Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 28 - Granny Apple Green

Other team members from Art with Heart are hopping sharing Granny Apple Green tonight, but I will be away from my computer for a while so I will share my card, but not link in with the hop, in case it doesn't automatically publish.

Layers of Beauty is one of my favourite stamp sets. I especially like colouring using masks, ink and blending brushes, but this time I used the alcohol marker Stampin' Blends.

The very simple typed birthday sentiment from Country Birdhouse gets used a lot in my craft room, and this time it has been heat embossed with white embossing powder onto a strip of black card.

Maybe I have the most extensive collection of glimmer paper at the moment!!! Granny Apple Green is part of a three-colour pack. You can find it on page 53 of the Holiday mini - Festive Glimmer Paper #164106. The other colours are Garden Green & Cherry Cobbler.

A partial floral image stamped on the inside and some splattering to soften it and we're done.

Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 21 - Crushed Curry

Contributors to this blog hop are all members of Claire Daly's Art With Heart group. Every Wednesday night at 8p.m AEST we feature a fabulous Stampin' Up! colour, in alphabetical order. It's taking a long time to progress through the alphabet, week 21 and we still are only at 'c'.

Crushed Curry is our star this week and I have used it to stamp the outline image for Layers of Beauty, the sentiment from Kindest Expressions and a narrow border in card.

We made this card at my September Craft & Chat classes, and everyone loved the way the Crushed Curry outline made it look so different from stamping in black.

They also enjoyed working with the masks, and were amazed at how easy it was to create a gorgeous card with only two colours of ink  layered up with the masks.

Truly, all we used was Lemon Lolly and Soft Sea Foam, and of course, every card was just a little different - because that's what handmade is all about!

Our next talented Art With Heart team member is the lovely Andrea Sargent.

If at any time you find a broken link or would like to see a full list of participants, please head to the blog of our host of the AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop, Catherine Proctor.

Happy crafting,

Layers of Beauty

Another Layers of Beauty sample coloured with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers, very lightly.

The long-retired DSP in the background seemed to match the lovely roses and I'm all about using up supplies, especially patterned paper.

Sketch #7 With the Great American Stamping Show

To help inspire my crafting I'm following along with the Great American Stampin' Show as they use the sketches from the catalogue as inspiration. This week it is sketch #7 and as usual, you do not have to follow strictly to the same formula. Use the sketch to inspire, and don't forget to send the cards you create.

This is really a simple sketch, and I had so much fun pulling this idea together. Many pieces of water colouring have been completed in these last few weeks as I explore Layers of Beauty. It is a beautiful bundle, quite versatile although I have used some other sentiment stamps to complete some of the cards.

The centre panel is Fluid 100 water colour paper with the image stamped in Versamark, sprinkled with white embossing powder before heat setting. I pop a drop or two of ink onto an acrylic block and use a water painter to loosely paint the flowers and leaves.

A little stamping to finish off the inside nicely.

You can check out more ways with sketch #7 here at the Great American Stamping Show Gals.

CTC #485 CASE a Water Colour technique

CASE-ing The Catty Crew are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand who take inspiration weekly from the catalogues. The catalogues are a fantastic resource, and we love to inspire you to seek inspiration there too.

The assignment is CASE a watercolor technique and several are shared on pages118-119 in the Stampin' Up! annual catalogue. Firstly, a disclaimer, I am by no means an expert here, but I do watch others and thought I could give it a try. So I have CASE-d water colouring like for the pears in sample one, but mine is sloppier!

There are two choices when you watercolour. You can stamp in Stazon ink which is waterproof, or you can heat emboss. The second method wasn't actually mentioned in that section, but I went ahead, stamped Layers of Beauty in Versamark onto Fluid 100 5" X 7" watercolor paper and applied white embossing powder.

This created another problem for me as white on almost white is difficult to see! I was attempting to selectively wet portions of the image e.g. the flowers or the leaves to prevent colour from running between them. It was challenging but I am happy with the result.

I like to create a palette on a large acrylic block and drop ink there to dilute with more water. I have used a mix of Pretty in Pink and Petunia Pop for the roses and Granny Apple Green in different strengths for leaves. A very diluted Granny Apple Green was applied to the background.

Now it's your turn. We do request that the projects you submit have been created especially for this challenge. You can CASE directly or be inspired by a sketch/layout, colour combo or embellishment. Ask to join our Facebook group, and then add a picture of your CASE.

Next along the hop is the amazing Andrea Sargent.

CTC #484 CASE the Annual Catalogue

CASE-ing The Catty Crew are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand who take inspiration weekly from the catalogues. The catalogues are a fantastic resource, and we love to inspire you to seek inspiration there too.

Turning to the back of the Stampin' Up! annual catalogue, there is a section covering techniques. Pages 124-125 covers four masking techniques. Masking is a favourite technique of mine and I have recently taught this in a class. I have CASEd the Block & Roll technique, with a little twist.

I masked with strips of masking paper but coloured with blending brushes. After colouring the first piece of card I stamped the image and even though I used the stamp positioning tool, I didn't get a clear image. The second stamping was a touch 'off' and still not clear, so that ended up the rubbish bin.

These issues made me decide to get the stamping done first and that allowed me to blend colour a little more selectively. I blended Coastal Cabana and Fresh Freesia, although it looks like Petunia Pop, even IRL.

Now it's your turn. We do request that the projects you submit have been created especially for this challenge. You can CASE directly or be inspired by a sketch/layout, colour combo or embellishment. Ask to join our Facebook group, and then add a picture of your CASE.

Next along the hop is the talented Rochelle Laird-Smith.
