Valentine's Day CTC#65

Welcome again to another round of CASE-ing The Catty. Each week the crew take inspiration from a section of a Stampin' Up!® catalogue. Currently we are all so excited by our Occasions catalogue, but this week is Valentine's and we might have CASE-d the Annual catalogue too. CASE is an acronym which stands for "Copy And Share Everything" and we hope by sharing what we have CASE-d, you'll be inspired too.

If you happen to take a look at Page 14, you will see that I have CASE-d a tag there, and placed it on a card. It's hard to see but the patterned paper is Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper Stack and those are rows of sweet little hearts, all in Blushing Bride and white. Balloon Builders is a very cute stamp set, that you might take a look at and say, "What will I use that for?" I decided I'd begin by trying out all the animals etc that were showing on page 14. Some were easier than others, and it is fascinating how a slight change in position alters the look.

I've used this tilted-paper design before with this birthday card but I don't have a magic formula, I just place it and cut off the excess. The 6 inch square sheets in the paper stack might make this process easier I think, and there was a matching piece left over to line the inside too.

I've kept the card quite simple with the flower and sentiment stamped onto a 'no-fuss' circle, mounted on another white circle one size bigger. The sentiment is one of four from Balloon Builders, and a bonus is that two of the stamps can also get punched out beautifully with the Balloon Bouquet Punch, so that's two stamp sets you can use the punch with. I tied a strand of white baker's twine around the top card, and made a bow to finish it.

Strictly speaking this Going Global card isn't really a CASE, but an adaptation of the sample made at November 2015 Onstage in Melbourne, using products from the Going Places suite. After using it at Onstage, the paper stack,
World Traveler Embossing Folder and Going Global stamp set were all on my first order. My husband and I aren't the most sentimental of people. We don't celebrate Valentine's Day, I'd rather flowers for no particular reason and not over-priced arrangements, thank you very much. However, this card is the type I might give him on Valentine's Day (or for no particular reason).
This is a great product suite for masculine cards, and travel-related memory-keeping. I've been loving the other examples for Valentine's Day (or no particular reason) that have been popping up on Pinterest.

Starting this year we are doing a monthly challenge. If you have been inspired by any of the projects in the catalogue or on the blog hop, feel free to share with the linky tool at CASE-ing The Catty. A winner will be chosen and announced on the first post of the following month.

If you are travelling in reverse around this blog-hop, click on the previous button and go back to see what Kathryn is sharing this week. Otherwise, click on next to proceed forward to Rebecca.

Cheers, Rachel

  1. Rachel, I totally agree with you and love the Going Global card and suit for the same reasons. But your first card is a really clever use of that balloon stamp. Great Case.

  2. Your pretty little balloon card is so gorgeous!! One day, I'll be brave enough to try to tilted look!! And your Going Global card is so lovely for a guy - my man would probably appreciate a card more like this than a pink one!!!

  3. I agree, Rachel, cards & flowers for no particular reason are the best of all! Your hubby's possible valentine (or no particular reason) card is great.
The pink balloon flower card is adorable! Your DSP choice is awesome & looks great as a slanted panel, both inside & out. The balloon bloom is cute & looks great in the layered white circles. Fabulous CASEing! :)

  4. What a great case Rachel. I haven't even inked up my balloon stamp but I do love a cute flower so you have just inspired me to get it out & try Caseing you! I love the look of the angled DSP on this card too.

  5. What a sweet card!! I'm with you, I like flowers anytime but it doesn't happen at my house as my kitty cats like to eat them too!!

  6. Rachel, I love what you have created with the balloon builder stamp set, it's not been one of my favourites in my collection from the Occasion Catalogue but I love the sweet flower you have made. Happy Valentine's Day.
