, Victoria, share Stampin' Up!® products and tools at parties for my customers, create Craft By Post classes, coach my lovely team and create cards and the occasional 3D project. This week we are CASE-ing an Annual Catalogue Layout, and giving it a Holiday Twist.

What a fun challenge this was! All I did was leaf quickly through the catalogue and my eye fell on the card on page 88, Welcome To The Team. I have this stamp and have enjoyed using it, so I decided to use the 'from all of us' from this set, along with 'Merry Christmas' from Christmas Gleaming. The 3 elves a-peeking is from #Elfie and the Stamparatus was very useful for lining them up. When I took the picture (above) I thought I was finished, but then went on to make some small additions.

Silver stars surround the Elves, and one of them has a sprig of holly stuck in his hat. I couldn't find a small holly stamp amongst the current stamps, so I took snips and trimmed one from a piece of DSP from the pack Night Before Christmas.

It's kind of nice to finish the inside with a strip of matching paper.

Another sheet of paper from the same pack inspired this second CASE of the desk chair card. It has the 3 elements in the art piece, and a mat behind of red glimmer paper, so it has a slim connection to the original.

Making Christmas Bright is a fun Christmas stamp from the Annual catalogue, and there is a co-ordinating punch for the light bulbs. I wonder what has Peta Stephen inspired this week?

There is always so much inspiration in these catalogues, I'm sure that is why CASE-ing the Catty is so successful! Now it's your turn to show what you can do with a little catalogue inspiration. Add your work at our Facebook challenge here.
