It's A Boy! PP193 & DD100

Today started with lovely Autumn sunshine, but has become drearier as the day progressed so I do not feel guilty in the least, escaping to indulge in some card making.
This time I've gone for a baby boy card. My daughter-in-law, due to have a little boy in June, has had to stop work this week, to allow her little man to gain some weight. A work colleague, due to deliver in the same hospital as my D-I-L, same week too, is expected to finish work at the end of next week. There are others coming this year too, so you can never have too many of these cards in your stash.

I've stuck with the final colour challenge from the wonderful team at Dynamic Duos, Pool Party, So Saffron and Smokey Slate.
(Dynamic Duos design team -Please reconsider!)

I've used three Stampin' Up! stamp sets for this card and the sketch from Anne Marie The Paper Players. You must check out the design teams cards, I want to CASE everyone of them! I have to say I was glad I'd ordered the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack (130135) because I have a enormous supply of perfectly colour-matched patterned paper now. I embossed with the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder (129984) and layered my strip and square of subtles paper onto Whisper White. It gave a 'cleaner' look than when I had it on the matching colour.

I used only one footprint from Baby Prints (125472 C) because two needed a larger circle or some toes were amputated! I then used Smokey Slate to stamp 'it's a boy'  from A Dozen Thoughts(131056W) , over the top and under that 'congratulations' from Cuddles & Kisses (131913). I will use a verse from Cuddles & Kisses inside too. I believe this stamp set and Baby Prints are retiring in the US, so chances are they will here too. Check them out on page 56 of the catalogue to see if you might need them.

There is an underline on the greeting, in pearls, and three to the right, as well as a loop of the retired ruffled ribbon in Pool Party.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog, leave a comment if you like,
Rachel
Exciting news!
LeAnne picked my card as a 'Cut Above' at the Paper Players! You made my day LeAnne!

Sending Good Thoughts DD#96 & RS#108

Even I didn't think I could follow a sketch as closely as this! Just found this sketch at Retro Sketches fitted exactly with an idea I had brewing, how fabulous! I still have quite a bit of the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper stack (129312) left to use, and since it is in the clearance rack at only $7.99, more than one of my customers have taken advantage of the special price and purchased it, so maybe they're looking for some fun ways to use some. I had already cut the patterned paper into strips and mounted it onto Gumball Green when I spied a color challenge that would work with my card. Dynamic Duos have challenged this week with Gumball Green and 'your choice': - my choice is Primrose Petals
I echoed the design on the paper with an embossing folder Beautifully Baroque, and after it was attached I put it through the Big Shot again and 'ironed'  the pattern flatter for a very subtle pattern. My centre piece is a banner stamped with a sentiment from Perfect Pennants, although the last two words are covered with the mother's day greeting from Teeny Tiny Sentiments. The Word Window Punch is ever so handy and a Gumball Green banner from Bitty Banners Framelits really sets it off. In Australia, Mother's Day is early May (I actually don't know if it is the first or second Sunday, maybe my children will set me straight!) I expect I will make a good few more Mother's Day cards before then as my work colleagues like to purchase for their mothers.

We are still having very warm weather for Autumn, (30°c) but it is cool in the mornings and evening, such a lovely time of year! I have had a busy day at work, but needed good light to photograph my card.
Have a good week...

Wedding card

I have been a bit distracted lately with the arrival firstly of my pre-order for the new annual catalogue and then a few days later with the pre-order for the Holiday Catalogue, both due to go on sale on September 1st. This means I have been thinking about and making samples for a catalogue launch, as well as finishing a lot of half done scrapbooking and cards. Only trouble is, I am never finished, because something new keeps getting started!

I think it is time for a challenge, and I have chosen the Dynamic Duos challenge: River Rock and Black with the option to use brads.
.

My wedding card is 5.25 inches square on a black base, with a second layer from River Rock in Neutrals designer series paper pack. The Very Vanilla has been stamped in River Rock ink with a floral design from Elements of Style (page 113) and a little greeting from a retired stamp. I mounted the Very Vanilla on a square of Basic Black card and lay a strip of black across the card too. On top of that is a strip of crochet ribbon, and a scattering of pearls on the flower centres.

Inside is fairly plain, just a strip of River Rock stripe scalloped and laid across the bottom of the Very Vanilla insert, and a greeting from Love and Laughter, which reappears in our annual catalogue on page 38. It was in our Autumn-Winter mini and must have proved its worth to be carried over. The greetings are useful for wedding and engagement cards, and I have even used the little trio of flowers to edge a birthday card.

Maybe you have been inspired to try this colour combination. Why not go to dynamic duos and check out the other submissions?
