Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 44 - Real Red

Contributors to this blog hop are all members of Claire Daly's Art With Heart group. We love chatting, crafting and getting together in person. This is week 44 of our blog hop and the featured colour is Real Red. I imagine that most of us are in a state of excitement tonight as tomorrow we will begin meeting up in Melbourne for a 3-day Stampin' Up! event. Can you imagine the noise levels?

This card featuring Hot Air Balloon bundle was shared at my March classes, and I chose the supporting colours for Real Red as they are strong and summery. Daffodil Delight and Balmy Blue for one hot air balloon, with Azure Afternoon and Real Red over white for the larger one.

It's a good idea to use adhesive sheets on the card you use for the lacy trim, much easier than specks of glue. We are also in agreement that it was easier to cut the label first and then stamp the sentiment.

The Stitched With Whimsy dies add a lovely, subtle decoration to an otherwise rather plain border.

Let's head over to Rachel Woollard to see her lovely Real Red project.

If at any time you find a broken link or would like to see a full list of participants, please head to the blog of our host of the AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop, Catherine Proctor.

Happy crafting,

Water Colouring - The Next Step

Or - How to Let Go Of your Inhibitions!

I've come to the conclusion that its my own stressing about cards having a 'neat & tidy' finish that holds me back with water colouring. It worries me when the colours start to run, and it's over the lines.

Surprisingly, once they were all finished, I really liked the one on the right with leaves and acorns that was making me so concerned when I made the video. Apologies, as Facebook has decided to be difficult and my last 2 videos are sideways.

I enjoyed swiping the brush to watercolour the background, and when that dried, I used the Stitched With Whimsy dies to put the stitched edging around.

Have you tried water colouring lately?

Colour Creations Week 2 Parakeet Party

The participants in Colour Creations are all Stampin' Up! demonstrators and members of Art With Heart. We love to Blog Hop sharing all the Stampin' Up! Colours. This is week two of this round of Colour Creations Blog Hop, and the In Color featured this week is Parakeet Party.

Parakeet = bird = Sweet Songbird. That's the way my mind went for this challenge. Fairly simple card, a little stamping, some punching, Stitched with Whimsy dies on one layer, vellum for another. Busy, busy this week, so very short & sweet - Sweet Songbird sweet.

I'm sure Catherine Proctor will WOW you with her creation.

If at any time you find a broken link, please head to the blog of this week’s host of the AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop, Cathy Proctor, and she will have the list of all participants.

Colour Creations - Garden Green

Our feature colour this week is Garden Green, in the regals family. The great thing about green, any green, is that it goes with so many colours, including the other shades of green. I'm sure there will be lots of inspiration shared on this blog hop, so make sure you spend the time checking them out. We are all Stampin' Up! demonstrators and members of Art With Heart.

First step was stamping Festive Foliage in Garden Green. It's a background stamp but not as large as some of the others. This gave me a chance to use the Stitched With Whimsy Dies. They leave a wavy stitched impression, but do not cut.

Heartfelt Wishes is a 'sentiment only' stamp set, which provided this lovely Merry Christmas. I really like the font used in this set.

Merriest Moments has some lovely images and big, bold sentiments if you decide to only get the stamp set.

HANDY TIP: As we begin our Christmas crafting, I often stamp and die cut multiples to use as embellishments on cards. That way there is always something available to 'dress up' a card.

Next talented creator on the blog hop is the wonderful Christine Blain
