Happy @ HB CTC#27

Each week at CASE-ing The Catty we turn to our Stampin' Up! Catalogues for inspiration. This week we are seeking inspiration from the Occasions Catalogue  Join us blog hopping and hopefully it will inspire you. You can view the online version of the catalogue with a click here. We are CASE-ing from the Memory Keeping section. My memory keeping is a bit spasmodic, I'm still working on the earliest part of my overseas adventure in 2013, and I'm nearly ready to visit Europe again. Even my family photos aren't really up to date. So, I've used the idea of a window with a word over it, as shown on page 48, to create a masculine birthday card. Happy from the Hello You Thinlets was cut from black Chalkboard Paper, because it is so sturdy. @ , #Hello,was stamped in Cherry Cobbler and shows through a round opening cut in the card front. Sadly, this stamp has made it onto the Retirement List, so you can get it at a reduced price while stock lasts. The clear mount is $23.21, while wood mount is $32.21.

 After trying a couple of additional greetings, I settled on HB from Balloon Bash, because the hashtag suits the rest of the card. When it still seemed to need a little more, Gorgeous Grunge filled the need for some splatters in black.





Do you think we'll see Crazy About You and the Hello You Thinlets in the next Annual Catalogue? Not too long till we find out, but I certainly hope so.

Happy Birthday William PP#214 & cQc#260

I've had a busy day, but don't have much to show for it!!!! Next week I am selling off a lot of my retired Stampin' Up!® stamp sets, inks etc. and it takes so long to photograph and list them, it seems to have taken most of the day.

BUT, I have also whipped up another birthday card, this time for No. 4 son, whose birthday is 10 days away. No. 2 son is this Sunday, and I have shared his card previously, here. It turns out Jake's is really appropriate, as he has asked for an apricot tree, so that his children can experience the joy of picking fruit from the tree to eat.

For William's card I've played about with Boutique Borders, Big News and What's Up? 


I was aiming for clean and simple masculine, as requested by Jaydee at The Paper Players. With five sons and the same number of grandsons, I do seem to always be needing masculine cards, but I'm still no expert!  I had intended to show the inside of the card when I first posted this, but my computer is being very temperamental about loading photos, and there was a few days delay before it would let me load more than the first pic.


I am loving these stamp sets and the snazzy, sketchy shapes that seem to go so snuggly together. The colours at ColourQ are quite masculine too, so that was a great solution to my quick card. Sometimes it pays not to over-think things.....

Masculine 50th Birthday Card



Today I am making a 50th birthday card for a man who is environmentally conscious, a real nature lover. Stampin' Up! have a number of stamps that would be suitable but I chose Lovely As A Tree, one of the longest-lasting stamp sets in the catalogue. If it has survived for at least eight years, it is a GREAT stamp!

The colours at The Paper Players are so gorgeous, I used them again too. It's a shame that the Blackberry Bliss card base is looking black in my photo, but when it shows its true colour, the watercolour looks washed-out. I stamped the row of trees with Stazon onto watercolour paper and then, using an Aquapainter and ink squeezed onto the lid of the stamp pad, I 'painted' the  soft sunset. Unfortunately, I loved the scene so much, I couldn't bear to trim it down to confornm to the sketch at HandStamped Sentiments. I think they will be okay with that, usually sketches are just a suggestion to be followed as you choose.
I pulled out Memorable Moments for the numbers, it has been a little while since I used them. Happy Birthday comes from Something To Say.
Because this card is for a customer, I will make a couple more for her to have a choice for her brother's birthday card, so you might even see them pop up here over the weekend!
