Love, Thanks & Support CTC#189

Welcome back to another week of CASE-ing The Catty. The crew is made up of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all parts of Australia and New Zealand.You are at the blog of Rachel Palmieri, Independent Stampin' Up!® demonstrator. I run classes at my home studio in South Morang, Victoria, share Stampin' Up!® products and tools at parties for my customers, coach my lovely team and create cards and the occasional 3D project.

This week I turned to page 119 for inspiration, and Petal Palette, but although this is a favourite stamp set of mine, I gave it a twist and used Lemon Zest. I may yet CASE it with some alternate colours though, as both samples are lovely.

Vellum was embossed with the same TIEF, it has such a soft, lovely look. A pair of lemons and a couple of stamped leaves cut with the Lemon Builder Punch have been substituted for flowers. A few sprigs from the Animal Outing dies have also been added.

Lemon Zest has several funny, lemony sentiments, including a couple for "If life gives you lemons..."

Surprisingly, neither of them is "make lemonade".

AWH CASE-ing The Annual Catty

Tonight the Art With Heart team are sharing creative projects CASE-ing the new annual catalogue. Stampin' Up!® catalogues are full of great art work provided by professional designers but it is perfectly okay to CASE (copy and selectively edit) these creations and make them your own. If you would like a copy of the new 2018 - 2019 annual catalogue, contact any of the girls on the blog hop and we will get in touch with you.

You'll find the card (pictured below) on page 16 of the Annual Catalogue, and I've already seen it CASE-d a few times. I decided to take a long look at it, and then without referring back to the picture, try to make my version from memory. I did make a decision to use the leaves from Rooted In Nature, because I love them so much!

Highland Heather was selected for the base. Leaves from Rooted in Nature were stamped and die cut, and with a flower bud from Oh So Eclectic, were added to the card. A stamp from Sunshine Sayings was perfect for adding silver heat embossed smears, and champagne foil diecut with another die from Oh So Eclectic. The Basic Gray cat seemed to suit this changed colour scheme pretty well, so it has been slotted in there and a thank you from Petal Palette topped it all off.

This type of card does not really come naturally to me, so I'm grateful for the inspiration provided by the artists who create for the catalogue.

Now to share how CASE-ing can then produce an entirely different card, I made another which is more my 'usual' style - clean & layered. This inspiration struck on a sleepless night, and I got up and made it at 2 a.m. - fortunately at the weekend!!!!

Stitched All Around is on the very next page of the catalogue, Page 17 and amongst the dies is a plate that produces the delightful cross-stitch-like background, which allows a hint of colour through. The leaves were stamped, with one die cut and lifted with dimensionals. I totally meant to include the spotted ribbon, because I just love it so, but being 2 a.m. I wasn't going to get it completely right!!!

There's a larger bloom from Oh So Eclectic, the 'thank you' from Petal Palette and both those pieces were cut using Petals & More Thinlit dies.

 Now it's time to see the project that the very talented Andrea Roberts has CASEd.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop -Berry

We seem to have been featuring the brights lately, with Bermuda Bay last week and Berry Burst this week. I do love the brights though, so no complaints here. Members of the Art With Heart team are hopping, and if you pop back to Catherine Proctor for a full list of participants.

It seemed appropriate to give Petal Palette a little more inky love this week. It felt like it was being ignored since the new Annual catalogue was released full of new, bright and shiny goodies. The debossed side of the textured impressions embossing folder was my pick this time, just for a little variety. Each side is equally lovely.

I haven't ever seen a rose as blue as this one coloured with Stampin' Blends, my Blue Moon rose is more the shade of the pink/rich razzleberry one there.

Mix Old With New

This class in June is all about mixing old and new products. If you want the Petal Passion DSP - so fabulous in black and white, but even more fabulous in colour - you need to put it on an order right now. 11.50pm on 31st May, it's gone.

I've reserved enough for a class on June 15th at 7pm, so you can try out the Stampin' Blends for colouring. They are so smooth, and have been in demand so much that Stampin' Up! had to turn the order code off for a month to allow the manufacturer to catch up. They are simple to understand too, coming in just light and dark of familiar Stampin' Up! colours, and as you can buy them singly, you can get a handful to start with to practise.

I wanted to use the Stitched All Round stamp and matching dies (the label), and laid it over that gorgeous ornate die from Petals & More Thinlits. Now the good news is that Petal Palette and the Petals & More Thinlits ARE carrying over into the new catalogue, but won't be bundled for a 10% discount after tomorrow. Only the paper is retiring.

In Colors For Onstage Sydney, April 2018

When I applied to be a Display Demonstrator at Stampin' Up!® Onstage in Sydney, I have to admit that I thought I would be getting some InColor products. I did - so I shouldn't have been disappointed, but it was a funny mix of product! There were 3 colours only, Pineapple Punch, Lovely Lipstick and Grapefruit Grove. I had an inkling of the other colours since I had a bag of clips with all five colours.

I felt quite unsure about what to make to showcase what I had. There were three rolls of ribbons, and 3 jars of powder, unlabelled but I suspected they were heat embossing powder. I rang head office to check before trying them. They embossed beautifully, with rich even colour. There are different flowers in Love What You Do, so I made small samplers to showcase them.

 Sticking with thick Whisper White card, the Petal Palette embossing folders gave another lovely texture to these cards.

These InColors are very bright and happy, the Blueberry Bushel and Call Me Clover are quite lovely too, especially now I have the ink and card for the whole five colours.

A gorgeous inspiration picture, and I went with 'wedding' for this challenge. It seemed to me that some die cut leaves, and a new textured impressions embossing folder, from the Share What You Love Suite, featured in the upcoming catalogue, was the way to go. The sentiment is from Petal Palette, in the Occasions Catalogue but fortunately carrying over to the next Annual Catalogue. The little flowers, which I swished with water after stamping, are from Love What You Do stamp set. Monique Fielder has coloured the embossing folder and you can really see how lovely the flower and leaves are.

Pretty In Pink CI32

I made 2 versions of cards with these colours, because I could see an image in my head but it wasn't transferring to paper in the same way. I imagined Version 2 would be my favourite as I generally like a clean & layered look, but I do rather like version 1 after all.

VERSION 1

Version 1: Heat embossed gold jar and stamped some navy foliage. Decided it wasn't showing well enough, so die cut with a variety of dies, flowers and foliage in Navy or white. Layered up the sentiment on Navy and gold and added a gold sparkly bow. Sentiment is from All Things Thanks.

VERSION 2

Version 2: Heat embossed gold jar at the same time as the first version. Stamped a single sprig of flowers and foliage. Used the Chalk marker to fill in some petals, and popped gold dots in amongst the stems. Sentiment is from Eastern Beauty and the flower stem is from Flourishing Phrases.
