Colouring With Blends

Often when I need to relax, I will do some colouring. The card on the left had been a sample for my June classes, in black & white only. One evening after class, when there was nothing on TV, and not much happening around home, I began to colour the images.

As the card was already fully assembled, I've only been able to colour as far as the top of the curvy border, but that's okay.

Stampin' Up! stock a number of different colouring options. Watercolor pencils is one choice, with 2 different packs of pencils on offer. Pastels are a new addition to the range, which I haven't tried yet and Stampin' Blends, our alcohol markers are my favourite by far. I like the way you can keep on blending until you have a really smooth finish, and practise really does help.

We had used this stamp set for another card in the June Class, but not this one. I just stamped it in Old Olive and began to colour with blends. I had pre-sewn some of the ribbon for the ladies to use on their cards, but not all the packs were used, so I included a piece of ribbon on this card.

Do you enjoy colouring? What is your favourite medium to use?

Celebrating 27 With Curvy Celebrations

Someone must have heard my wish for curvy dies and sentiments because we now can buy Curvy Celebrations! It will be available for customers to order on November 3rd, and Quite Curvy stamp set, with Curvy dies will feature in the mini catalogue next year.

Curvy Christmas and Classic Christmas DSP are only available from November 3rd until Christmas so you need to give it some thought, like do you love the row of curvy trees in the card on the left? Can you picture the trails of stars on a special birthday card?

I used it for a family birthday last week, making a soft, sweet version in Pool Party. The lacy curved die seemed perfect for this card, with a stamped and die cut flower bough and wee bird. Some leafy stems were die cut in silver foil card, and I snipped the flowers in half before colouring with Stampin' Write markers.

Playful Alphabet Dies also have numerals, so 27 was die cut and placed above a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings. Rhinestones always add a little more, so of course they've been scattered all about.

The Vanilla ribbon from Forever Greenery Trim combo is coloured quite easily. You can 'draw' on it with a Stampin' Blend or drag it across an ink pad, but I sat it in a little water with drops of ink refill added in the water.

A little stamping inside gives a nice finish.

Stamping  is such a fun way to get crafty, and so worthwhile for the pleasure it gives someone to receive a hand crafted card. Do get in touch if you need assistance, advice (or just a chat).
