From The Scraps On My Desk

New catalogue means a time to take stock in the craft room. As I remove retiring card, ink and stamps from the shelves, I also find I've accumulated a lot of half-made projects. They get poked into stamp cases, packs of paper, odd baskets lying around the room - in truth they are EVERYWHERE!!!

Often you can get lucky and create a few projects from the bits and pieces. Mostly you accumulate rubbish which really should be culled. I got lucky this time, and only had to tie a Soft Sea Foam ribbon into a bow before stacking and layering a whole lot of pieces.

This piece was already stamped with two of the images from Amazing Silhouettes, one in Soft Sea Foam, the other in stamped-off Shaded Spruce. The zig zag edge was cut too with the bBasic Borders dies. Penned Flowers has been a favourite of mine for a long while, but along with its stamp companion, Hand Penned Petals, will be leaving at the end of the month. I had a couple of the ornate die cut flowers ready to go.

The inside has been stamped with a sentiment and leaf image from Happiness Abounds. This is another stamp set leaving after starting the year out big, as star of the cover of last year's catalogue. I'm sad to see this one leave too as the sentiments are in a lovely handwritten font and cover all occasions.

I sincerely recommend you check out the Last Chance Sale - there are some items there that are too good to miss if you love to paper craft.

CTC#372 - CASE All Occasions Pages 12-45

The CASE-ing The Catty Crew are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand who take inspiration weekly from the catalogues. The catalogues are a fantastic resource and we love to inspire you to seek inspiration there too. Thank you for visitingthe blog of Rachel Palmieri in Melbourne, Australia.

All Occasions is a huge segment of the catalogue, so there is endless inspiration to pick from here. My choice was a simple daffodil card on page 20. I liked the 3 strips of paper behind, and for my not-so-confident stampers, a perfect card without colouring. They don't always seem to enjoy that!

The Polished Pink card was the one I began with. Hand Penned Petal's larger bloom was stamped in Smokey Slate before die cutting.
One of the Stitched Rectangles was used to cut strips for both cards, using Abstract Beauty DSP.

'Thank You For Inspiring Me' comes from Blessings of Home

Once the Fine Sparkle Adhesive-backed Gems were added, the card seemed to come alive.

Not colouring the image had been difficult! After stamping the smaller blossom from Blessings Of Home, it was a pleasure to colour it with Stampin' Blends.

The sentiment and bee were additions from Honeybee Home.

We love having you join in our challenges. Ask to join our Facebook group, and then add a picture of your CASE, and let us know which card or project you've CASE-d. No blog required, no special qualifications.

And next you're heading to my lovely friend Julia in Queensland, to see her sweet songbirds, I believe.

Farewell Just Jade

At the beginning of May we will bid farewell to 5 retiring InColors, including Just Jade. This green fitted very comfortably into the Stampin' Up! Color Family, and will be sadly missed, I suspect.

This Hand-Penned card uses Just Jade for the card base, ribbon, background stamping and leaves.

A text stamp from the Quiet Meadow stamp set provides background colour and texture to support the main image. This ribbon is retiring too, and is actually selling for only $8.40 a roll in Last Chance Products. Well -worth visiting the online store to see these specials.

CTC#348 CASE A Sketch

T

This sketch is similar to one I frequently use to show both sides of DSP and I decided to use Hand Penned DSP.

The jaunty angle to the paper gives a fun twist. The die cut flowers from the Hand Penned Bundle have been backed with some of the Shimmer Vellum that was sitting forgotten in  amongst other paper.

There are a couple of new upcoming products included - the strip of white card used instead of ribbon has been embossed with a new Gingham embossing folder, and the sentiment is from the Blessings Of Home Bundle.

I bought some Ice Cream Corner designer series paper recently when the Clearance Rack was updated.  It was such a bargain that it was sold out in a few days.

It inspired me to use the sketch with Sweet Ice Cream and the Ice Cream Builder Punch. Punching the pieces from the paper is a very easy way to create these yummy ice creams, the one on the inside of the card has been stamped.

The font on the sentiment is lovely, and I've fussy-cut so that it doesn't cover too much of the image.

I'm the last participant on the blog hop this week, but if you've begun hopping part way around, keep on going to no. 1 on the list, Julia Quinn, and continue back to your starting point.

CTC#345 Inspired By You

T
he CASE-ing The Catty Crew are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand who take inspiration weekly from the catalogues. The catalogues are a fantastic resource and we love to inspire you to seek inspiration there too.

This week we are simply CASE-ing the colours of the Blackberry Beauty Suite on page 44-45 of the mini catalogue. These are Polished Pink, Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry, Early Espresso, Cinnamon Cider and gold.

This is such a luscious combination of colours. Beginning with Blackberry Bliss and a blending brush. one end of the card stock was coloured. Polished Pink was added at the other end and blended in the middle. It was sprayed with water to create a mottled effect, and then some more splatters came from a Stampin' Write marker.

Two images from Hand Penned Petals were stamped in Versamark onto Watercolour paper, and gold embossing powder was added. After wetting paper with water, drops of Polished Pink and Cinnamon Cider ink were added in the appropriate places.

Similar stamping with versamark and gold embossing was done to the card insert. Inspired Thoughts provided both sentiments used on this card.
