Happy Umpteenth Birthday!

You have no idea how nervous I get when I see a colour challenge using this many colours!
To the point that I don't usually take that challenge on, and I wasn't going to try this ColourQ challenge this week, despite LOVING what the design team have done with it.

Then I broke it down into manageable chunks, like you ought to with any problem you're trying to solve. I took out sheets of the colours from the Designer Series Paper Stacks. That seemed to help a lot, although I discarded the Night of Navy in favour of a plain sheet of card embossed with Fancy Fan Embossing Folder. I only had a sliver of Lucky Limeade to work with too, which is where the sketch at Fab Friday came in. I could make that sliver into one of the flags!

At some point I decided that I wouldn't attempt floral for the feature panel, Let's just keep it tailored and tidy with a tag from Oh My Goodies. I really like that those tags are all cut with the Deco Label Framelits, because I was able to make a plain white one, just the next size up to give it a clean border. There were two stamped, one in Strawberry Slush, the other in Bermuda Bay and then I chose which would be the main, and which would be the highlighted word. It certainly is an interesting colour palette.

I have a feeling my next birthday might just be an "umpteenth" one!!!!

CASE-ing The Catty #4 Weddings

The idea at CTC this week is to browse through pages 60-71 (AUS/NZ) and find a project that you would like to recreate. You can directly CASE (Copy and Share Everything) or use a sketch/layout, colour combo, embellishment as a springboard for your own creations. The main thing is to have fun!

My wedding card  inspiration came from two different pages in the catty. The card on the left with banners has been CASE-d from a kraft box on page 67. I couldn't see why this decorated box lid couldn't just as easily be a card too. The other card has been CASE-d from a thank you card at the top of page 62. I substituted gold foil for the Designer Series Paper Stack shown in the catalogue. The gold foil has been run through the Big Shot using a new embossing folder, Lovely Lace. Lace seems to be in fashion at the moment, doesn't it, and always for weddings. I used the same greeting on the front of both cards, from Big News stamp set. This might be my 'go to' stamp set I think, and you might like it too, if large and flamboyant is your 'thing'!

The inside of both cards is exactly the same too. Again, the sentiment (and heart) comes from Big News, and  it's stamped with gold Metallic Encore Ink.

Whenever I am making a "Special Occasion" card, I use Shimmery White card. Not only is it stiffer than Whisper White, but it has a lovely subtle shine that gives a classy feel to the card.

I used a retired stamp on the banner too. Language of Love was in the Occasions Catalogue earlier this year, and I thought the different sized banners added a little more interest, since I wasn't using patterned paper. There are punches and framelits to make the cutting of these extra easy. A large banner framelit was used to cut the banner on the second card too.

It's well worth looking through the catalogue for inspiration. Each time you browse the pages, something different catches your eye, and then you can change the stamp set, the colours or the occasion to suit.
Won't you join us this week, CASE-ing The Catty for weddings?

Cheers,

Rachel
