World Card Making Day

It was World Card Making Day on Saturday, and I did try to join in but I was away for the weekend and my Stampin' Write Markers weren't delivered until today, so I was short a few colours.

Stampin' Write Markers - 11 Core Colors $68.75

I finished them off today, once my latest box of goodies from Stampin' Up! arrived. This card used Earthen Textures and I had most of it completed but needed to colour the leaves and attach everything. I decided not to stagger the position on the vase pieces.

Earthern Textures $96.25

Circle Sayings was the stamp assigned for this card but after stamping the cake, which wasn't part of the original design, I decided to use the rounded sentiment from Beautiful Balloons with Happy Birthday from Circle Sayings

The other change I made was not using half circles, but keeping them whole, and I also changed to DSP instead of inked lines.

Heartfelt Hexagons was the third card and I had to wait until I had Azure Afternoon & Berry Burst ink to stamp the dotty frame around the half-hexies.

Heartfelt Hexagon Bundle $66.50

Did you participate in WCMD? And would you make the cards as set out in the tutorial, or would you change them up?

Stampin' Up! are offering three-days free shipping if you shop Monday - Wednesday inclusive this week. Only condition is that your order is above $65. Want to add one of these bundles to your shopping basket? Just click on the graphic of the bundle you want, they all qualify for free shipping.

CTC #424 CASE Love, Thanks & Support

CASE-ing The Catty Crew are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand who take inspiration weekly from the catalogues. The catalogues are a fantastic resource, and we love to inspire you to seek inspiration there too.

My inspiration came from page 75 of the Love, Thanks & Support section, the card on the left. What I lifted from the sketch was the background stamping on the card base which in this case were musical notes, borrowed from Sweet Songbirds stamp. See how the bear's head extends beyond the panel just like the heart does?

Because the Zany Zoo DSP, on special this month for $18.48 a pack, had so many members in the band, the panel on my card is much larger and busier than the original I CASEd.

The sentiment is also from Sweet Songbirds, I chopped it up and removed a couple of words to suit my card.

A second card evolved from my crafting session, but it has changed even more from the original.

The background stamping uses the sun rays from Circle Sayings and Deckled Rectangles have cut a couple of layers for this card.

The inside of each card was finished to suit, one with Alphabet A La Mode letters on adhesive sheets and card stock, the other with another dancer cut from the Zany Zoo DSP. Alphabet A La Mode dies are available in the online shop or get in touch to order if you don't like to make an online order.

We love for you to share your projects using the challenges. We do request that the projects you submit have been created especially for this challenge. You can CASE directly or be inspired by a sketch/layout, colour combo or embellishment. Ask to join our Facebook group, and then add a picture of your CASE letting us know which card or project you've CASE-d.

The amazing Rebecca Scurr follows with her CASE.

French Door Fun Fold Card

I suggest that you first make this card in a pattern paper which isn't your most precious, just to see how it works out.

You will need:
12" X 12" designer series paper (DSP) cut to 14cm high. Take 0.5cm from the short end to make this piece 30cm long.
1 piece of card stock 14.5cm by 10.5cm for card back.
Scrap pieces of card for the 2 labels & surrounds.
2 3/8" circle punch, bundled with Circle Sayings.
Stampin' Up! Paper Trimmer
Die cut machine or use ribbon for fastening.
Stitched Shape circle dies (largest & 2nd largest)

Please Note: where it says 10cm on diagram should read 14cm. If you knew how difficult I found it to put the diagram in this blog, I know you will forgive me for not making the correction!
  • Designer Series paper measuring 14cm X 30cm
  • Score at 5cm and 10cm
  • Rotate 180° and score at 5cm and 10cm on the other end.

  • Decide which side will feature on the card before gluing the folded pieces back on themselves. This also helps strengthen the paper. (or surprise yourself, like I did!)
  • 28 minute Video, unfortunately despite my best efforts, sideways ):

  • Glue the plain card stock to the back of card with an even margin all around.
For this next part I will use the colours above as a guide.
  • Cut the largest Stitched circle from lime and also cut twice more with the 2nd largest inside to form two rings.
  • Cut the 2nd circle from white(1) and Pretty Peacock (1)
  • 1 more white circle for the sentiment label, smaller punched circle 2 3/8", or 2¼" if you have.

I used
Masterfully Made DSP, a new release in the annual catalogue and paired it with a backing card in Lost Lagoon. Lemon-Lime Twist is for the large frame, Pretty Peacock for the small circle and basic white. Melon Mambo ink and card were also included.

Enjoy making your French Door Fun-fold cards. Use your new DSP as well as chopping up the old. If you'd like to share your creations, its quite easy to add them to my Facebook page. Use the label #frenchdoorfunfold

Have you seen Lemon Lolly?

Last week we got together at my home in South Morang,VIC for Craft & Chat on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. These sessions happen monthly, most usually on the 3rd Thursday of the month, and the Wednesday immediately before it. This is because I have another booking on the 4th Thursday, which governs my calendar. The groups and I would be happy to welcome new crafters, if you'd like to get in touch. Mob. 0417 500 681.

The card in the middle was the one made in class. It uses the alcohol- ink technique where you scribble with Stampin' Blends on to vellum in patches, then lightly spray with 100% alcohol - Diggers from Bunnings hardware is the brand available in Australia.

After demonstrating the technique for the classes I had some samples to use up, so with a little more colouring, again with Stampin' Blends, my favourite colouring tools, I put together a couple more cards. Changing the orientation of the cards was the major difference.

If you'd like to buy Circle Sayings and the co-ordinating 2 3/8" circle punch it is available in my online shop at 10% discount as a bundle at the moment. Charming Sentiments is also available for order and delivery direct to your home address.

Colour Creations - Week#2 - Copper Clay

Our second week of the new colours and we are sharing projects featuring In Color Copper Clay. I have enjoyed making a fun fold using Beside Me (Dad & kids fishing) for this weeks project.

Copper Clay

Since receiving a whole lot more colours in Stampin' Blends, I've been really enjoying colouring, which is why Beside Me was chosen this week.

Dad has a Copper Clay t-shirt, daughter is in Bubble Bath while the small boy has a t-shirt in Wild Wheat. Dad's jeans are Pebbled Path while the kids are wearing Boho Blue jeans.
Quite the range of In Colors there.

A part of the design of this fancy fold involves decorating the right hand side of the insert, as it is on display, so I made sure there was enough embossed card for that.

Next stop along this blog hop is the lovely Christine Blain.

If at any time you find a broken link or would like to see a full list of participants, please head to the blog of our host of the AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop, Catherine Proctor.
