Favourite Holiday Bundle -CTC#56

It's Sunday evening here in Australia, time for a CASE-ing The Catty Blog Hop. Perhaps you are just starting out here with me, but do make sure you hop around all the blogs to see the creation inspiration we have for you. I spent yesterday at Stampin' Up! Onstage in Melbourne, getting the 'whisper' on what we have coming up in January. Such a fun day chatting with other demonstrators and getting inky with NEW stamps. It's all so lovely, hard not to want everything!!!

Catalogue picture
This week we are sharing our favourite bundle from the Stampin' Up!® Holiday Catalogue.
Just wait till you see the new bundles! I've chosen Snow Place Stamp Set with Snow Friends Framelits Dies as my absolute favourite, even though they're all so great. Since I've had this stamp set, I've been really enjoying playing with different combinations of the stamped pieces and the matching dies. It's a bit like playing paper dolls!!! Wouldn't it be fun if Stampin' Up!® released another stamp with more cute outfits and accessories for these guys?

I hadn't planned to buy this bundle originally, until I realised that two of my young grandchildren lug soft toy penguins every time they come here to sleepover. They've spent some of the school holidays at the beach and they loved going to see the real live 'Little Penguins' coming ashore one evening. I've also spent a few days away with them and took the stamp set with me so the children could stamp out some pictures with snowmen and penguins. Photopolymer is a bit better than my usual wood mount stamps for use by the children, they can't ruin the blocks getting ink all over them!!! The Snow Place stamp set retails at $45.00 for 22 stamps, there are 15 dies in Snow Friends Framelits Dies retailing for $45.00 also but together as a bundle, you save 15%.

This card was originally inspired by the card at top right of the catalogue picture, but this cheeky chappie has been dressed to suit our summer Christmas.

My fellow demonstrator, Petra Tailor has already done the shirt & ice cream idea, now I've put my spin on the theme. I used the die for a penguin as a guide to the shape for the shorts and shirt, and then did a few alterations with paper snips. The clouds are punched with the Cupcake Builder Punch, you could also use the Tree builder Punch. I've enjoyed the mix-&-match aspect of this set: - top hat, Santa hat, ear muffs, ties, scarf, but sadly, no sun hat for when he eats ice cream at the beach!

I've made this pair of fun Christmas cards as part of the selection for my Christmas card class next Friday 21st, with penguin and snowman wearing Santa hats with an added sprig of holly.

This stamp set doesn't have to be restricted to the yuletide season though. Because my small grand-daughter adores penguins, I decided to make her next birthday card with three lady penguins. They've dressed up for the occasion with necklaces and a bow in the hair of the youngest. It seemed a good idea to try out the Sleigh Ride Edgelit Dies, the curved landscape added interest to the scene, even in the very neutral Crumb Cake. I finally ordered the Little Numbers Thinlets, and its a great size for cards. "Look who's turning" is from Hooray It's Your Day, which was in the Occasions Catalogue back in January this year.

Lastly, you get to see a card my son made for his girlfriend's birthday last month, CASE-ing mine above. This time we have a boy and girl pair, the trees from Sleigh Ride Edgelits Dies and a handcut sun from Over The Rainbow. Aaron chose the bold birthday sentiment from Sassy Salutations. I think his card is gorgeous, and such a shame he only makes this one card a year.
Can you see why I'm loving this bundle now? Check below for product codes if this is one you'd love to play with too. I'm looking forward to seeing which bundles the other members of this design team have favoured and what they have shared.

Here's a picture of my friend from Adelaide, Kathryn Mangelsdorf with me at Stampin' Up!®
Onstage in Melbourne yesterday. It was great to catch up, so glad Kathryn was able to come over from Adelaide. You'll find her blog after Stasia's.We have so much fun at these events with lots of chatter and stamping and product give-aways. This time we were checking out the Occasions Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration catalogue, in preparation for their release in January 2016. We can order new goodies already and play with them for 6 weeks before they're released to our customers. There's a lot of beautiful stamps, thinlets, punches and paper coming your way!!!!
I'll tell you more about Onstage later.

Playful Birthday CCMC#77

After an extra-early night, I've woken up at my normal workday time, and jumped out of bed, keen to get some crafting happening. My emails alerted me to a new challenge at Colour Me...! and I was happy to get playful with them.

Build A Birthday was lying on my table, and I've kept it simple with a pair of candles, in Melon Mambo and Perfect Plum with the flame stamped in Tangerine Tango. The paper lanterns in the inspiration picture 'spoke to me' and using sponge daubers and the rubber on the end of  a pencil I've dotted Pink Pirouette as well as the other shades. Sassy Salutations has been a very neglected stamp set lately, but that's been remedied now 'cos I've whipped up a masculine version too, in readiness for a July class. My ladies like a choice of masculine and feminine and I like to accommodate them where possible.

