I supposed I've mentioned before that I have 5 family birthdays over 28 days - 14th February to 14th March. Crazy, isn't it?
I definitely like to make special cards for all my grandchildren, especially since I know at least some of them put them in their treasure boxes.
The main issue with this is finding something a little bit special for each one. For Mr. 11, I took inspiration from my friend Tina Gillespie who used the Birthday Cheer stamp and Detailed Birthday Edgelit Dies to make an Easel card recently. The colour palette was totally inspired by our Colour INKspiration challenge colours. Some are in large quantities and others are quite minimal, but notice how Mango Melody really 'lifts' the card?
Bike Ride was my first choice for the card, but Geared Up Garage was the second stamp set I used, along with a dinky little spanner from the Classic Garage Metal Elements. There are spanners and keys to choose from and I've used the key on a number of 18th birthday cards, and also, 'congrats on your new car/getting your liscence' types of cards.
I had tried to include the 11 on the front of the card but it was just so crowded. I'm sure the recipient knows exactly how old he is anyway, but Gran loves to use her Large Number Framelits.
Please hop on over to see what Erin has created for you this fortnight. I've had a sneak-peek and I love her card.

I love this Rachel. The colours are fabulous but the layout is spectacular. I think I can see myself using those framelits like this too. Sigh.... another purchase! Lucky grandkids.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great easel card! The birthday edgelits look so amazing! Clearly, I under-rated them when looking in the catalogue. I agree with Elizabeth - lucky grandkids.
ReplyDeleteOh this is fabulous Rachel. I love that fun take on an easel card. Your Grandson will love this. x
