Week 11 AWH Colour Creations Weekly Showcase - Coastal Cabana

This week, some of our team members at Art With Heart are sharing Coastal Cabana with you. At one stage through the last 10 years it was an In Color, and I for one, was thrilled when it returned after the colours were updated a few years back.

Coastal Cabana is so bright and clear, I couldn't resist adding Magenta Madness and some Highland Heather to the mix.

The background stamp is a new one called Drybrush and when you mount it on a Stamparatus plate, it is fairly easy to make this tri-colour background.

Coastal Cabana is not available in the blends, but never let that stop you, just focus more on the other colours. The Colour Creations Showcase is organised by Catherine Proctor, so if you pop back to her blog, you can click on the next name on the list. You & Me RS #107

My poor hubby has been in hospital this week for a shoulder reconstruction. It gave us both a bit of a scare when the surgery took almost 5 hours instead of the estimated 1½-2 hours. Just goes to show that he really does have a very high tolerance to pain. I finally was able to bring him home today, and it is a really good feeling to have him safely tucked up at home.

I knew I wanted to use the Ampersand  Embossing Folder for this sketch, and that naturally then proceeded to using 'You & Me' from Perfect Pennants. Those two just fit together so beautifully, and I used my 1¾" circle punch to notch out a spot for the greeting to show. After I trimmed the Strawberry Slush card around the curve of the ampersand, I mounted it on a square of the Silver Foil sheet, and then onto another square, this time Coastal Cabana.

Another greeting which goes really well with this sort of card is 'Never Underestimate the Power of Two' from Yippee Skippee! I used that on the inside with two hearts from the Peachy Keen stamp set and a single flower from Oh Hello. The inspiration sketch is another terrific one from Retro Sketches, I haven't had time lately to enter their weekly challenge, and didn't think I would this week either, even though I have had some time off work. However, the patient is co-operating at the moment, so all is good in the craft cave!!! There's a day or two left on this challenge, why not try your hand at the sketch too? Ampersand Embossing Folder 132970 Occasions Catalogue

Thanks Much Six-sided Sampler

This is a simple CASE of a card in the Stampin' Up! Catalogue, page 125. It uses the stamp set Six-sided Sampler and a clever (but easy) little punched out centre.
The colours are Coastal cabana, Smoky Slate and Pistachio Pudding ; lovely and restful, aren't they?
I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig for placement, it didn't end up exactly the same, but very nearly. The dimensions of the cards may be different.
Another difference is the 'button' on the greeting. I don't have any Smoky Slate buttons, so  I punched a 3/4 inch circle and placed a large pearl on top. I think it looks really cute.
We have had a lovely time in Ireland with relatives who live there, I must get this card in the post to them.

A Slice of (Sketched Birthday) Cake

Sketched Birthday (page 13) is a set of eight stamps which can be used as plain black and white images, they can be coloured, or they can be stamped with white ink onto black card for the Chalkboard Technique.
Coastal Cabana is a NEW In-color which looks great teamed with Bermuda Bay. The DSP is from the In-color DSP Stack, this pattern has polka dots on the other side. Strawberry Slush seemed a perfect colour for the icing on the cake with a Crushed Curry candle flame. The greeting is also part of Sketched Birthday and the Ink to Rubber Technique allows you to use multiple colours.

The inside has more of the In-color DSP Stack, balloons from Sketched Birthday and two greetings from Remembering your Birthday. That is another NEW stamp set with eight paired stamps. In many cases you would be able to place one on the front of the card and the other inside,  or the way I have with both on the inside.

Pick and Mix a Six-Sided Sampler

Another card from my "Pick and Mix" class on Friday night was this Six-Sided Sampler stamped using the Stamp-a-ma-jig. With the huge range of ink colours, plus the lovely patterns on these hexagons, it gave the ladies such a choice in ways to make their own cards individual.
One card was made totally using Real Red and the gingham hexagon and it looked fabulous. Another card maker incorporated a strip of card, paper pierced and hand stitched, because it will be a birthday card for a patchworker. What a perfect idea!
My sample was purposely kept to one layer with just one shape raised on Dimensionals. I used Strawberry Slush, Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana and Crushed Curry.Of course, with the Hexagon Punch to punch those shapes, this was a quick and easy card.

In October, I will be offering Quick and Easy stamping classes, so if you haven't had much experience with stamping, or you tried it, but didn't enjoy it, perhaps a Quick and Easy class in October will be the answer to discovering your creativity too.

Birthday Bling PP152

You can't ever have too much bling can you?  Yes, that's what I thought too, so this is what I came up with!

We are so lucky to have so many shades of blue in the Stampin' Up! range but I chose three for my ink and added in another for the card base.

I broke out Daydream Medallion for a change of pace, and overlapped the two large ones. The biggest is stamped with Midnight Muse, the medium one is Bermuda Bay and for the tiny layered ones I used Soft Sky. Maybe it is a little light in colour , it looks quite pretty IRL tho'.
I found that the little, fancy medallion punched out quite nicely with the 1¼ inch scalloped punch and the smallest stamp in the set, with the ¾inch circle punch. The card front has been de-bossed with the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder and mounted onto a card cut from Coastal Cabana.And then I went crazy with rhinestones, placing them on the fancy ends of the larger medallions, the large ones in the centres of the small medallions. and a row to emphasise the greeting.

It's funny when I do these Tic-Tac-Toe challenges - I always get confused! I ended up not being sure if I was working on the centre line down Blue-Bling-Friendship or the diagonal one Birthday- Bling- Embossing and I've used the rather neutral greeting 'to my friend' but the good thing with that is I have two greetings for inside which could suit and are in the same font: 'happy day to you' or 'Thanks so much'!

The latter doesn't belong in Friendly Phrases, but since all are retired now, I have grouped them. I'm not ready just yet to let this old favourite go!

All About You! FMS92

I had partially made this card before we went away this weekend, but hadn't had time to photograph it or blog, so it's catch-up time now.

I think Bermuda Bay might just be my new favourite colour, I'm even wearing a top and cardigan in those colours as I type this. {smile}



I stamped one of the border stamps from Mosaic Madness onto the Bermuda Bay base and used Coastal Cabana to stamp three of the cute little shapes onto Whisper White and then punched them out with the Mosaic Punch. Don't you just LOVE it when Stampin' Up! make it that easy, with a punch to match a shape?
Those shapes are lined up on the left and look gorgeous with a little added bling. The right side is simply stamped in Bermuda Bay with a stamp from Really Good Greetings and underlined with another stamp from Mosaic Madness. I added some more rhinestones to that and called it finished.

There are so many variations in that stamp set, 11 stamps in total! You will find it on page 123 of the new catalogue. I used Mosaic Madness for this card too.

I'm back from a delightful, but exhausting weekend with three of my grandchildren. Always lovely to spend time with any of my children, and their wives and children, we are very blessed.

I have two weeks holiday so I'm looking forward with excitement to the release of the new catalogue on Tuesday, I've had plenty of time to browse through it and make lists. Do you want to see the new catalogue too?
