Welcome Baby

If Awesome Owls appeal to you, then quite possibly you will also like the Rain & Shine SDSP. Maybe also the Playing In The Rain bundle, but it's the paper I pulled in to use on a couple of baby cards.

The card is an easy one with a little stamping, colouring can be using any medium you like - markers, blends, pencils. My preference is usually Blends, in this case Crumb Cake, Pool Party & Pale Papaya.

The welcome sign and die cut ribbon and plaque are from Warm Welcome, and inside I have pulled a retired stamp (Suite Sayings) as it matches these critters rather nicely. In my opinion, there is no shame in hanging on to retired favourites.

Farewell Botanical Blooms! CI#07

No automatic alt text available.

My head is in a whirl, after spending 10 days in wonderful West Australia! I will give you a bit of a rundown toward the end of this post. I was very tired yesterday after having a longer than usual flight home. Landing was delayed due to a bank up of aircraft after storms. Suddenly I realised I was due to have my Colour INKspiration project made and photographed and linked up with the rest of the crew, so while the washing machine also whirls away, I've put together a card using a BIG fave of mine, Botanical Blooms

It was a shock to see that stamp set and the matching Botanical Builder Framelits in the Retiring List, and what's more, they're reduced. I doubt they'll be in stock for very long!  One reason I was able to put my card together quite quickly is that when I have a lot of paper scraps, I roll them throught the big shot with Botanical Builder Framelits and keep them in plastic containers, sorted into colour groups. This challenge features Mint Macaroon, Daffodil Delight, Pink Pirouette and Tip Top Taupe. You might even be able to grab a pack of Tip Top Taupe and Mint Macaroon cardstock before they retire!

Surprisingly, the Banner Framelits leave the catalogue too. The've been price cut to $36 AU for the set. I find them helpful when layering tags. You'll find that Suite Sentiments, which currently features on the last page of the Occasions Catalogue, (hoping your day is perfect) has not been included in the Annual Catalogue. Linked to the stamp name is the clear mount version which is reduced in price, there is also a wood mount version, still at regular price. Suite Sayings in the Annual Catalogue is retiring also. Celebrate You is the sentiment on the tag, and the link is to the reduced clear mount version. All these links are direct to the individual items in my online shop. It would be great if you added the Host Code 3VS77ZH6 and I will send you a gift in the mail.

It was my first trek across our great island continent and I must say, it was well worth it. Initially I was travelling with my husband and we explored around Perth on foot, before hiring a car and heading off for three days in the Margaret River region, staying at Busselton. We saw a large pod of dolphins frolicking near the shore on this evening. Did you know that the jetty there is nearly 2km long and has a train to take you to the end if you choose?

We enjoyed exploring vineyards and breweries, lighthouses and caves. We even met a Quokka or 3 at Rottnest Island. At the end of my husband's holiday leave, he flew back to Melbourne and my Stampin' Up!® buddies from Adelaide came over to join me.

Kathryn, Andrea and Caroline are all Adelaide Stampin' Up!® demonstrators, and you may recognise Kathryn from the design teams on Colour INKspiration and CASE-ing The Catty. We toured the Swan Valley for wine tasting and chocolate. Yummo! We went to Fremantle on the train for some sight-seeing, and ate out lots. Kings Park and Botanical Gardens is well worth a visit with delights to uncover around every corner.

Last Saturday was Stampin' Up!® Onstage in Perth, where 200 demonstrators gathered at the Hilton Hotel for some training and most importantly, the reveal of the next Annual Catalogue. We saw fabulous samples and even had a chance to play with some new products. My suitcase was quite a bit heavier coming home with new stamp sets and swaps inside. We made sure we took a photo of the four Colour INKspiration team members at Perth Onstage. From left it's me, Kathryn Mangelsdorf, Kelly Kent and Nicole Wilson. Our next Onstage is on November 11th and I'm hoping that some of my team members will join me for this one. If you join my team, South'n Stampers before then, you'll be eligible for a fun day of stamping and a bag full of Stampin' Up!® products. There is more information here, or email/call me. I'm Rachel Palmieri, in South Morang, VIC

Pretty Papers - Art With Heart October Blog Hop

Today some of the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! team girls are sharing some wonderful ideas to inspire you with our Designer Series Papers. This month is the start of a new Stampin' Up! year and we have a special promotion on our Designer Series Paper, buy 3 get 1 FREE for the month of October and there is no limit!

