Our feature colour this week is Crumb Cake, in the neutrals and a very useful shade. I'm sure there will be lots of inspiration shared on this blog hop, so make sure you spend the time checking them out. We are all Stampin' Up! demonstrators and members of Art With Heart.
For quite some time I had been intending to try this technique where die cuts are adhered to a same-colour piece of card to make a textured background. Dandy Wishes dies have these spiky flower heads in three sizes, so that provides additional interest.
The sentiment from Biggest Wish was stamped in Bumblebee and Mossy Meadow, just a touch of colour on the card this week. The simple dandelion from Garden Wishes has been coloured with Stampin' Blends.
Next on the blog hop is the talented and sweet Tina in South Australia. I love her work so let's go check it out...

I love the effect of the die cut pieces in the background and the woodgrain DSP is perfect with Crumb Cake
ReplyDeleteRachel your faux embossed background is so lovely. I really like the way you've just embossed the top half of the card - it looks so good! And thank you for pointing out that you can tuck things into the Scalloped Contours dies slits - I never thought of doing that!
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful components to this card, Rachel! I love the Crumb Cake flower background, and the texture and visual interest it provides. Clever use of the Scalloped Contour die, making it look like a window box! I love that you stamped the sentiment on DSP, and kept your whole colour palette "earthy". Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love all the different textures you have used on your gorgeous card. The die cuts in the background are wonderful and how cool is the scallop die with the slits?!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThe crumb cake die cuts look fabulous on the background. It's a fabulous technique that does bring heaps of interest.
ReplyDeleteYour card is really cute Rachel I think it’s those dandelions! I love the pale wood DSP on your card too and of course the die cut spiky flower heads in Crumb Cake.
ReplyDeleteYour card looks great Rachel. Love the tone-on-tone die cuts and the use of the wood grain DSP.
