Alexander turns One

A few days ago I shared a card I made for a little girl turning one. This is another, for a wee man, Alexander. His party invitation had a koala and gum trees on it, and as I thought about it, it seemed to me like Animal Outing might be the answer.

As I rummaged in my supplies, I discovered that I had some of the DSP left, which came out at the time this set was introduced. Of course, it never lasts for more than 12 months if it is in an Annual Catalogue, and an even shorter length of time in the Holiday or Occasions catalogues.

The absolute joy of this paper is that some of the animal images can be die cut from a sheet of paper, with Animal Friends dies, and you don't have to colour them. With the short time-frame I had, that was a blessing. Of course, you can achieve a similar result by using watercolor pencils or Stampin' Blends to colour. I actually made two versions, so my daughter-in-law could pick her preference, which ended up being the Z-card. I put the standard card into the basket I sell at work, markets etc.

I decided that I'd best add a panel on the rear of the card to write on, as I'd used the gorgeous DSP (patterned paper) to cover all the inside panels!

Random Act Of Kindness Cards

Creators of cards always have an urge to get their cards out to those who might appreciate them. Sometimes they join Random Act Of Kindness groups (RAK) to share the love around. Recently I travelled to the United States of America and went armed with some cards to give out to helpful people. My travel-buddy Kathryn did the same, so between us, we spread a lot of paper hugs around.

I used some retired, but very pretty designer series paper for my cards, and the sentiments were also from a retired stamp set, Paisleys and Posies. It was just so suitable for the card I was handing out.

Embellishments were taken from my containers of die cuts, because I always cut more than I need, to have flowers etc to decorate a quick card.

The sentiment inside is also from Paisley and Posies, but the kangaroo is from Animal Outing. Most people were so thrilled to receive a card, the exception was border patrol, who aren't allowed to accept anything, not even chocolate as another of our travelling group found out. She did ask me to open the card and show it to her, but she still wasn't able to keep it.

Orlando Kanga Swaps

As I understand, there will be 42 South Pacific Demonstrators at Orlando, and I imagine that a few have decided to use  Animal Outing set as a swap. Then again, everyone might think that it is too obvious...?

I die cut as many of the kangaroo as I could from one sheet of paper and made 7 card fronts for a general swap with other international demonstrators. The other papers you can see here, 4 in total, are all from the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper. I think you'd have to agree that it is rather nice paper for any occasion.

Welcome Little One

More than six months ago we had a new baby boy join the ever-growing Palmieri clan and this is the card I made him. There is a mix-up of stamp sets used here, Animal Outing for the giraffe, rhino and leafy branches while the lion & elephant  are from A Little Wild. The sentiment is from a retired stamp set.

Inside is the feisty little rhinocerous, which is big brother's favourite image to stamp when he does craft with Grandma. The little frog on the branch is adorable too.

The sentiment on the front of this card is retired now, it was from a set called Layering Love.

All Australian Windows

Yesterday I was playing with Pretty Kitty and the Swirly Frames and today I couldn't resist trying for totally Australian windows. Unfortunately, I needed to used retired Bird Banter which I had so-hoped would carry-over, not least because I have bird watchers in my family, but because the budgie and cockatoo are native Australian birds.

Naturally Animal Outing, with its kangaroo. was inked up too, and the sentiment from A Big Thank You, is surrounded by flora, also from Bird Banter.

Do you think I should appeal to the powers that be at Stampin' Up!® to return Bird Banter to the catalogue?

Welcome back to another week of CASE-ing The Catty. The crew is made up of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all parts of Australia and New Zealand.You are at the blog of Rachel Palmieri, Independent Stampin' Up!® demonstrator. I run classes at my home studio in South Morang, Victoria, share Stampin' Up!® products and tools at parties for my customers, coach my lovely team and create cards and the occasional 3D project.

This week I turned to page 119 for inspiration, and Petal Palette, but although this is a favourite stamp set of mine, I gave it a twist and used Lemon Zest. I may yet CASE it with some alternate colours though, as both samples are lovely.

Vellum was embossed with the same TIEF, it has such a soft, lovely look. A pair of lemons and a couple of stamped leaves cut with the Lemon Builder Punch have been substituted for flowers. A few sprigs from the Animal Outing dies have also been added.

Lemon Zest has several funny, lemony sentiments, including a couple for "If life gives you lemons..."

Surprisingly, neither of them is "make lemonade".

Kanga's Baby CTC#184

Welcome back to another week of CASE-ing The Catty. Over on page 48 you'll see this photograph, and although I don't have the stamp set, I've chosen the card at top right which is actually a platypus wearing clothes!!! 

That's only as unlikely as a kangaroo with a koala in it's pocket, but it is a wee bit cute. The square frame and a strip of DSP (patterned paper) were ideas from the catalogue sample which I've incorporated into my card.

I really like Animal Outing and with a quick colour change, using the basics of this sketch, I was well on the way to designing a cute card for a baby girl.
