Colour Creations - Week 41 - Poppy Parade

Contributors to this blog hop are all members of Claire Daly's Art With Heart group. We love chatting, crafting and getting together in person. This is week 41 of our blog hop and the featured colour is Poppy Parade. I'm rather fond of this bright red and have made 2 cards to share tonight.

CARD 1:

It's so easy to cut a piece of designer series paper in the relevant colour, glue it to a base the same colour and you're part way there. This paper is a SALE-A-Bration free offering with a $90 order and co-ordinates with Trusty Tools, page 56 in the mini catalogue. If you purchase the Trusty Tools Bundle, you can add the paper to your order for free, but only for another week. SAB finishes 29 February.

I had some fun with Stampin' Blends colouring various tools and fussy-cut a saw blade from DSP too before creating an arrangement on a large label.

Hooray For Surprises provided the sentiment on both the front and inside the card. This will be a card for one of my sons later this year.

CARD 2:

My eldest grandson is 16 today, an awkward age for cards until I remember how food, especially junk food is the best way to get him onside. I knew I'd ordered the Host set, Carnival Treats for a reason! You can add it to an order too, if you spend up big and order $250 in one shot.

A little bit of stamping in different colours, some fussy-cutting and some piecing together and I'm thrilled to bits with the result. 'Celebrate' is part of a new stamp, Happy Little Things, to be released online 5th March. The 'sauce' is Pearlized Enamel Effects in Real Red.

All the food items actually only required two colours and the division is really clear, with a thick white line making it so much easier to cut.

An addition of some popcorn and 'YOU' on the inside finishes this card.

Our next lovely team member is Andrea Sargent who is bound to have something AMAZING to share!

  1. Wow, your cards are fantastic! I love the cluster of tools on the first card, and the sauce on the second looks so dimensional!

  2. I love them both, Rachel! Trusty Tools is such a great bundle for masculine cards, and the paper is just fabulous, isn't it?! What a good idea, to use a Deckled Circles die-cut to complement the fussy-cut saw blade. Your grandson's card is awesome! How did you add the "sauce" to the hot dog? I think he will love this card!

  4. Your second card is perfect for a food loving 16 year old grandson. Great idea to use the Deckled Circles to compliment the jagged saw blade on your first card.

  5. Fantastic cards, Rachel. Love all the tools on the first card, but boy, the one for your grandson, especially with the sauce, is just brilliant. Perfect use of the red Pearlised Enamel Effects!!!

  7. I love both of your cards but I think the first one is the pick for me! I just love the composition of the tools on the deckled circle with the sentiment through the middle! Striking! Your Grandson is going to love the second one and I love the sauce effect! Great cards!
