Best Day

A second card, also using Best Day but a different stamp was used to make another version using a different colour combination.

After stamping the image in black Memento ink, I used blending brushes to apply colour.

The image was cut using Stitched Rectangles dies. and layered skewed over a Poppy Parade rectangle of a similar size.

The party streamer stamp was used on the inside of the card, in the background of the focal piece and heat embossed in white on the card base.

Quiet Meadow

Quiet Meadow
has been used once already this week on a very different card, with very different colours. This is a much softer version.

A couple of different sprigs have been die cut  and bunched together for the focal piece. A small linen bow is the finishing touch.

The text stamp from this lovely set has been stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in white. A blending brush with Soft Seafoam ink has been rubbed over the area, emphasising the text and providing a defined space for the foliage to be placed.

Colour Creations Merry Merlot

The participants in Colour Creations are all Stampin' Up! demonstrators and members of Art With Heart. Each week we share projects made with a selected colour from the Stampin' Up! range. For week 27 we are sharing Merry Merlot, a lovely colour reminiscent of the wine whose name it carries.

I've teamed a little Merry Merlot with Gray Granite and Soft Succulent for a soothing colour palette.

Masks and blending brushes are fun to play with and the effects often drive the direction of the card, I find. After experimenting with the tree trunks from the Basic Masks, leaves seemed to be the logical next step. Forever Fern is such a favourite, so I reached for it again.

Stamping, and stamping a second time without reinking gives a delightful variation of colour.

Next talented team member to share is the lovely Christine Blain

Masculine Birthday Card + 2 Techniques

Approaching Perfection is a SALE-A-Bration stamp set, so only available for the rest of this week (ends FEB 28)free with your $90 order. I saw a card by Artisan Angela Meiritz-Reid using this stamp, which inspired me, but I haven't been able to find it to link. It was mainly the stamp being used as a background. I was stuck on what to make for my son turning 45. I always think of him as a black & white kinda guy, so I thought the comparison with a newspaper was appropriate.

I used the Stamparatus to set this up and with trial and error discovered that I needed to do the step-stamping across the card and not down, as the stamp is deeper than it is wide and it overlapped when stepping down. I used that bit of card to cut the star template for using with Melon Mango ink and a blending brush.

Pattern Play is a stamp in the Annual Catalogue bundled for 10% savings with the Playful Alphabet dies, and I find it a handy one for additional little touches of colour. You Are Amazing provided the large sentiment, a big, bold greeting is sometimes just what you need, either inside or out.

'Happy Birthday' is also from Approaching Perfection, another handy sentiment, and here it has been heat embossed in white onto black card.

Technique #1 Step-stamping using the Stamparatus

Technique #2 Making a template, using blending brushes.

You can make your Stampin' Up! order through my online store, and for every $90 ordered you can choose a Level 1 gift, Level 2 require a $180 spend.