The DSP included in this offer is Floral Boutique, Moroccan, Fruit Stand, Blooms and Bliss, Festive Birthday, By The Shore, Presents and Pinecones and Candy Lane. There is still more than a week left for these specials.

You may have come to my blog from the very talented, Judy May. Now you're visiting, me, Rachel Palmieri in Victoria. Blogs are full circles, so you can start hopping here and then at the end of each post is a link to the next. There is also a list of participants at the end in case of any broken links.

Floral Boutique is totally lovely in just two colours - Night of Navy and Whisper White. For the card on the left I used a square framelit and cut a couple of squares from each of the papers, and arranged them on a square of Night Of Navy in a pleasing patchwork pattern. The bow was from the same suite of paper, and punched out with the Bow Builder Punch. The sentiment is from Suite Sayings. The second card features the 'folded back' effect. I have no clue what it is actually called but it sure does show off two sides of pretty paper! Mixed Borders provided a few similar flowers and sentiment on a circle.

I needed a 'thank you' card for a party hostess and decided to CASE my friend Kelly, and the lovely card she sent me earlier this year. Using a different paper, Moroccan is the name of this DSP, in rich shades of Cajun Craze, Dapper Denim, Delightful Dijon, Early Espresso, Emerald Envy and Very Vanilla. The Hello You Thinlets provided the big 'thanks' and I added another little piece from the Paisley Framelits cut from gold foil. It's a simple design which really allows your patterned paper to show off its design.

This card also uses the Moroccan DSP, but a more subdued pattern this time. I used Fa-La-La-La Friends for the daddy bear and baby bear. It was inspired by the photo bombing Llama, but this reminds me of when a dad throws the baby up and catches him again. Again, it is a good showcase for the delightful DSP, which is buy 3, get the 4th free for October.

Now it is time for you to continue around the blog hop, and you're going to Tina Gillespie next. If the links don't work or you get lost along the way, there is a full list at the bottom for you to rejoin the hop.
Thanks for visiting,

Cheers, Rachel

Peekaboo Baby Bear

A big brown box with new stamps from Stampin' Up!® with my Holiday Catalogue pre-order arrived on my door step on Friday morning. Oh yay! Delivered in time for the weekend. I couldn't play with it through the day though because Friday is my day with my small grandson, Oliver.

When I finally had time, after dinner, I barely had any energy but this afternoon I did get a chance to stamp and inked up the Cookie-Cutter Christmas. The sketch for Sunday Stamps was the perfect kick-start for my inspiration today, although I've deviated slightly from the plan.

That stamp and the matching Cookie-Cutter Builder Punch were  #1 on my wish list, just for the cuteness factor I suspect. For this card, no punch required and the sweet little face, and the separate pair of ears are so easy to add with a photopolymer stamp. The other stamps are pretty cute too, a Santa, Reindeer, Eskimo and gingerbread man and all can be punched out. For the reindeer, you turn the punch the other way and what were legs for the other stamps are the antlers. I'm going to try that stamp out next. I'm sure with a change of patterned paper and a red bow, the teddy will be super-cute for Christmas too.

Thanks for dropping in,
enjoy your {crafty} weekend too

Another Sneak Peek, One With Sparkle and Shine

Following on from my last post, where I shared some notecards I had made using Every Occasion, I have made some more, this time with a little more sparkle and shine. These three images were from that same stamp set, and this time they have been heat embossed in gold or silver.

The two on the left have the small square layered onto gold or silver foil, the gold star has been layered onto Flirty Flamingo, one of my favourite from the newest In Colors. I've used some of the new Playful Palette Washi, along with some of the ones already in my collection. It works really well with these smaller images highlighted on squares of card. They've been cut using the Layering Squares Framelits, which replace the current Square framelits( item #130921)They're retiring, but larger squares aren't in the new set, so I am hanging onto mine, and if you don't have them perhaps you should pop them on an order. They're reduced to $27.00 too, down from $45.00. That's pretty good, isn't it? Here is the online shop.

Congrats! is from the Happy Happenings stamp set, but Forever begins today, and 'You Wonderful Thing You' are both from Suite Sayings. The multi-word sentiment has been coloured with Stampin' Write Markers, in Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum and Flirty Flamingo. I think we've been needing more of these soft, feminine colours, so I'm happy. What do you think about them?

