In The Lead-up To South Pacific Stampin' Up!® Convention 2015

Convention is something I look forward to every year. Although I didn't attend the first year I joined up, I have attended each year from there on, and this is my 4th convention. We were so excited when we heard it was going to be at the Gold Coast, our accommodation was booked as soon as we finished the Melbourne Convention. Melbourne had spoiled us with glorious, sunny May days - just imagine what the Gold Coast would do!

I went up to the Gold Coast before Convention started, on Tuesday 28th April. That night, a couple of South Australian demonstrators and I went to the Australian Outback Spectacular. Kathryn Mangelsdorf and I met at my first Convention, and we keep in contact on Facebook, in between. We share a love of Stampin' Up!®  and travel. Kathryn brought her friend and team member, Caroline Nicholls with her and we've enjoyed each other's company for the time we've been away on the Gold Coast. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the Out back Spectacular, found the seating quite novel, as was the serving of the food! The bus returned us to our respective accommodation around 10.30pm, with our hats as a souvenir of our adventure.

The Meriton Serviced Apartments at Broadbeach were reasonably priced, and an easy walk to the
Convention Centre, the beach, restaurants and Pacific Fair shopping Centre. I was offered an apartment on the 25th floor, but chose to be lower down, so I would have the courage to go onto the veranda. When we had a destructive storm arrive later in the week, I was even happier that I was only halfway up the tower! This is the view of the Convention Centre from my veranda, which also had a view of the ocean.

Wednesday was a busy day for the team leaders, but Sue and I had time for a nice brunch before she went off to training and I took a walk along the beach.

In the evening we went off to the Broadbeach Convention Centre where we registered and collected our bag, which contained a new stamp set and the Make & Take packs we would need to complete three cards. Swapping takes place at registration, and then continues on between sessions until everyone has run out of swaps. You probably remember me showing you mine in the last couple of posts, but here is another shot of them spread out on the couch.

I will continue with Day One in the next post......watch this space!!!
