Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 25 - Garden Green

 

Contributors to this blog hop are all members of Claire Daly's Art With Heart group. We love chatting, crafting and getting together in person.

Garden Green is the colour for week 25, and I selected a paper from Garden Walk 6" X 6" DSP. There is a great selection of colours and patterns in the pack, and I have made it my mission to make as many cards as I can from a quarter pack for my last class for 2023, in November.

This was one of two papers in the pack which had a "Christmas feel". I will share the other later in the week. The sentiment from Modern Garden has been stamped in red onto a Heartfelt Hexagon label.  I used Joy of Noel to stamp holly and die cut leaves etc.

CTC #342 CASE Bright & Beautiful

CASE-ing The Catty Crew are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand who take inspiration weekly from the catalogues. The catalogues are a fantastic resource, and we love to inspire you to seek inspiration there too.

My inspiration came from the middle card on the right in the picture above. There is a mix of DSP and a stamped panel on the front of the Catty sample which reminded me of a favourite layout of mine, a cropped front panel card. I'll share the measurements at the end of the post.

Balloons were included on my design also, just in place of the stars in the original, and the spot where the cut-out balloons originally were has been taken by a circle label. I prefer not to use gems on cards where there are young children in the household, as I can just imagine them thinking they are lollies and trying to eat them.

Stampin' Blends are my favourite for colouring, and I don't suggest that I am an expert but like most activities, the more you do the better you get. Using the Color Lifter is something I'd suggest trying. For the little critter I've used light & dark Crumb Cake with Light Petal Pink, and a Color Lifter to blend.

This is a particularly good design to make when your DSP is in the 6" by 6" size, as you can display both sides of the paper if they are a 'happy' pairing. There were even strips left over from this piece of Bright & Beautiful DSP.

CROPPED FRONT PANEL CARD (A4 card)

Paper:

Base - Half a sheet of card , cut 14.5cm by width of card, score at 10.5cm. Slice off 2.5cm from the bottom of the card front.

DSP - trim to 14cm wide before cutting a piece 5cm (X 14cm) for inside card, another piece 2.5cm (X 14cm) for top of card. I was able to use the reverse of the paper for the middle front panel and it measures 5cm by 14cm.

Basic white for the largest Stitched Circle, and to stamp an image from Zany Zoo. I also placed a 5cm by 14cm piece of Basic white inside above the DSP for a message to be written on. Scraps of coloured card for die cut balloons.

More So Saffron

 So Saffron features on the background of this card and again it's matched with a blue, but this one is the intensely deep shade called Starry Sky.

Conversation Bubbles is a fun, cartoon-like set, perfect for someone who also has a sense of fun.

Master M is learning about letters and numbers, so I needed to add a 5 on a Stitched Shape circle die cut.

Colour Creations - Week #44 - Sahara Sand

   

The participants in AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop are all Stampin' Up! demonstrators and members of Art With Heart. We love to Blog Hop sharing all the Stampin' Up! Colours alphabetically. This is week #44 and Sahara Sand is our colour.

Last month my Craft & Chat classes featured a fun-fold with the Share a Milkshake bundle from the mini catalogue. I shared that card in our Week 42 Real Red blog hop.

One of the class participants mentioned she should have made the card more masculine for her ice-cream loving son-in-law which prompted me to try out a variation. 

Sahara Sand features in the He's the Man specialty designer series paper in the annual catalogue. (P132)

The sentiments have come from Framed Florets on a Stitched Circle shape and on the inside a birthday greeting from Charming Sentiments. I use this one so often it seems to be permanently mounted on a block!

Sneak Peek - Fancy Flora Suite

It won't be long until Christmas is over, and our summer holidays begin. Will summer ever arrive in south-east Australia? A few days ago, there were fresh falls of snow!!!

With new catalogue products in the craft room, I made a little time between Christmas preparations to play with the Fancy Flora Suite.

I've used the DSP, the sentiment stamp 'Something Fancy' and the two-step stamping floral stamp, which surprisingly (wink) is called 'Two-Tone Flora.'

Something Fancy is a red rubber cling stamp, while Two-Tone Flora is photopolymer, perfect for this two-step stamping and getting it lined up.

I stamped out some flowers on my Facebook Live this week. See how easy it was.

Goody, Goody - New SALE-A-Bration products!

 

When I was sharing this designer series paper - Day At The Farm - on Facebook Live, I wasn't sure how I would use this piece. Later, I looked through my stamps and noticed that Eclectic Garden had either radishes or beetroot included.

The image was stamped onto two stitched circles and one was coloured by using the infill stamps, which is great if you aren't confident or just don't like colouring.

The other was coloured with Stampin' Blends, an alcohol-based marker. I really enjoy colouring, and find it relaxes me, so this might be my favourite.

CTC#312 Favourite Retiring Dies

The CASE-ing The Catty Crew are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand who take inspiration weekly from the catalogues. The catalogues are a fantastic resource and we love to inspire you to seek inspiration there too.

Annual Catalogue time can be bittersweet: - excitement for all the lovely new stamps, colours and embellishments and a sadness for those that have to retire to make way for the new additions. This time there are so many dies retiring that it may take some time adjusting. The fact that all circle punches have gone along with Stitched Shapes dies is leaving a huge void. Unfortunately, as this blog goes live, this great set of dies is no longer available in Australia. Do check out the Last Chance Products Sale though.

I've enjoyed making a few cards with the Kangaroo & Company Bundle over the last few days, always sitting on a Stitched Circle. I CASE-d that idea from page 17 of the January-June catalogue. Often I begin by making a very close replica of the catalogue sample, and find that lots of ideas are generated once I'm handling the stamps and dies. Layering Circle Dies might be a good substitute if you don't already have dies or punches for cutting circles.

It was a surprise to me that the Kangaroo die cuts a very neat slit in Mumma Kanga's pocket, so all these little 'accessories' can be inserted - how cute is that?

Even better that there are dies to cut them out, and you have the choice of making them removable or sticking them in place.

The images are quite easily coloured using your preferred method, and I chose Blends. Reluctantly, I haven't added a great deal in the way of embellishment to the card, as it can be a little risky when it is used for a young child, as this card will be. I did think some Holiday Rhinestones in navy would have added a little more interest.
