Welcome back to another week of CASE-ing The Catty. The crew is made up of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all parts of Australia and New Zealand.You are at the blog of Rachel Palmieri, Independent Stampin' Up!® demonstrator. I run classes at my home studio in South Morang, Victoria, share Stampin' Up!® products and tools at parties for my customers, coach my lovely team and create cards and the occasional 3D project.

My eye was drawn immediately to the Petal Pink card, top centre of the catalogue picture. I'm totally into #loveitchopit now, and always cut at least half a pack of paper into ready-to-use pieces when I receive my order. This comes after years of hoarding!!!

When I cut card front-size pieces, there are strips left over which are crying out to be used. I haven't had to do much more than sort through the pieces of 'Share What You Love ' DSP to find a couple of suitable strips. This time I chose the very lightest of all the greens, Soft Seafoam to pair with these pretty patterned papers.

Abstract Impressions provided the sentiment and the embossing folder Lovely Floral has left a lovely impression beside the sentiment. Another textured embossing folder, which you might well miss in the catalogue is Subtle #143706. You can see the finish it gives card, below on the card.

Such a simple little CASE, and it could have almost qualified for my Thrifty Thursday feature.

Fun Embossing Techniques

Recently 50 of us gathered in Melbourne for some team training, demonstartions and make 'n' takes. It was a hugely successful day, and some demos even flew over from South Australia for the day. My good friend Kathryn actually spent a few days staying here at my home, which was lots of fun too.

Kathryn and I both demonstrated projects to other demonstrators, and I reported on mine here. Kathryn was sharing different embossing techniques, and she left me some of her sample pieces to work with. The flower above was debossed with versamark, using the Lovely Floral TIEF and then gold embossing powder was sprinkled over.

It has a rather lovely antique effect, which I matched with Share What You Love DSP and card in Sea Foam and Mossy Meadow. The small heat embossed sentiment is part of a larger one from Stitched All Round. I masked off the part I didn't want to use before stamping into Versamark. The most important part is remembering to remove the tape before you put the stamp to card!!!!

Pinwheel Envelope Card

When I was planning my display for Onstage Sydney last April, I was looking for something a little bit different. Already my friend Carmela had shown me this card, made by The Paper Pixie. It is so easy but terrific for showing off both sides of designer series paper, so when this GORGEOUS 'Share What You Love' DSP was in my box of goodies to create Onstage samples, It was a definite on my to-do list.

I can't believe that I have almost used a whole packet of this paper, as it is 24 double-sided sheets. When Claire Daly asked me to present at a team training event, I thought it was a good opportunity to share this cute and easy fold. I will endeavour to share the measurements and instructions as clearly as I can, but contact me if you'd like to know more. You need to own an Envelope Punch Board or a Diagonal score board plate. The Envelope Punch Board is a really useful item, and would give the most diversity of use, if you need to purchase for this project.

1. Cut a piece of DSP to measure 8 inches by 8 inches.
2. Take your Envelope Punch Board and place paper at 3 inch mark. Score, diagonally.
3. Rotate 90­­° and repeat for all 4 sides (please note, measuring at 3" each time)
4. This leaves triangles, which need to be removed with paper snips.
5. Next, score one edge of the flap at 1 inch. When the flap is pointing toward you, it is the right-hand side that is scored and folded. I like it to be flush with the right hand corner, which may be a little more than 1 inch.
6. Beginning at the bottom, fold and tuck the pinwheels in, much like closing the top of a box.

These are some Pinwheel cards I made on Saturday using the new Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper. Working smarter, not harder, I will use these envelope cards for my Catalogue Launch. What better way, to hide a mystery prize? I printed the prizes out onto Whisper White and cut with the largest of the Stitched Shape Squares. Next, using a larger square framelit, I cut one of the colours from the DSP and all had a 9cm by 9 cm square of Night of Navy. I enjoyed using the Balmy Blue ink for the vase, and memento black for the flowers. They belong to the new stamp set, Various Vases, designed by Mary Fish to mark her million dollars of sales.

Carmela was the only member of my team who was able to accompany me to the team training day, her first big Stampin' Up! event.

It's a very serious business, demonstrating to other demonstrators, but you should have heard them gasp when they thought I was about to cut, not score!!!!

A Couple More From April OnStage

These were the last two cards I made, but not the last that I'll be sharing. I received the Lined Alphabet stamp set in my box of goodies, but not the matching framelits. Of course I didn't even know about them!!! When you see the new Annual Catalogue, you'll understand why I wish I had received them, as they do more than cut out letters. I was still loking for ways to include them in my display, after using them on my scrapbook page, and a clip board.

 By this stage, we knew that the set of three framelits released during SALE-A-Bration were staying, and the Wood Textures paper stack, so I added a piece of Share What You Love specialty designer series paper, some copper net ribbon (that's back too) and die cut some Blackberry bliss hearts and 'you'. Love had been heat embossed with copper embossing powder, and then I washed Blackberry Bliss ink over it. The base card is Berry Burst for a bit of warmth.

 Since the sewing machine was out I used it for this card too. The same pack of Share What You Love SDSP, and another returning colour, Mint Macaron. I'm ecstatic that it has returned, and had a nice little stockpile of card and ink to use. It's a great match for Tranquil Tide, and actually Blackberry Bliss looks great with Berry Burst and Fresh Fig. The sentiments in the new Love What You Do stamp set are really lovely, in fact the whole Share What You Love Suite is perfect, and you'll be able to order bundles during May, a month ahead of the catalogue launch.
