Colour Creations - Week 9 - Blackberry Bliss

The participants in Colour Creations are all Stampin' Up! demonstrators and members of Art With Heart. We love to Blog Hop sharing all the Stampin' Up! Colours. This is week nine of this round of Colour Creations Blog Hop, and this week is Blackberry Bliss.

This was a really fun project to use old and new together. The old was Painted Poppies stamped in Old Olive. Still love those pretty poppies though.

The new is Split Card Texture dies, and it's the lattice-like one here, cut from our NEW masking paper. Oh wow! Having a large sheet of masking paper means I don't get random smudges just off the edge where my post-it note runs out!

We made this card in class this month and the ladies LOVED it!

Lovely Kate Morgan follows me this week, let's go see her Blackberry Bliss creation.

If at any time you find a broken link, please head to the blog of this week’s host of the AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop, Cathy Proctor, and she will have the list of all participants.

Poppies Galore CTC#260

Welcome back to another week of CASE-ing The Catty. I do hope you've had the right amount of socialising, craft and rest to suit you over the holiday season. I still feel like I am playing 'catch-up' but could hardly wait to start playing with new goodies.
You are at the blog of Rachel Palmieri, Independent Stampin' Up!® demonstrator. I run classes at my home studio in South Morang, Victoria, share Stampin' Up!® products and tools at parties for my customers, create Craft By Post classes, coach my lovely team and create cards and the occasional 3D project. This week we are CASE-ing the new Mini catalogue, which started on January 3rd.

My first card this week was going to be posted last week, but like I said - I was chasing my tail all week! I finished it an hour after the blog went live, but at least it made me early for this week. Since I used the same card from page 7 as my inspiration, I'll go ahead and include the three versions this week.

This sample from Stampin' Up! has inspired me so much, ideas are popping up faster than I can get them made. Another good reason to really study the pictures in your catalogue when you need to make a card.
Stampin' Up! Sample

I liked the paper strips and just cut 10cm by 1cm strips to place at intervals over this delightful paper, Peaceful Poppies DSP. There is such a great variety of colours in that pack!

The poppy was stamped and coloured with Stampin' Blends, and slipped behind one of the bars for added interest.

There are different 'bars' on this card, but you may see the connection, with some luck!

One of my first classes this year will be brayering, which provides an interesting background for a card. Painted Poppies seems an ideal subject for this, with the line images. The card was beautiful, all neat and clean, but I had to try the splatter stamps from Painted Poppies stamp as well. They're perfect for a different way to colour the flowers, as well as random splotches.

Just a quick tip. Before I mask with washi tape, to create those fresh white stripes, I stick it to my clothing a couple of times to reduce the tackiness. It is less likely to tear at the paper when you remove it, if you do that.

Lastly, I used the brayer again and free-handed the strips. In this picture they seem very faint. I guess you could say 'subtle'. Since this was a free-spirited card, the stamping was random, all over the card front. I've used Peaceful Moments for the sentiments on all three cards, the lovely mixed fonts always appeal to me.

There is always so much inspiration in these catalogues, I'm sure that is why CASE-ing the Catty is such a fun thing to do! Now it's your turn to show what you can do with a little catalogue inspiration. Add your work at our Facebook challenge here.

The next design team member along this hop is the talented Peta Stephens (and Marvi)
