Six Quick Cards

Earlier this year Shannon West shared 'Double Wonder cards' with demos in the United States. Basically, this is a cutting plan to make 11 cards from 2 half sheets of 12" square paper (6" X 12"). For years we've circulated cutting plans for 'One Sheet Wonder' cards, and this cutting plan, inspired by Shannon's Double Wonder Card,  uses 2 pieces of 6" X 6" DSP to make six quick, easy, fun cards.

In addition to 6 card bases which suit your DSP, you will need 4 pieces measuring 8.1cm X 11.5cm. They can be white or a colour. You will also need 6 labels with sentiments, perhaps some ribbon twine and embellishments.

Take your two sheets of DSP and with one on top of the other, cut 3 strips 3.5cm wide and the length of the paper. They need to be cut in half at the midway point, 7.6cm. Six inches is just over 15cm. Each card uses three pieces, and I suggest spacing the two outer ones first, so that you can centre the 3rd one. These are attached to the 8.1cm x11.5cm card. There are many ways to arrange these.

You are left with 2 pieces 5cm wide. These are perfect for a card as is, but here is an alternative. Cut these strips at 7.6cm also. Now you can mix and match these to your heart's delight. They can be spaced close together, have a contrast strip between, a slim gap between and a strip at the top or bottom, the ideas are endless.

I've made a video to show how easy it is to cut and arrange these pieces, you'll find it here. The diagram below (not to scale) may be enough to jump start your creativity.

Red Poppies CTC#271 Week 2

This week at CASE-ing The Catty we are CASE-ing the Annual Catalogue! YAY! New products, new colours, new inspiration.

Sometimes when it is a 'free for all' like this week when we CASE anything, it is so hard to decide. I settled to CASE the sunflower card on page 13 of the catalogue, but chose to use Painted Poppies instead.

Cherry Cobbler and Real Red seem very bold against the Misty Moonlight DSP, but once it was all assembled, I was thrilled. The spots are gorgeous, and I'm sure the other side, a denim-look paper, would have looked just as good.

The sentiment is from Lovely You, and the Stitched So Sweetly dies were perfect, with the largest rectangle cutting the white panel, and the smallest cutting the little label. I had some retired wooden embellishments to use up, and I think they're a lovely addition.

Next you're heading over to view the amazing creativity of my stamping sister, Tina, in Adelaide.

We share our projects to inspire you to create and send cards. It would be wonderful if you CASE-d the Catalogue and shared your card or other project on our Facebook page.

I'd love you to choose my online shop to purchase from, use the Host Code when asked at check out, & I will send you a gift, along with a handmade card. It's extra hard at the moment to run an online business so any help you give by ordering is greatly appreciated. The items listed below were used in my project above, and link to that item in my online shop.
