This week our featured colour is Crumb cake, a wonderful neutral that goes with anything. It will be interesting to see how everyone has used it this week. I decided to make some Christmas cards, it's never too early.
A Real Red base was paired with the Crumb Cake panel and a die cut crate from Rustic Crate. This stamp set does not include a Christmas greeting despite having poinsettias to place in the crate, so I pulled a sentiment from Merriest Trees.
These are both older stamp sets which are still current, all the more reason to give them another inking. The designer series patterned paper is a new one though - Take a Bow DSP.
The design was inspired by a sketch on page 22 of the Stampin' Up! annual catalogue, and I made two versions. One has the crate under the poinsetties, the other is without.
Without the crate allowed more space for the sentiment, so it gives a 'cleaner' look, but they are basically the same.
Do you prefer one over the other?

Happy crafting,
I do love the cleaner look of the second card, but am rather partial to that delightful Crumb Cake crate, Rachel! Beautiful cards.
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards, Rachel! I love the way you have bought the sketch to life with your modern Christmas cards. They are both beautiful but if I had to choose one it would be card 2.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful Christmas cards Rachel, I love the circles
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful cards Rachel. I love them both. The range of festive circles is so fun and your poinsettias (and crate) - beautiful. xxx
ReplyDeleteA really lovely layout, Rachel. That crate is cute, but I think the 2nd card is my favourite. Lovely choice of DSP though.
