Using Up Retiring Supplies

When we hear about stamps, colours or other products which are about to retire, it's natural to feel just a little sad.

What will I do when I can't get that paper anymore? But that's my most-used colour - what will I do without it?

I remember the first time Stampin' Up! did a colour refresh a couple of years after I joined as a demonstrator. I was so anxious I bought up card in my favourite colours, but then found I wasn't really using it once I had the new colours in my hand.

This time I have felt nothing but excitement as we await the changes. My box was delivered today with new inkpads and multi-packs of new card. They have just a few sheets of each colour in the pack, but its a good way to get a 'feel' for particular colours.

At this time I also try to use designer series paper, and stamp with favourite retiring sets. These cards used Jar of Flowers, which I have enjoyed using for a couple of years. The roses and tulips are my favourites, and I love colouring them with Stampin' Blends.

As I've cleared stamp sets soon to retire, I have found stamped and die cut sentiments which I am happy to use on these cards. "You've been on my mind" is from Simply Succulents. Extra time over the long Easter break meant I was able to finish the insides and envelopes as well.

CTC#413 Favourite Retiring Project

CASE-ing The Catty Crew are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand who take inspiration weekly from the catalogues. The catalogues are a fantastic resource, and we love to inspire you to seek inspiration there too. As a group, I think we are all in a fluster this week with the announcement of the stamps, dies and colours we are losing. Here we are sharing some favourites we are sad to see leave.

Sunflowers always cheer me up, mainly because they remind me of sunshine and happy holidays. I've used two of my favourite sunflower stamps, Celebrate Sunflowers and the matching Sunflower dies, and Jar of Flowers.

I like the rectangle dies in Desert Details, which are unfortunately leaving us at the end of the month, but if you like them too, you could order them with the huge 60% discount on 4th April.

Misty Moonlight is a returning colour which is included in Harvest Meadow DSP on clearance, at only $8.00 that was a bargain! The Crumb Cake background is from the same pack. This card will be for my group of ladies at a community meet up. As there is already so much going on in this card, I have not added bling.

I've used the wooden bucket and sentiments from Cheerful Basket for the second card, while those flowers are from Jar of Flowers. There are 3 other arrangements of flowers in that set which fit so nicely into various containers.

I CASE-d my card from the green one in the middle (below) and stamped the Shimmery White panel with a long stamp using the Stamparatus to step-stamp.

The bottom left card used a mix-and-match approach for the sentiment, which I've imitated using Garden Green to make it bold.

We love for you to share your projects using the challenges. We do request that the projects you submit have been created especially for this challenge. You can CASE directly or be inspired by a sketch/layout, colour combo or embellishment. Ask to join our Facebook group, and then add a picture of your CASE letting us know which card or project you've CASE-d. I'm sure you have many retiring favourites in both catalogues that you can CASE.

Monique is sharing her favourite retiring item next on this blog hop.

Jar of Flowers For a Friend

This is similar to another pair of cards I shared a few days ago, but I guess this is the pared back version.

No embellishments, no fussy cutting - just straight-out stamping to card and some colouring with your favourite medium.

The sentiment is from a retired stamp set which I've kept, and I swiped a Stampin' Blend over Friend to emphasise it.

Jar Of Flowers

Lovely news that Jar Of Flowers has made the cut for the latest Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, but the actual acetate jars didn't.

It would have a similar effect if you stamped on acetate window sheet (page 140) and used the punch to cut and place them over the stems and stamped 'water'.

There are 4 different bouquets that you can stamp and add to the jars. They are all nice, but the roses and sunflowers, the two I haven't used in this post are probably my favourites.

The floral images are really not too difficult to fussy-cut and add in the correct position to the jar, or vice versa.

With no sentiments in this stamp set, you can add any of your favourites to suit the occasion.

Flowering Tulips - Sneak Peek At New Stampin' Up! Product

Last week on my Facebook live I shared this card using the Flowering Tulips Bundle. A bundle is when two items, usually a stamp set and dies or stamp set and punch. are bought together using an alternate code which gives you a 10% discount.

Because demonstrators can order ahead of a catalogue release, we get to stamp before there are many samples on Pinterest. It's fun to just play with the various bits and see what happens.

It's so hard to show in a picture, but the flowers were stamped and then painted with Wink Of Stella. This product is magic and gives a lovely, subtle, glimmery sheen, as well as spreading the ink.
You can see this in more detail in my video.

These tulips required a container, and I considered a few options including the jar from Jar Of Flowers. Once I realised the grey paper from the SAB Marbelous papers (free with your $90 order) looked like galvanised iron, I settled for this image from Simply Succulents.

Flowering Fields Suite is on pages 14-17 of the January to June Mini. It comprises two stamp sets, two sets of co-ordinating dies, 12" X 12" designer series paper, windowpane check ribbon and gold butterfly embellishments.  All these gorgeous new products will be available to order on January 4th 2022.

If you'd like to make cards similar to this, I teach classes in my home in South Morang VIC. If you need more information to craft at home, feel free to get in touch. If you live anywhere in Australia, you may order from my online store (and I'll do a happy dance)!
