Delightful Daisies #GDP139

A couple of months ago I took the plunge and began chopping up my Designer Series Paper (DSP) and at first it was painful!!!! And in fact it was even more painful when I realised I need a half dozen 8" by 8" pieces for a project I am demonstrating this weekend. I just had to order some more, that was all there was for it!

The Global Design Team have a challenge theme ; Just A Note to Say.....

and that is exactly what these cards have been created for, paper hugs to send by mail.

This DSP is called Delightful Daisy (#144137) and at the end of the month, only a week or so away, it will be gone from our product line. Luckily the Daisy Delight stamp set and Daisy Punch are carrying over to the new catalogue, but they will not be bundled together at 10% discount any longer.

With these cards, I've used Lovely Words Thinlets and sentiments from Lovely Inside and Out. Both of these are retiring too, but until they do you can buy them in Australia bundled for $72.00. That is 12 stamps and 3 framelits (#145324). Having the DSP cut to size really speeds up the creation of a bunch of new cards. I cut mine 9.5 cm by 13.5 cm if I'm placing it on a contrasting card, otherwise it's a half centimetre bigger to go straight on a base.

Quilted Christmas CTC #144

This week at CASE-ing The Catty, we are sharing with you a glimpse of the Holiday Catalogue. Do you have your copy yet? I get very excited by a new catalogue, and no matter how hard I try, I usually buy more than I really need! We are CASE-ing pages 4-9 of the catalogue, and I settled for a card on page 4 which is a very standard sketch. You can't go wrong using this design for any type of card.

The design features patterned paper as a base, and a strip of plain card with an embellishment on the far left and the sentiment on this wide strip. My card is in the standard Australian measurements, not the square format shown in the catalogue, and children's birthdays is the section in my stash which needed replenishing.

Beginning with one for girls, I used this lovely floral print from the Pick a Pattern DSP and the poodle and sentiments are from Birthday Delivery. The poodle has been stamped on thick Whisper White, die cut and lightly coloured in pink. She is adorable!!!

Because the base is black, it was important to finish off the inside of the card and I do like the inside to be as nice as the front, if possible. The strip of patterned paper has been mounted on a slightly wider strip of black, which does give a really nice, 'finished' look. I do this with most of the cards I send to friends and family, but I don't usually teach it in classes as it would take too long. Do you think it is worth decorating the inside of the card if it is light-coloured? What about envelopes?

Here's the other version, still using the Pick a Pattern papers. No Bones About It is a fabulous stamp set for boys, because dinosaurs are a favourite with boys of any age. It didn't ever come with dies, so I was happy enough to stamp it straight on the white strip. The card has a crisp, clean look about it, despite the muddy footprints!

Again, the inside has been finished off the same way, with patterned paper mounted onto black. A few more of those footprints are trailing along the inside of the card too.

For my third card, I CASE-d the other sketch from the catalogue. Again, this is a good, basic design to use. I followed the square format this time, with a plain base, a smaller square of paterned paper and a thin strip for the sentiment, another slightly longer under and the focal point to the right.

Again, this stamped image is from Birthday Delivery, and I coloured her to match the paper. This pattern paper is Delightful Daisy DSP,  it's very pretty and easy to pick colours from it for the card. Flirty Flamingo and Soft Sky are for the card, the wee girl's dress is Wisteria Wonder.

Pocketful Of Daisies

Daisy Delight and  Daisy Punch totally took Stampin' Up!® by surprise. They had no way to predict how popular this stamp and punch bundle would be. In the first 6 weeks it was available, more than 7000 were sold, which is about what the analysts had predicted would sell in a year!

This meant that the order code for this bundle, and even the punch on its own, had to be de-activated for 4 weeks while urgent shipments were sent to all markets. It is hard to say why this happened. Yes, it is a charming set, but is this the real reason? I have no idea....

I have to admit that this is one of my favourite cards I've made with this suite, and it includes some of the Daisy Delight designer series paper. There are stamps for the pocket outline, a couple of choices of trim, the little tag which can be stamped with several different acronyms, oh and the cute sunglasses!

Daisy A Day

Can't remember who sang that song, "I'll give you a daisy a day" at the moment. Maybe it will come to me in the early hours.... or I could just Google it!!!

This card was made as a private personal challenge to not use the Daisy Punch. It's not that I don't like the punch, I sure do, but there have been some concerns that they will be on backorder soon after the catalogue goes live on June 1st. You don't HAVE to have the punch to make a pretty card with Daisy Delight, but you might prefer to buy them bundled together at 10% discount if you like to make every dollar count (like most of us!). This is another of the pretty papers in that suite, Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper.

Everyday Occasions AWH Blog Hop

Tonight I am participating in a blog hop along with the super talented ladies in the Art With Heart Team. We thought it would be fun to share some fabulous ideas to inspire you from our brand new 2017-2018 annual catalogue, which is available 1st June. I was so excited to win Special Celebrations in Prize Patrol at Onstage, I'd already marked it in the catalogue as a 'must buy'! Stampin' Up!® are a very generous company and there are some nice little sweetners like Prize Patrol that keep us coming back to these events. I think maybe it is also getting together with all the other crafty folk who go to these functions too!

 Anyway, I was mighty pleased to bring Special Celebrations home with me, and started using it as soon as possible. For my first card I've paired it with Bella & Friends, and Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper. I ordered the paper without the stamp or punch which is part of the suite, because I thought the paper was just too gorgeous to wait for!

The sweet puppy has been stamped onto a Stitched Shape Circle, along with the Happy Birthday sentiment. Burlap ribbon has been laid behind for a little more interest.

 This accompanying verse for birthdays is lovely, don't you think?

I totally enjoy water colouring now, and used the Aqua Painter with ink from the lid of the ink pad. The new glitter enamel dots are a perfect finishing touch, with gradients of colour and speckles through them.

With this paper, also from the Delightful Daisy DSP pack, I used a flower from Garden In Bloom. It seems to go quite nicely with this paper, and I took a cue from the colours and added some Tranquil Tide to the flower. I love it! What about the Faceted Gems? This is the gold, and there is clear too. It's a great flower centre. I nearly forgot to mention this new copper trim. It is a loose weave, so you can leave it as a slim ribbon. or tease it out a little, as I have here, and it is like net.

I hope you're feeling excited about the new Stampin' Up!® catalogue, I certainly am. Every time I walk into my craft room, I have an urge to make something, and I've only a handful of new products at the moment.
