Teen Birthday Card

A request was made for an 18th birthday card for a young man who loves to be behind the wheel and is into heavy machinery too.

A retired die set came to the rescue with the cogs, always good for a touch of masculinity. Sometimes you really do have to hang onto favourites!

The large numerals are from a retired die set too, but I always keep these good basics. It was a thrill to discover I still had a spanner and ignition key amongst my trinkets as well.

A fancy-fold makes a special card just that bit more special as well.

Teenage Birthday

Round We Go is a fun bundle from the Stampin' Up! Annual catalogue, so we know it will be available until April, but after that - who knows?

It has some fun stamps for two-step stamping, which for these shapes is quite easy. Ink the stamp, stamp to white card, rotate to fill the gap and line up. Then, without inking again, restamp! Even if you're slightly off. it still looks good.

There are four teenage boys amongst my grandchildren, and the challenge is getting tougher each year to make them personalised cards. Sometimes their interests aren't covered in my stamping stash, and that is when I need to use something like this.

Hooray For Surprises is the stamp I picked for both sentiments. The words and font are large and clear and carry a nice message too.

I hope you enjoy looking at the card I made, and happy crafting!

Sketch #15

To help inspire my crafting I'm following along with the Great American Stampin' Show as they use the sketches from the catalogue as inspiration. This week it is sketch #15 and as usual, you do not have to follow strictly to the same formula. Use the sketch to inspire, and don't forget to send the cards you create.

When I sat down to create for this sketch, I wasn't really sure which direction I would take it. There was a temptation to go Christmas again but I do also need more teen birthday cards, so Round We Go won.

The circle dies and stamps partly influenced that decision, plus there was a single line sentiment which fitted the thin banner from the sketch.

This is not quite a Triadic colour scheme if you look at the colour wheel, but it is close, and the colours do appeal to me. Peach Pie and Summer Splash are current 2024-2026 In Colors, and Azure Afternoon revently joined our Brights range.

Below is a card that I shared in February, and I share it again to show you that it uses the sketch too, only upside down!

Trusty Toolbox is the patterned paper and it is currently available in the Clearance Rack only $8.70 for a large pack. Even if you don't have the Trusty Tools stamps & dies, this paper is very usable for masculine cards by fussy cutting the tools. Just click on the highlighted words to check it out.

Colour Creations - Week 43 - Pumpkin Pie

Contributors to this blog hop are all members of Claire Daly's Art With Heart group. We love chatting, crafting and getting together in person. This is week 43 of our blog hop and the featured colour is Pumpkin Pie.

I have to confess that Pumpkin Pie would have to be my least favourite colour in the range, but it has been around a long time and it survived the last colour refresh so I guess someone is buying it!

Card 1

Using a colour sparingly with a lot of white is a good way to deal with an aversion. Ha ha!

This bundle has some interesting dies included - suprises! I have used one of the circles here with stamping hidden in behind.

The verses in this stamp are perfect for the inside of cards and the font is large and clear. I am using these sentiments on many of my cards at the moment.

Card 2

Jungle Pals has been and gone now that SALE-A-Bration is over so hopefully, if you wanted it, you have it. My youngest grandchild is turning six very soon, and this is for him.

Mason told me recently that he likes orange and green, two of the three colours on my summer sandals, so I decided to go with that  for his card. I do think the Pumpkin Pie '6' does stand out beautifully on this mainly green card. And it had to be the large, retired numeral!

The patterned papers have come from three different packs but that is the wonderful thing about Stampin' Up! - fabulous co-ordination!
For someone who doesn't like Pumpkin Pie, I amazed myself with two cards this week. WOW!

I decided that I must add Mason's name to his card before I gave it to him, I do love a personalised card.

Next stop on this hop is my lovely friend Theresa. I can't wait to see what Theresa has made!

Colour Creations - Week 41 - Poppy Parade

Contributors to this blog hop are all members of Claire Daly's Art With Heart group. We love chatting, crafting and getting together in person. This is week 41 of our blog hop and the featured colour is Poppy Parade. I'm rather fond of this bright red and have made 2 cards to share tonight.

CARD 1:

It's so easy to cut a piece of designer series paper in the relevant colour, glue it to a base the same colour and you're part way there. This paper is a SALE-A-Bration free offering with a $90 order and co-ordinates with Trusty Tools, page 56 in the mini catalogue. If you purchase the Trusty Tools Bundle, you can add the paper to your order for free, but only for another week. SAB finishes 29 February.

I had some fun with Stampin' Blends colouring various tools and fussy-cut a saw blade from DSP too before creating an arrangement on a large label.

Hooray For Surprises provided the sentiment on both the front and inside the card. This will be a card for one of my sons later this year.

CARD 2:

My eldest grandson is 16 today, an awkward age for cards until I remember how food, especially junk food is the best way to get him onside. I knew I'd ordered the Host set, Carnival Treats for a reason! You can add it to an order too, if you spend up big and order $250 in one shot.

A little bit of stamping in different colours, some fussy-cutting and some piecing together and I'm thrilled to bits with the result. 'Celebrate' is part of a new stamp, Happy Little Things, to be released online 5th March. The 'sauce' is Pearlized Enamel Effects in Real Red.

All the food items actually only required two colours and the division is really clear, with a thick white line making it so much easier to cut.

An addition of some popcorn and 'YOU' on the inside finishes this card.

Our next lovely team member is Andrea Sargent who is bound to have something AMAZING to share!
