Be Strong, Not Neutral CI #35

Colour INKspiration is a fortnightly blog initiated by Bronwyn Eastley in Tasmania. The design team is made up of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all parts of Australia and New Zealand.You are at the blog of Rachel Palmieri, Independent Stampin' Up!® demonstrator. I run classes at my home studio in South Morang, Victoria, share Stampin' Up!® products and tools at parties for my customers, coach my lovely team and create cards and the occasional 3D project.

There has been a radical change to Stampin' Up!® this year with a Color Revamp! So exciting to have new colours to play with!!! Not only that, but they have re-arranged their colour families and the neutral range has a handful of colours included, and that is what we are focussing on this time at Colour INKspiration. At Colour INKspiration we've decided to feature a Colour Collection for the first challenge each month (2nd Wednesday) until we have showcased them all! The second challenge in the month (4th Wednesday) will be a Pinterest inspired pic as per usual just to mix it up a bit. This month we are starting off with the NEUTRALS COLLECTION and you can choose any 3 colours from that range for your challenge project. We are also changing the rules about what else you can add to the mix; essentially just the Basics - Whisper White, Very Vanilla and Basic Black as well as metallics. My choices were Merry Merlot and Mossy Meadow along with Early Espresso. What could be better for an early short black than that combo?

As a non-coffee drinker (no, never!) the Coffee Break suite has been a very late addition to my shelf, and although I began stamping and die-cutting some cups and lids, they've been put aside for another day. My husband is Italian-born, so naturally he likes a short black and has a variety of cups I can use as props!

I've used the now-retired friend framelit (Lovely Word Thinlit Dies) cut out with an oval Stitched Shape and backed with Crumb Cake card. The designer series paper from the Coffee Break suite is really nice and manly, I wonder if it will make a future appearance in the Clearance Rack?

 The other words are a sentiment from Rooted In Nature stamp set, which I stamped in the three different colours, and hand cut. Mossy Meadow stamped VERY dark (I have an older stamp pad too) so I used a second uninked stamping for the sentiment. Because of that, I inked the leaves from Rooted In Nature with Versamark, and see how clearly they have stamped. That is a handy hint for you. If you can't afford to buy ink in all the colours, use Versamark, and it gives a darker impression on the card, as if you'd used the same colour ink.

Delightful Daisies #GDP139

A couple of months ago I took the plunge and began chopping up my Designer Series Paper (DSP) and at first it was painful!!!! And in fact it was even more painful when I realised I need a half dozen 8" by 8" pieces for a project I am demonstrating this weekend. I just had to order some more, that was all there was for it!

The Global Design Team have a challenge theme ; Just A Note to Say.....

and that is exactly what these cards have been created for, paper hugs to send by mail.

This DSP is called Delightful Daisy (#144137) and at the end of the month, only a week or so away, it will be gone from our product line. Luckily the Daisy Delight stamp set and Daisy Punch are carrying over to the new catalogue, but they will not be bundled together at 10% discount any longer.

With these cards, I've used Lovely Words Thinlets and sentiments from Lovely Inside and Out. Both of these are retiring too, but until they do you can buy them in Australia bundled for $72.00. That is 12 stamps and 3 framelits (#145324). Having the DSP cut to size really speeds up the creation of a bunch of new cards. I cut mine 9.5 cm by 13.5 cm if I'm placing it on a contrasting card, otherwise it's a half centimetre bigger to go straight on a base.

Eclectic Friend

This card was made for an interstate friend of mine. It was fun to experiment with colour and the textured embossing paste.  I coloured the paste with Bermuda Bay from a re-inker bottle, and it is fascinating the variation of colour, almost like it was planned to fade out toward the edge!

Beautiful Bouquet was one of the stars featured here, but the supporting cast was pretty big!!! Birthday Delivery for the greeting inside the oval (doesn't it fit so snuggly?) The Lovely Word Thinlets pair nicely with Stitched Shape Framelits.

Five For All provides a witty verse for the inside of the card. I've found that a useful stamp set since it was introduced in the annual catalogue in June 2016. In the Occasions Catalogue you'll find another clever stamp set, Birthday Wit. I think that will make it onto my next order as I like some non-sentimental sentiments!
