CTC#279 CASE-ing the Sketch On Page 72

This week at CASE-ing The Catty, the design team were instructed to use the sketch, of the card on page 72 of the catalogue. It's a lovely card, but so much easier to CASE without the distraction of seeing it using THOSE colours, and THAT stamp set.

I began by looking at the sketch and a stamped piece I'd been working on, to see how I could adapt it to fit the criteria.I had no stamping time last week and missed CASE-ing The Catty last Sunday, so I was determined to not miss out this week too.

By turning the sketch 90 degrees, I was able to place my almost-square art piece and a sentiment into the same position. The twine was added around the bottom of the label, instead of round the belly of the card. I pinched 3 little white flowers from the Boho Indigo Product Medley.

I was able to use the other part of the torn panel to decorate the inside of the card, and add the second part of the sentiment and some bokeh dots from Beauty Abounds.

This next card, using a hostess stamp, Summer Days, followed the sketch a little more closely, with a banner of card substituted for the twine and although the colour is similar, the cards are quite different I think.

I hadn't really planned on making three cards, but the stamp set From All Of Us was on my desk since I'd used the birthday sentiment for the Summer Days card, and I felt like some more colouring in. I felt so happy with the bright colours, that the creating continued. The square for the stamped image is like the original card, the card strip replaces the twine again, and the label for the sentiment has changed position.

I've stamped a partial image on the inside, maybe the child who receives this might like to colour this in.

I hope this helps explain how CASE-ing the Catty can really spark your imagination off in any direction. It can be such a help to browse the catalogue if you are short on ideas for that card you need to make, and with practice, this might become second nature for you too.

I've made a Facebook Live to further explain CASE-ing the Catty if you'd care to watch.

Next design team member along this journey is the very talented Judy May.

It would be wonderful if you decided to CASE the sketch and share your card on our Facebook Sunday Challenge. You don't have to be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, you don't have to have a blog, we just ask that you use your Stampin' Up! products, current or retired.
