Case Anything CTC #231

Welcome back to another week of CASE-ing The Catty. The crew is made up of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all parts of Australia and New Zealand. You are at the blog of Rachel Palmieri, Independent Stampin' Up!® demonstrator. I run classes at my home studio in South Morang, Victoria, share Stampin' Up!® products and tools at parties for my customers, coach my lovely team and create cards and the occasional 3D project. Mybe you have come from my lovely friend Tina Gillespie, but if you have started here, remember to keep on clicking on the 'Next' button at the bottom of the post to get to the next design team member.

CASE Anything!!! That's a pretty big call, so much to choose from and how to narrow it down? I needed a project this weekend to share with two Stampin' Up! demonstrators who spent the weekend with me. I have been playing tour guide on Phillip Island during the day and we filled our cold evenings with crafting by the fire.

I settled for some watercolouring using Rooted In Nature, which happily carries over into the new catalogue. It's a delightful set, and perfect for cards for men or women. In the past I've CASE-d the card top left here, so now I'll try the one centre bottom.

With the addition of new paper, Perennial Essence DSP, and fairly much the same layout, I'm very happy with this card. Usually I would like to skew the image, for a playful effect, but I will most likely use this for a condolence card. I love the rich jewel tones of the Perennial Essence paper, and the Magnolia Lane ribbon is neutral and goes with everything!

Beginning with a piece of watercolour paper cut to size and sprayed both sides to wet it, I added drops of Pool Party and Crumb Cake ink to an acrylic block. I used an aqua painter to lightly spread those colours. A very small amount of Early Espresso ink was scribbled through the Crumb Cake, and I dried it with my heat tool.

Once the background was dry, the tree stamp was mounted on the Stamparatus plate. I chose to do this as the watercolour paper is very absorbent and I predicted that I may have to stamp the image more than once. Pretty Peacock was used for the sentiment, it's a new Incolor which didn't really show up in this stamping, but the card base is also this colour.

The girls were keen to try a floating frame card too, so I made this sample. By adding all the leaf stamps to a plate on the Stamparatus, it is possible to stamp a half dozen Rich Razzleberry leaves, and then a half dozen of the next colour. That's a real time-saver!!!

When you make a Floating Frame card, and you cut the centre out, you end up with another piece for your next card. I had these two inch strips of woodgrain paper from the soon-to-retire Wood Textures and after gluing that to a Crumb Cake base, a Soft Suede frame was die cut, just to contain the leaf images. This one might just be my favourite, although it didn't photograph as well as I would have liked. At the moment, I haven't added a sentiment.

When I demonstrated my cards to the ladies, the cards ended up like this. Just small variations, but it was fun to try different shapes in the centre.

Country Flowers

Again I am sharing another guitar from Country Livin', so that you have an opportunity to order this stamp if it's a must for your stash. After 3rd June 2019, it has officially retired (and it may run out even before that date).

This time it has been paired up with Country Home, which will spend another 12 months in our catalogue, and a gorgeous NEW paper - Perennial Essence. It has Monet-like flowers on one side and these textural backgrounds on the reverse.

It required a large part of my Stampin' Blends collection for this piece, and a scrap strip of black card provided a suitable piece to heat emboss a greeting from Itty Bitty Birthdays in white. Next I'll share the secret to a composition like this, in case you haven't tried masking.

When you need to stamp over another image, you stamp the object which will appear at the front first. Then you stamp an image onto a sticky note and cut closely to the line. Stamp the background images next, before removing the mask to reveal a clean image.