I made a second card, this time in the standard size. The champagne glasses and layered square are the same, but there was more background stamping using Timeless Textures. You can see more of Flirty Flamingo here too - love it!

I'm putting in an order for new catalogues next week. If you aren't a customer of mine, but would like to come to my Catalogue Launch on Saturday June 4th, leave me a comment. It is at South Morang, north of Melbourne Victoria, Can you come?

Cheers, Rachel

A Notecard For Every Occasion, Sneak Peek From New Stampin' Up! Catalogue

Last weekend I found some time to try out the stamp set I received for Prize Patrol at Stampin' Up!® Onstage in Sydney. It reminded me of the first stamp set my mother gave me, Way back then I was at a loss as to how to use the small images, but I had a much clearer idea this time around.

This stamp set is Every Occasion, you'll find it on page 110 of the new Annual catalogue, when you get hold of a copy. If you're in Australia and don't have a demonstrator already, I may be able to help you out with one. I've been playing with some of my pre-order products too. There is InColor inkpads, card and washi tape.I've used existing stamp sets for the sentiment, this 'Peek-a-boo to someone new' is from Suite Sayings. There are some new square framelits coming too, and I cut the onesie out with a plain square, the coloured square is with a scalloped edge.

Now, there are 20 images in Everyday Occasion, so it wasn't difficult to make a nice set of notecards. I used a packet of notecards which are slightly smaller than the typical standard card, but do have envelopes included, 20 of each in fact and only $10.50. (#131527) For some of the cards, I used elements from Timeless Textures along with another sentiment from Suite Sayings. The present has been stamped in more masculine colours, and also has a 'cleaner' look, where the cupcake is definitely feminine in this shade of mauve.

Finally, here are a pair of 'thank you' cards, with the sentiment from Happy Happenings and more Timeless Textures background. You can see the last two colours from the latest InColor range here in these cards. Do you like them?
I have to tell you that I really like them too, it is hard to say which is my favourite. I do think these will make a lovely gift for someone, and they were a lot of fun to make.

By the way, if you would like to get your hands on a catalogue and products sooner, maybe you'd like to join the South'n Stampers (my team), and we can stamp together. You can read more here, or email me rpalmieri5@bigpond.com to find out more.

Happy Easter Chick CTC#71

This week at CASE-ing The Catty we are CASE-ing Easter - from any catalogue. I scanned the Occasions catalogue and found inspiration on page 24 with a card using the Easter lamb stamp and a bag with a star-shaped window cut out. The Stampin' Up!® artists who design all the projects for the catalogues do a fabulous job. It's always worthwhile CASE-ing the catalogue samples to get your own creativity happening. You can change up the colours, or stamps and Framelits, or even begin by copying it outright - that's the whole point of CASE-ing.                                                                                                                                                            I was really glad that Suite Sayings had this lovely big Easter stamp included. You'll find this set of 10 varied sentiments on page 41 of the Occasions Catalogue. Honeycomb Happiness is a SALE-A-Bration stamp set, and that is finishing up on March 31st, so not long left now for you to place your $90 order and get a free item, like Honeycomb Happiness.

The card I CASE-d is on page 24 of the Occasions Catalogue. The artists water coloured the grass and sky around the lamb, but I've used another stamp set to help me out.
Sprinkles Of Life decorated the card with fluffy clouds and small flowers. It will definitely be retiring at the end of May, because it is an annual stamp set dedicated to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House. In fact, $3 of each sale of Sprinkles Of Life goes to Ronald McDonald House in Australia, where I live. Whichever country you make your purchase in, that is where the donation to RMCH is made. Isn't that a great idea? You can find it on the inside of the back cover of the Annual catalogue. It comes in handy for building a scene like I have here around the chick.

It's time for me to get a move on and make some more of these little bags to hold some treats for Easter. It's easy to do with a Gift Bag Punch Board. The paper is 15cm by 25.5cm to make a small bag. At the top I've made a flap closure and the smallest oval has been used to cut a window. The chick from Honeycomb Happiness has been lightly watercolored and adhered partially covering the window.

You can stop by and visit by pressing the next button or pop back to see Judy's amazing project

or keep on hopping forward to Kathryn to see her cute Easter treats.

Cheers, Rachel