Unfortunately, there has been an accident with my good camera and I'm using the good old point-and-shoot version. It doesn't really come up to scratch. but better than nothing in an emergency. Hope to remedy the sitution soon.

Do take the opportunity to pop over to Colour Me! for some inspiration, you could put your card in the gallery too.

Cheers,
Rachel

P.S. Doing a happy dance, my card was chosen!

Revisiting The Rainbow Birthday

If you visit my blog regularly, you will realise that about a week ago, I played along with CAS(E) This Sketch for a challenge and made this single layer card. I have to confess to you, simple, uncomplicated cards, are the hardest of all for me to make. I just don't feel comfortable with the simplicity of  a single layer, but I admire others who do it so beautifully.

I couldn't leave my card alone: it worried me!   I had a piece of card left from first time around, and so I used the Banner Framelit to cut ANOTHER banner to lie over the top. I stamped it again with the frivolous little birthday greeting in Sassy Salutations, and punched a pink arrow with the What's Up Punch (I'm loving that a lot too). Remember, I coloured the large background stamp, Handcarved, with different shades using sponge daubers?
Then those lovely, sparkling rhinestones, just for a touch more glimmer and gleam.

There was just a little bit more rainbow stamping left, and I've cut feathers out of that. I wonder where they will appear?

I have been having an extremely frustrating time with my internet provider as we transition onto a new fibre-optic service. They haven't supplied the equipment to run the new service but are threatening to cut us off within 24 hours from the existing copper-wire service. We've just had a day without any internet and it was only an hour after it was reinstated that the call came to say it would be cut. I do hope my scheduled post goes up tomorrow night for CASE-ing The Catty, fingers crossed. We are CASE-ing gift boxes and bags from the Stampin' Up! ® Holiday Catty. I'd love it if you checked back.

Fortunately my online store runs independently of my internet provider so you can still shop there 24/7, but if you have a very long 'wish list' and love Stampin' Up!® as much as I do, you might like to consider joining my team at Stampin' Up!®. We welcome 'hobby demonstrators' at Stampin' Up!®. No one ever puts pressure on you to run a class, hold a workshop or party, you just need to meet your quarterly minimum of $440.00 and you stay current. Even if you join up, and can't make that next minimum, there is no penalty. Nothing has to be returned, there are no ill feelings.

During October, anyone who joins up, gets an extra bonus. Each month, for 6 months, you get to choose a pack of DSP for free! You can find a link to join up with my team here, and you will see my email address and mobile phone number on that form if you need to ask any questions. I suggest you have your shopping list from the catalogue prepared with $235 to spend (you pay only $169).

I hope I can say 'Hi' to you sometime,

Rachel

Rainbow Birthday CTS#94

I've made a simple little card today, using some favourite Stampin' Up!® stamps. This is so easy, it really could be a one-layer card. I cut a pennant-shape using a Banner Framelit, and a larger piece of white card. That was my template. I used a sponge and five different ink pads (you can see which colours at the end of the post) to ink up Handcarved, a large single stamp. The rainbow effect is so pretty, I wish I had cut a larger shape to show it off more.
First try I stamped the greeting with black ink, but I didn't like it, so next try I inked Sassy salutations with Melon Mambo Ink and that was much better (I think). CAS(E) This Sketch provided the inspiration with the sketch, this time the colours were my own decision!

I thought you might like to see the template after the two stampings. I'm sure that I can put that piece to good use too.

Have a happy rainbow day!

Rachel

PS: Check out here, how I took this card and "stepped it up".

Tangled Bloom

CAS on Sunday has challenged us to use black, white and one colour this week. I decided to add Daffodil Delight Blendabilities to my zentangled bloom. SUO Challenges are after a Clean & Simple card and Colour Me are after Daffodil and a neutral.

Zentangling is a technique first brought to my attention by my downline, Angela T. who sent me a link. Next day at work, I noticed a big display that the art teacher at school had worked on with the grade 5 and 6 children. I haven't been involved in the art room this year, so often don't notice what they are making. I HAD to give it a go!

It's very relaxing sitting and doodling away, and it's probably something you get better at with practice. I found the trickiest part was thinking up contrasting patterns for Blended Bloom.

I used the Textured Impressions Arrows Embossing Folder to match the geometric feel of this card and Sassy Salutations seemed to suit it very well also.

Cheers

Rachel
