The World to Me

I like the way we have a World Map among the Stampin' Up! range of stamps, AND another that says "You Make the World a Better Place" because they go together like a hand and glove. Orange and Navy are a bit like that too, making striking partners. Colour Me also like this combination, paired with a neutral, and I chose Crumb Cake.

Starburst Sayings has the lovely round sentiment, and "May Happiness Be your Destination" comes from Happy Congratulations, a stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue earlier in the year. Perfect for a Graduate or Traveler!
I had stamped the Hardwood stamp with Crumb Cake on Whisper White for another card, and punched out with the Chevron Border Punch and the pieces here were destined for scrap, but waste not want not, as the saying goes.

Have a great week

Lovely Lanterns

Today & Everyday is one of my new stamp sets, and this is the last stamp of the three that I have used. First was the Vespa here. A little secret I will share with you, riding a Vespa in Italy is on my bucket list. Then I made a card with the dolls.

Come to think of it, this is sort of a multi-cultural stamp set, with these Chinese Lanterns, an Italian Vespa and the Russian Babushka dolls.

I wanted a card that was  a bit 'different' for this terrific sketch by Sam Simpson, at CAS(E) This Sketch. I tried out a couple of  arrangements of banners, but didn't really want to hide the lanterns too much. I was hoping that it would look similar to sheer curtains. I settled on this single banner with a scattering of hearts in silver, which echo the narrow line of silver foil which surrounds the Whisper White layer. The stamping has been done in black Momento ink, my absolute favourite black ink now. It stamps clearly and cleans off with the regular Stampin' Mist® Stamp Cleaner. The sentiment comes from Happy Congratulations.

For the colouring I used the lightest shade of three shades of Blendabilities: Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral and Rich Razzleberry. They are so much fun to use, but I can only see well enough in daylight unfortunately. Today & Everyday is probably a good stamp set to choose to practise using Blendabilities, and watercolouring with Stampin' Write Markers (which I used on the Vespa). The images would also look lovely stamped in a single colour, such as Real Red or Night Of Navy.

21 Congratulations STS #17

When you ask young girls what their favourite colours are, they usually answer pink or purple. By 21 they probably have revised their faves, I'll definitely have to survey some young women to find that out! I decided to go with Strawberry Slush and Wild Wisteria with a dash of bling for this Happy Congratulations card.

This stamp set is great! Great for weddings, 21st birthdays, Graduation, even new babies and definitely Chinese New Year. There are 4 stamps: the string of paper lanterns, a single lantern so you can colour them any shade, either directly or on scrap and punched out ever-so-easily with a three quarter inch circle punch. There is the Congratulations sentiment and the 4th stamp says, "may happiness be your destination".

To finish, I used Memorable Moments for the numbers, the 'hearts' out of the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder set (3) topped with a silver Glimmer Paper arrow from the On Film Framelit Dies. There's even a scattering of rhinestones, as befits such a celebration!

Although the sketch has been rotated, and the shape changed up a bit, it was the sketch at Seize the Sketch which was the start-point for my card,

Have a great week, thanks for popping by
