Stampin' Pals: Humming Along

With only a few days before Country Livin' retires from the Stampin' Up warehouse, I'm sharing my latest card made with this stamp. I coloured the images with Stampin' Blends and kept the layout fairly simple.

In my mind, this is for a woman, hence the sequins, but it really is a perfect stamp for anyone, who likes country music or even country life. At $26 (Australian) its good value. Polished Stone - Humming Along

In April I was fortunate enough to spend a couple of weeks in New Zealand with two Stampin' Up! friends from Adelaide and one of our special events was hosting one of our Kiwi buddies, Paula Dobson. We'd asked Paula if we could do a class with her, and it worked out that she could and so we spent a fun-filled day riding the Luge at Rotorua, and walking the Redwoods Tree Top walk in the evening. After a delicious shared meal we started our projects.

This card uses the glossy card, which is about to retire again. It's a shame, as these are really fun techniques which only work with glossy card, but I guess the demand isn't there for sufficent quantities. Paula used the hibiscus from Humming Along, and a different technique using a plastic bag to transfer patches of colour to the glossy card. We were then able to use Stazon ink to stamp the flowers and leaves into chosen spots.

I have used the Polished Stone technique before, and it is similar, but not the same. Again, rubbing alcohol (Isocol) and glossy card are the main requirements. I stamped and coloured the humming bird with Stampin' Blends and die cut it before attaching it with Dimensionals.

White heat embossing really makes the sentiment stand out on the black label. The dies that match the Humming Along stamp set also have this lovely label included.
