CTC #509 CASE Floral Delight

CASE-ing The Catty Crew are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand who take inspiration weekly from the catalogues. The catalogues are a fantastic resource, and we love to inspire you to seek inspiration there too.

This week we are CASE-ing Floral Delight from pages 33-37 of the mini catalogue. I chose the yellow card at bottom right and it spun off into two cards.

Card one:
The variations to the original were using Mixed Media Florals DSP instead of the background stamping, the same label from Spotlight on Nature dies and a stamped image from Mixed Florals stamp.

The DSP was a black & white piece, which I coloured with blends. The die cut sentiment, wishing, and a stamped sentiment from Delightful Wishes was included. I might have used a coloured label now that I have stepped back and looked at it.

Card two:

For the second card, a piece of basic white was texture embossed, then die cut using Memorable Blooms octogen-shaped label.

Instead of being placed to the right edge, I centred it before attaching it to a black card base.

For this card I coloured the floral image to help it stand out against the background. CASE-ing is a great starting point and can take your creativity in many directions.

Now it's your turn. We do request that the projects you submit have been created especially for this challenge. You can CASE directly or be inspired by a sketch/layout, colour combo or embellishment. Ask to join our Facebook group, and then add a picture of your CASE.

Happy crafting everyone,

Sketch #21 Using January Release Products

I'm following along with the Great American Stampin' Show as they create using the sketches from the catalogue as inspiration. This week it is sketch #21 and as usual, you do not have to follow strictly to the same formula. Use the sketch to get your creativity started.

I wanted to cut both circles from patterned paper so this is 2 sides of the one sheet from Mixed Media Florals DSP, coming in January. Once I'd chosen the paper, it was a matter of deciding on the card base and matt and I have left my comfort zone for this one. My matt has been cut a little larger too.

Colour inspiration came from the Mixed Media Florals DSP, the flowers appear to be Calypso Coral and Petal Pink, while the background is Boho Blue.

Linked Together is a new bundle, available to customers from, January 7 2025. Find it on pages 48-49 of the mini catalogue. It consists of stamps (all sentiments), metal dies and 5 masks which can be used for a variety of techniques. My choice was ink blending with a blending brush and I haven't bothered to line them up particularly.

Mixed Florals has only florals, no sentiments, and they are mostly big bold florals too. This suite will be available January 7th too, but you will only find it in the online shop. It can be ordered through your demonstrator or online.

Sketch #20

I'm following along with the Great American Stampin' Show as they create using the sketches from the catalogue as inspiration. This week it is sketch #20 and as usual, you do not have to follow strictly to the same formula. Use the sketch to get your creativity started.

A simple sketch like this one can be the basis for many cards. I've chosen a new designer series paper, Mixed Media Florals DSP for this one for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I have just arrived home from a month away exploring Australia, connecting with distant friends and family and I am busily catching up on numerous household tasks. Secondly, I received a preorder of NEW Stampin' Up! products this week which won't be available to customers until early January, and I couldn't wait to cut paper and ink up new stamps!!! Mixed Florals bundle, Mixed Media Florals DSP & Mixed Media Florals Memories & More cards are all part of a new online release scheduled for 7 January 2025.

This DSP has the flowers right around the outside, so by cutting squares 9.5cm X 11cm it positioned the pattern on four squares perfectly that a banner wouldn't spoil the design. You could also cut a whole card front, but adding the sentiment below the focal square seemed a good approach.

For a comparison I have shared an image stamped inside the card. You may be aware of the problems manufacturers including Stampin' Up! are having with copyright and rip-off merchants, so to make the process more difficult, the images are often not portrayed at 100% on the cover anymore.

Since it is expensive to employ artists to create these images, it is only fair that they are under copyright. Personally, I love these big, bold florals.
