Those Balmy Winter Blues

My favourite colour is blue and there are a lot of new blues in the Stampin' Up! spectrum - as well as greens, purples etc - its a fantastic explosion of colour!!! This Art With Heart blog is a group of demonstrators from all over Australia and we love to get together and create to a specific theme. This is the Colour Creations Blog Hop featuring a different shade each week and this week's star is Balmy Blue.

Something old, something new, nothing borrowed, lots of blue! Blue is my favourite colour and Balmy Blue is a delightful addition to the Stampin' Up! colour range.

Something old was the Touches of Texture stamp set. The lacy stamp is a favourite of mine, look how it turns this into a pretty, feminine card so easily. I've stamped directly onto Tranquil Textures designer series paper. The flower outline and sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy, but when I came to look for ribbon, the new Blueberry Bushel was all that I had in blue that was current. I do want you to be able to purchase items if you want to CASE my card, but you can substitute your preference.

Enjoy Life is a stamp set designed by million dollar seller Connie Fitzgerald. It is a very diverse stamp set, with some sporty images which will be good for masculine cards, but other occasions also. I have only made a couple of cards so far using Enjoy Life, but that will change very soon.

Touches of Floral

Today I'm sharing a card made with two quite expensive stamp sets, Special Celebrations for the sentiments and Touches of Texture for the flowers and foliage. As we end the year, I'm finding pretty cards I've photographed but not blogged. This was one I did early in the year after I came home from Onstage with Special Celebrations as my Prize Patrol stamp set. Wowsers!!I was going to buy it anyway, and it's an expensive one, so that was a win-win.

I scattered the flowers in a pleasing arrangement on the front, and thoroughly enjoyed colouring them.

Don't you think that is a thoughtful verse for a birthday card? I decided it deserved to be surrounded with some more beautiful blooms.

Rose Wonder CTC#129

We are Case-ing our favourite project from the Annual Catalogue, which is really difficult, like picking which of your children is your favourite. You may have just arrived here from Kelly Kent, but if you are starting here, don't forget that blogs are full circle and you can check out what all the design team selected by pressing the next button at the end.

Rose Wonder is a beautiful stamp set with some wonderful sentiments and I CASE-d a card using this on page 133 of the almost retired catalogue, to make my version.

Stampin' Up!® Catalogue Sample

I was searching for something fun for my ladies to make at our next stamp class. It is often hard to decide on something which will challenge them without overwhelming and so I've made a plain sample of white on white, and then my attempt at CASE-ing the other catalogue sample.Again, I glued white to the base, and then I had fun with re-inkers and an Aqua Painter. Also used the speckles from Touches of Texture. I know I will be using Touches of Texture, and probably that particular splatter stamp a lot now that Gorgeous Grunge is retiring. Bonus is, there are some lovely flowers included in the Touches Of Texture stamp set.

I decided not to stress too much when I couldn't cleanly remove all the pieces from the die as it hadn't cut right through, I just went with what I had. Really, the problem was not using the Precision Base Plate which is suggested for more intricate dies.

CASE-ing The Hostess Stamps CTC#124

Stampin' Up!® Annual Hostess Sample

Although this Hostess stamp is in my collection, I decided to use Touches Of Texture, a stamp which will be returning to the Annual Catalogue in 2017. Touches of Texture is a useful stamp because it not only contains three different styles of flowers, but you can use it with or without an outline in one case, which I reckon makes for four flowers - that's a bunch, right? There is even a small dragonfly and bee included, plus lots of lovely texture stamps. A pretty lace background is on the cream art piece as well as the Watermelon background.

Instead of kraft card as my first layer I went up-market with Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate instead. Don't forget to peel the layer of plastic off the silver side before you adhere it. I use Tombow multi-purpose glue sponged on lightly - it works a treat and is invisible!

The gold twine was used in place of linen thread and because there were no sentiments in the stamp set, I grabbed the Iconic Occasions hostess set from Occasions Catalogue, for this 'happy birthday'.

This particular sketch is a really good one for almost any image, so I'll try to remember to use it again.

Great Stampin' Up! Specials & Another Swap - Stampin' Up! ® Onstage Brisbane

When I headed of to Stampin' Up!® Onstage in Brisbane earlier this month I had a bundle of swap cards in my suitcase. I usually find that I can only make a dozen or so due to time constraints, so this year I used Touches of Texture with Cottage Greetings.

Half a doiley in Watermelon Wonder was tucked in the top between a layer of basic black and Real Red which was embossed using the Tief Festive on page 11 of the Annual catalogue. The flowers were stamped in those colours too, and the centres coloured with gold Wink Of Stella. I do wish I'd taken a more detailed photo of this card, but I was in a mad rush right at the end to get everything finished!
