A restricted palette like this can be challenging - more challenging than usual!!!
I decided to use Hanging Garden, a favourite featured in the Annual Catalogue which is perfect for sending to friends needing a 'pick-me-up', or a little TLC.
I love a hanging basket, but you need to remember to pot them up before Christmas, to keep the water up to them and they may need a little Seasol to keep them going. Enough about gardening and onto cards.
I checked through my DSP to see which pack had some Soft Sea Foam patterned paper and Tranquil Textures had this one. A lovely subtle Seafoam texture. A thin border of Granny Apple Green was skewed to reveal just a little more, with another layer of Early Espresso behind.
As well as using up DSP before it retires I have another personal challenge to use my ribbon and embellishments. For too many years I have been collecting, not using. Once I've added embellishments, I love the effect, but in reality my style is clean & layered for cards and scrapbooking. Have you worked out your style yet?
So I guess it's okay to call this clean and layered with a couple of added extras!!!
Stampin' Up! have set us another challenge - #simplestamping. That is perfect for when you are just starting out on your stamping adventure, so I made the same card, same colours, but simplified. Of course, it also requires less product to complete, and you may already have some things you could substitute. If you already have card for the base, there is no need to stick with this colour scheme.
At the end of the post are two product lists, the first is all the items used for the stepped-up card, the second list is the pared-back version.
I cut an A4 sheet of card around halfway, at 14.5cm, folded and scored at 10.6cm. The Whisper White to stamp on measures 12cm by 8cm, and the Granny Apple Green is a half centimetre bigger, 12.5cm by 8.5cm. If you wanted to reduce your start-up costs again, you could use the Soft Seafoam or any other piece of card that suits, or not even layer it.
Because I cut my card to 14.5cm instead of 14.8cm I end up with thin strips of card left over. I save these, and try to use them before they get too mangled. For the inside of my card, I use a piece of Whisper White cut to 10cm by 14cm. I sat 2 strips on top of each other, and glued a strip of DSP over the top to hide the join. It would also have been a nice touch to tie some linen thread around, so many options.
