Colour Creations Insta Hop - Week # 44 - Poppy Parade

Contributors to this insta-hop are all members of Claire Daly's Art With Heart group. We love chatting & crafting together. This week is week #44 and we are creating with Poppy Parade.

Thankful Garden is a new Online Exclusive, released March 4th along with lots more Online products. I liked this one so much I ordered the suite, which includes stamps, dies, masks, patterned paper and ribbon.

The other flower is a lovely Hydrangea, but this flower seemed more likely to be a bright Poppy Parade. Country Woods DSP was out on my desk for another card I was making, and I decided the textured wood made a great background for the flower.

This bundle is perfect for those of us who don't always want to colour with Blends or pencils. There are 5 masks in the Thankful Garden bundle, 3 are for the two flowers and 2 are for the leaves.

Placing the masks over the stamped image allows you to layer on colour with a blending brush and even with the one ink colour you get a pleasing variation. I used only Poppy Parade and Old Olive.

I hope you are inspired to create,

CTC #509 CASE Floral Delight

CASE-ing The Catty Crew are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand who take inspiration weekly from the catalogues. The catalogues are a fantastic resource, and we love to inspire you to seek inspiration there too.

This week we are CASE-ing Floral Delight from pages 33-37 of the mini catalogue. I chose the yellow card at bottom right and it spun off into two cards.

Card one:
The variations to the original were using Mixed Media Florals DSP instead of the background stamping, the same label from Spotlight on Nature dies and a stamped image from Mixed Florals stamp.

The DSP was a black & white piece, which I coloured with blends. The die cut sentiment, wishing, and a stamped sentiment from Delightful Wishes was included. I might have used a coloured label now that I have stepped back and looked at it.

Card two:

For the second card, a piece of basic white was texture embossed, then die cut using Memorable Blooms octogen-shaped label.

Instead of being placed to the right edge, I centred it before attaching it to a black card base.

For this card I coloured the floral image to help it stand out against the background. CASE-ing is a great starting point and can take your creativity in many directions.

Now it's your turn. We do request that the projects you submit have been created especially for this challenge. You can CASE directly or be inspired by a sketch/layout, colour combo or embellishment. Ask to join our Facebook group, and then add a picture of your CASE.

Our next talented crew member is Rebecca Scurr

Happy crafting everyone,

One More Year with Wine

While I had One More Year out I kept going and made a simple card using the wine and cheese image.

There are a nice variety of birthday sentiments in this set, but I wasn't a fan of the second line of this particular sentiment, so a literal cut & paste did the trick.

Inside is a second sentiment from One More Year and a partial image. Do you have a friend this would suit? I certainly do!!!

All products used to make these cards are Stampin' Up! and are available in my online store or contact me to find out more details.
It is a good time to shop during February as SALE-A-Bration continues until the 28th where you earn free product with every $100 increment of your order, so one stamp/die bundle will usually get you there, but it is also a good time to stock up on the basics like card and glue.

Three Ways with Stack and Slash

For this stack and slash technique you take 3 different patterned pieces of DSP in a card front size. Mine was 9.5cm by 13.5 cm. You then mix and match the pieces so there are three different patterns on each card.

This card is simply made with one fussy cut flower from Serene Love DSP. This paper can be found in the online store.

There are a lot of part flowers along the edges of the DSP and they make lovely decorations for the inside of cards.

This card ended up with 2 flowers from the Serene Love DSP, and a sentiment from Memorable Blooms.

Stamped images from Memorable Blooms complement the sentiment from the set. Spotlight on Nature dies have a variety of circle dies in different patterns and sizes.

Another decorated card inside.

Mini catalogue is 'live' on 07.01.2025

Sketch #12 with the Great American Stamping Show

To help inspire my crafting I'm following along with the Great American Stampin' Show as they use the sketches from the catalogue as inspiration. This week it is sketch #12 and as usual, you do not have to follow strictly to the same formula. Use the sketch to inspire, and don't forget to send the cards you create.

These cards were used for my October class, totally inspired by this sketch and some of the beautiful DSP Stampin' Up! has available for us to order.

I had circle punches in 1¾" and 1½" so I substituted that size, and a 2½" die from Spotlight on Nature.

To give options, I made another version using Rustic Crate.

This one had a Pretty Peacock base and Crumb Cake panel.

The other paper I chose was Perennial Lavender DSP and a lovely stamp set Rustic Crate. Putting the first crate together was challenging but after that they are so easy!

The front of the crate even gets the woodgrain embossed as it is being cut out.

These sketches are so handy, have you used any of them to spark your creativity?
