CTC #485 CASE a Water Colour technique

CASE-ing The Catty Crew are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand who take inspiration weekly from the catalogues. The catalogues are a fantastic resource, and we love to inspire you to seek inspiration there too.

The assignment is CASE a watercolor technique and several are shared on pages118-119 in the Stampin' Up! annual catalogue. Firstly, a disclaimer, I am by no means an expert here, but I do watch others and thought I could give it a try. So I have CASE-d water colouring like for the pears in sample one, but mine is sloppier!

There are two choices when you watercolour. You can stamp in Stazon ink which is waterproof, or you can heat emboss. The second method wasn't actually mentioned in that section, but I went ahead, stamped Layers of Beauty in Versamark onto Fluid 100 5" X 7" watercolor paper and applied white embossing powder.

This created another problem for me as white on almost white is difficult to see! I was attempting to selectively wet portions of the image e.g. the flowers or the leaves to prevent colour from running between them. It was challenging but I am happy with the result.

I like to create a palette on a large acrylic block and drop ink there to dilute with more water. I have used a mix of Pretty in Pink and Petunia Pop for the roses and Granny Apple Green in different strengths for leaves. A very diluted Granny Apple Green was applied to the background.

Now it's your turn. We do request that the projects you submit have been created especially for this challenge. You can CASE directly or be inspired by a sketch/layout, colour combo or embellishment. Ask to join our Facebook group, and then add a picture of your CASE.

Next along the hop is the amazing Andrea Sargent.

I have been an active Stampin' Up! demonstrator for 14 years, and thanks to my wonderful team, I am at Silver Elite level. One of the joys of crafting is sharing it with others, so I hold monthly classes both in my home and in the community. Do get in touch if you have questions about classes or Stampin' Up! products.

Apple A Day

An apple a day keeps the doctor away is the old saying, so it is fitting that Apple Harvest includes a sentiment, "hope you are feeling better'.

I was keen to try some more colouring with Stampin' Blends on the apple and blossoms. The leafy die is from Around the Bend and I wanted to show off more of it then I managed, but maybe another time.

Colour Creations - Week #4 - Pebbled Path

Pebbled Path is our fourth In Color, a very useful neutral which I have really enjoyed creating with this week. I'm sure the Art With Heart team members participating in the Colour Creations Blog Hop this week will share some amazing inspiration for us all.

I have chosen Beside Me for the stamp set. This time I used the Father's Day sentiment, heat embossed in black.

The dramatic die cut piece is from the Around the Bend set, and with the added ink on a blending brush, adds texture behind the father & son image.

The inside was stamped with a couple of sentiments from Beside Me, and another partial image from that set too. I wanted it to seem like the little boy was the only child.

Week #2 when we focused on Copper Clay I made the first card using Beside Me and now for week #4 here it is again. Make sure you return next Wednesday to see more of Wild Wheat, the fifth In Color.

The very talented Rachel Woollard follows, I'm looking forward to seeing Rachel's card.

If at any time you find a broken link or would like to see a full list of participants, please head to the blog of our host of the AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop, Catherine Proctor.

Colour Creations - Week #47 - So Saffron

The participants in AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop are all Stampin' Up! demonstrators and members of Art With Heart. We love to Blog Hop sharing all the Stampin' Up! Colours alphabetically. This is week #47 and So Saffron is our colour.

So Saffron is our palest yellow, but we have a colour refresh coming at the beginning of May, and So Saffron leaves to be replaced by Lemon Lolly.

A cluster of teacups in So Saffron was my choice this week. All three were stamped, and the one on the far left had the surround of the leaf images filled in with a Stampin' Blend in So Saffron. Cup of Tea is an Annual catalogue selection, and it will also be retiring soon.

Products from the mini catalogue used on my project were Conversation Bubbles and the curved scallop border die from Around the Bend.

Tahitian Tide is a lovely bright turquoise blue which contrasts beautifully with So Saffron.

Next talented team member to share is the wonderful Andrea so let's see how she has used So Saffron!
