Best Things STS#23

Have you found your favourite new In Color in the Stampin' Up! range yet? I'm see-sawing between Lost Lagoon (blue) and Blackberry Bliss (deep purple) but it's Blackberry Bliss I've used today. I wanted to make some cards using other suggested colour combinations. This combination is Blackberry Bliss, Smokey Slate and Melon Mambo.
Feel Goods is a lovely stamp set with 5 'word' stamps, quotes or just well known phrases, like the one chosen for this card:- the Best things in life aren't things.
I stamped it onto Watercolor Wonder DSP, a faint Smokey Slate spot, before cutting it with one of the Apothecary Accent Framelits. I decided paper piercing was in order for this large label too, the template is from the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack. I have fallen in love with paper piercing, its so easy to do and adds an interesting definition to a card.

The new Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, along with the matching flower from Something To Say have been getting a big workout in my craft room lately, just because they're new, exciting and oh-so-cute! However, I decided to add in some blossoms from Petite Petals this time also, both stamped and punched and just punched.
Using the sketch from Seize The Sketch really helped me put this card together, but if I'd looked a little harder, I'd have also added a thin piece of Melon Mambo ribbon under the label cut out of Smokey Slate. Lots of the design team haven't used ribbon, but I think it would have probably been a positive addition to my card,

Now, there's no time to linger, as I have a visit with my youngest grandchild happening in an hour, and what can be sweeter than an 8 week old baby?

Post script: Found out today, 9th July, that Jen at Sieze The Sketch has picked this card as a runner up! Happy day, happy dance!

Sunshine and Happiness CTS#80

It's beginning to feel a bit more like winter here in Melbourne now. I don't like dull days and dreary rain too much.  To cheer myself up, I decided to work with bright shades of yellows, and that progressed to flowers and butterflies. It worked anyway!!

Thanks to Joni Andaya for the sketch on CAS(E) this Sketch, it was just what was needed to encourage me to break out some washi tape and my new stamp set, Kinda Eclectic plus an older set, Feel Goods.

To my way of thinking, this is perfect for a RAK card. That is:- Random Act Of Kindness, if you haven't come across it yet. I think it can be rather special to get unexpected "Happy Mail" and I'm sure I will think of someone to post this to. On a much larger scale, I recently saw a RAK clip on YouTube. Young people went around giving out back packs filled with gifts, to homeless people. It was very moving, these gentlemen were so thrilled by a gift of a backpack to keep their meagre possesions in, and you should have seen their faces light up when they discovered a new notebook, or a $10 voucher for Subway!
It's titled 'He Set Out to Make People Happy' and you might care to click the link and watch.

Thanks for reading my blog, have a happy day,
Rachel

Pretty in Pink FMS #105 and DD #72

Spring seems to have arrived in the southern hemisphere, the sun is out and I feel happy!
I have had a lovely weekend despite feeling a little unwell with a sore throat, but an early night and 11 hours sleep seems to have helped. We had afternoon tea yesterday to celebrate my son's birthday with his family and today we enjoyed our garden in the morning and visited friends in the afternoon. It's so nice to get together with friends and family, and there seems to be more time to do that as the days grow longer.

I'm loving this sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, it is so versatile that I made another card this evening using the colors in the Dynamic Duos challenge.
The greeting is from Feel Goods, the oval chevron and flower are from Oh Hello and the colors are Blushing Bride and Primrose Petals.

Glad you popped by to take a look at my card,
Rachel
